Drivers/Hardware :: Xbox One Controller And External USB Driver Are Not Working
Feb 10, 2016
I installed Windows 10 for the first time a few hours ago. I like the new interface, etc, but I have a few problems:
Xbox One wired controller doesn't work. Windows 10 automatically install a driver for it, but it still doesn't work. I tried some solutions like this, but without success. I haven't that Microsoft Xbox One Controller entry he wrote about.
Xbox controller works fine with another PC. And these USB ports as well, works fine with other devices.
All of a sudden my XBOX 360 controller has stopped working on my desktop. I will connect it to a port it will blink 2-3 times and then it won't show up on device manager or anywhere. It was working just a few days back. I purchased Project Cars and now am panicked since I don't have money for a wheel and can't drive with keyboard. I thought maybe it was the controller itself, but it works fine on laptop-lights up in middle and can use it with emulator. Here is my desktop specs.
GB z77x-d3h mb 3770k at 4.3 GTX 960 2 GB Windows 10 pro 64 bit with latest build 16 GB RAM,
Here is what I have done so far. Tried multiple USB ports on back of computer. No luck. Does same thing with all of them Tried to use device manager and scan for hardware changes-no luck there. Tried downloading XBox 360 controller accessories from MS. No luck there
My friend gave me a wireless USB dongle to use with my Xbox 360 controller for my PC tower. For whatever reason, Windows wasn't recognizing the dongle so I forcibly-assigned the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller driver present in Windows 10 to the dongle. Now, I can connect my Xbox 360 controller, but I have lost all sound output. I have tried updated drivers, reinstalling, and disabling specific drivers to no avail. At one point, uninstalling this Creative sound driver(which worked earlier) made my sound work for an hour, but now my sound doesn't work again. I don't want to reinstall Windows and lose all the applications a friend downloaded for me.
So i had this virus that was keep sending and redirecting to websites like - get money from this etc. So I wanted to uninstall but i uninstalled something VCI controller driver and now my keyboard, mouse are not working, I am on windows 7. I tried to put disk and try repair but it gave me an error...
I am finding the correct driver for my SATA RAID controller which is operating two mirrored 2TB hard drives. The computer still recognizes the controller being installed at the BIOS level. But currently Windows doesn't see the controller card or hard drives.
Information on the card is; Sil 3124 PCI/PCI-X to 4 port SATA300
System information is: AMD 64x2 Dual Core 5800+ 3.00GHZ with 6GB RAM operating Windows 10 Pro.
I bought an XBOX One controller with cable for Windows from Amazon. When I plugged it in, I hear the new device recognition tone but nothing else. Supposedly, the correct driver is part of Windows 10 and nothing else was needed. But it has never vibrated with any game. I've tried updating the driver, even tried it on another pc with Windows 10 and no luck.
I've got a Logitech F310 gamepad. It has the button in the center, which is useful in Steam when in full picture mode. But Windows 10 is treating this as the "Xbox" home button and when I press it, it brings up the little indicator window with the "Click for Help" option. How do I disable Windows from doing this with my controller while still leaving the button functionality for Steam?
I am using Windows 10 and I have been using my Xbox 360 Wired controller for some time now. I've been playing a game called Rocket League and in the middle of the match my controller stopped working. I plugged it back in to see if it would fix it, but it keeps telling me the controller is malfunctioning. I got a new controller and tried to use it, but it still tells me that the controller is malfunctioning and that it does not recognize. I even tied plugging it into my xbox360 to see if it would work and it did. Somethings not right.
I've also noticed that the Microsoft Edge internet browser has been going very slow too.
I upgraded to Windows 10 on my gaming PC and suffered from network drivers not working along with my graphics driver. But now Windows 10 says it's not activated. "I had a legal version of Windows 7 on this computer and now Windows 10 isn't activated.
So I tried to update from Windows 8 to 10 last week. That didn't work for me, so I had to format everything and install Windows 10 afterwards. At first neither W-LAN nor LAN would work. Then I un- & reinstalled the W-LAN driver so now everything's fine except for my ethernet connection.
