Drivers/Hardware :: Why Won't Keyboard Key Work After Upgrade

Mar 5, 2016

I have two desktops using a single keyboard, monitor and mouse via a KVM device. One desktop is running Windows 7 but I've just upgraded the other from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

All was 100% well on both machines before the upgrade. The Windows 7 machine is still fine (as you'd expect!) but on the Windows 10 machine hitting the key on the keyboard has no effect whatsoever. On Windows 10 set up I chose "UK keyboard" as usual; I think I've always done whenever I've loaded any version of Windows.

(The sharper ones amongst you will have realised that I'm typing this on the Windows 7 machine!!!)

Drivers/Hardware :: Getting Special Keys On Apple Bluetooth Keyboard To Work?

Jul 30, 2015

I have Windows 10 (upgraded from Win 7.1) installed on an iMac on a Bootcamp partition. When I was running Windows 7.1, all the function keys (to control brightness, volume, music playing) worked perfectly. Now under Windows 10 none of them work. And yes, I did go into the setup and try turning on and off the check box for whether or not the keys performed as Function keys with and without holding the FN key. If I go into Bluetooth devices, the keyboard is shown properly as an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard.

Upgrade To V.1511 - 10586 Failed Again

Nov 27, 2015

Once again, Windows 10 pro 32bit upgrade failed when it reached 71% installed.

I have an ASUS H81M-PLUS MB with intel core i7 processor.

As on previous attempts, a small window appeared with the caption "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" Below the caption was a small red circle with a cross in it and below that an uncaptioned button

Clicking on the button resulted in a message "Restoring previous Version of Windows" It then proceeded to do just that.

Having read other posts on this thread, for this attempt I disconnected all USB3 peripherals so that isn't the problem.

Drivers/Hardware :: Samsung SCX-4500 Printer Work On Upgrade But Not Fresh Install

Aug 17, 2015

I upgrades to Win 10 the the above network/wireless printer worked fine. I've now done a fresh install and it doesn't!

The scanning function works but trying to print produces an error. I've been advised by Samsung support that their driver doesn't support Win 10 and that they don't know when a new version will be released. They said it would still function under the upgrade as it still had access to the old Win 7 drivers there.

Any way of making the Win 7 drivers available on a fresh Win 10 install?

Drivers/Hardware :: Replaced Wired Keyboard With Bluetooth Keyboard - PC No Longer Sleeps?

Nov 21, 2015

I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.

i keep some rdp windows open for work all day and at some point the keyboard just stops working on the remote desktops, only the mouse works, to get it working again i have to close the rdp session and reopen it many times, sometimes even this doesn't work, so i have to reboot my win 10 and then it normally works. I must say that in all my years of windows 7 i have never had a similar issue.

Now Keyboard And Mouse Won't Work

Aug 11, 2015

I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop. Worked great under Windows 7. Tried Windows 10 but was unable to get the wireless LAN driver to work, so I went back to Win 7 via the official "Go Back to Windows 7" option in Windows 10 - now the keyboard and mouse won't respond after start up. They work fine in the bios, but are completely unresponsive on the login screen - even when I boot in safe mode. No USB ports work, so I can't try another keyboard/mouse. Was going to reinstall but I'll lose the existing data. Now I'm going to have to pull the drive and copy over manually, then reinstall. Last thing I was going to try was disabling EVERYTHING in the BIOS just in case there was some kind of weird IRQ conflict, etc.

Mouse And Keyboard Don't