- Adapter is enabled - I have un- & reinstalled the driver multiple times (even tried compatability mode, since some sites state that the latest version for AR8161 only supports win 8) - I was about a thousand times in the properties menu of the ethernet adapter
The full name of the adapter is "Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)"
I just ran diagnostics on the ethernet adapter and after trying to fix some network protocols Windows prompted me with this. So I tried to fix this by entering
In cmd which sadly didn't do the trick. Neither did entering
Code: netsh int ip reset c: esetlog.txt in cmd (admin ofc) after editing the permissions for the "26" folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Nsi/{eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}
So the group "everyone" has "full control".
I am still stuck here w/ the "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" -problem.
For the past few months, the right touchpad button does not work with the Windows 10 drivers. Windows 8.1 drivers worked fine. If I switch mouse settings to left handed, then the buttons work fine, but obviously this is awkward to get used to. I have rollbacked the driver to a very old edition and it worked fine, however then I had no synaptics touchpad settings so the touchpad settings could not be altered.
I have been having a problem with the USB 3.0 ports on my computer.
This computer is a Windows 10 64-bit machine that I built in November. It has an Asus P9X79 LE motherboard, and an Intel i-7 4820 CPU.
A few days ago, I noticed that two external drives attached to the two rear USB 3.0 connections were not showing up among the listed drives. This MB also has a USB 3.0 header, to which I have connected four USB 3.0 ports on the front of the case. I found that my drives, and other USB devices, were recognized and worked fine when plugged into the front ports, but not when plugged into the back.
The first thing I did was check the USB section of the Device Manager. The USB 3.0 controller was listed, and there were no warnings (yellow ! icons) to indicate any problems. Since then, I have tried the following:
First, I searched for hardware changes in the Device Manager. It found nothing.
Second, I deleted the USB 3.0 controller and rebooted to get the system to reinstall the device. It did reinstall the device, but this accomplished nothing.
Third, I updated the BIOS to the latest version on the Asus website. I verified with ASUS that this was indeed the most current version. No change.
Fourth, I updated all chipset drivers for the MB, with the current files on the Asus website. No change.
Then, a couple of days later, the front USB ports stopped working. Checking the Device Manager, the USB 3.0 controller is now missing. Checking online, I found a suggestion that USB 3.0 might be disabled in the BIOS, so..
Fifth, I checked the BIOS settings, and found no way to enable or disable USB 3.0.
One thing that is very odd about this, which the Asus tech commented on, was that the front ports were working while the back ones were not, since they rely on the same controller.
Second, if I were to purchase a PCI-e USB 3.0 board, would it have its own controller, so I won't have to rely on the Asus MB for this functionality?
Okay, I upgraded from Windows 7 64Bit to windows 10 Home 64bit.
Everything ran smooth and fine. I first get into windows (after the "Hi" screen and setting up apps screen) and I see my desktop. I install the latest video drivers first thing. I go to reboot and when It boots back into windows.
NONE of my USB devices are working at all. I had to use splashtop (remote desktop service) to connect to my windows 10 PC to be able to control it at all. Come to find out.
ASmedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller (3 of the listed)
and
Intel C600/X79 series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Controller #1 (and #2)
all had exclamation points in front of them.
I click on them and it is giving me a code 48
which is windows is blocking the driver from starting because it has known issues with windows.
NOW it was working FINE until I rebooted the computer. It has done this TWO times.
I try to update the driver.. it says I have the best driver installed.
I try to manually update the driver using C:/windows as the place to look.. it says I have best driver installed.
I try to uninstall the driver and let windows install it again... same results as above.. it just gets the exclamation mark again immediately.
I tried uninstalling, rebooting.. same results.
I tried looking on Asus's website for USB drivers for windows 10. They have NO USB drivers for windows 10 at all listed under my board. (Asus Rampage IV Formula)
Is there anyway to stop windows from blocking the driver? I also tried checking intel's website for USB drivers for windows 10.. nothing.
Also I tried installing the Intel Chipset Software that is listed on this site, though for some reason it won't let me install it. It keeps asking for SetupChipsetx64.msi, and keeps looking in a folder in which it doesn't exist.. and the .msi is not in the folder that you extract from the download either.
How are manufacturers this unprepared for a OS launch?
Macbook pro early 2011 bootcamp was not willing to let the SSD run in AHCI mode in windows 10, so I did EFI installation of windows 10. Everything seems to work but the audio card.
Code: This device cannot start. (Code 10) in the High definition audio controller.
I tried installing the drivers manually and automatically and from the bootcamp but this error persists.
Is the problem in the EFI implementation of the macbook pro early 2011 that windows cannot read , or is it related to drivers ? I downloaded latest videocard Intel HD 3000, and realtek generic driver. The audio drivers seems to be from currus logic.
On Bootcamp install (BIOS) the sound card works fine, but in EFI it can not start the driver.
I always use steam chat with friends and can not play without it since Cs go uses the default steam chat microphone. I use a Logitech G930 USB headset that has worked in the past, but after the 29th of October everything went downhill. List of "Solutions" I have tried: (I'l try and update it)
-Uninstalling steam/reinstalling -uninstalling mic drivers/Logitech software and reinstalling -changing default mic to the G930 -Restarting router (80mbps speed so band with is not an issue) -Restarting computer (Duh)
My external HDD stop working after upgrading to windows 10 pro? I have tied different USB ports but the problem persist. Strange thing the same HDD works perfectly on my laptop running on windows 7 pro..
Today I took the plunged into the windows 10 experience. Everything is great and all but my speakers that are plugged into my external monitor, via hdmi, aren't being recognized. I have confirmed that the speakers do still work, by testing them with my phone. My computer does sport an Realtek HD audio device. Windows says the drivers are up to date when checked with device manager for both.
I do know i can plug the speakers straight into my laptop, but the speaker wires aren't long enough to reach to that side of my laptop on my current set up. My external monitor is a g247hl, not that it should matter. plugged into that is a Logitech speaker system and a lenovo speaker system (through a slitter).
I cannot get my external hard drives to give me write permissions over my local network in some directions.I recently replaced our hard drives with SSDs and with the reinstall, I had some difficulty getting the permissions on my external hard drives working correctly.
I did several Google searches and read a procedure that I needed to go through adding a user called "Everyone" to each of my drives that I wanted to access and share. I did this and gave "Everyone" full read/write permissions and also went into advanced options (or wherever it is) and chose the checkbox to give all child files and folders these same permissions. It took ages but eventually it all seemed OK.
I had one folder which could not be corrected this way and ended up having go change each file individually. Anyway, I thought I was all set but if I try to move a file from Machine A to Machine B (the drives are attached to , I get an error that I don't have permission to do this. No overrides or Admin permissions are an option and when I check the specifics it *is* correctly shared with not only Everyone but this machine as well (so it attempted to fix the permissions itself at some point). However, if I go to Machine B and grab the files from Machine A over the network ...
Since I put vmWare 10 on my laptop , my external HDD wont initialize. it says its there but when i try to initialize it tells me my drive is too small for GPT, Its 500gb. When I installed VMWare i might have had the external connected and i believe i opted for to split partitions into 8 parts. I have some data and files on the drive that i need but once i take them off i will just format it. So how can i initialize the drive and/or get my data and store it some where safe? I am running windows 10 BTW
My toshiba 1tb external hard drive currently says it is a raw file system and i cant seem to format it no matter what i do. I dont care for what is inside (only one word file) but i just want to be able to use it again. Is there anyway i can format the HDD and make it usable again?
In the past few days my external hard drive makes the sound (windows notification) like when I unplug it from my desktop. Then about 5 seconds later I get another sound and notification asking me how I would like to view content for G: (my external hard drive). I only have it attached to use for backups and I've checked my back up program (easeus) and my backups haven't been happening either. I used crystaldisk to check it and it's healthy. Why it would be essentially shutting itself off and on?
File explorer is struggling with my 2 external WD My Book 3TB HDD
Problems: 1 of the drives will keep running randomly all night (and gets real hot) after PC shut down. When trying to write a batch to one of the drives explorer keeps trying to access the drive, cannot open it and becomes unresponsive (task bar icons disappear).
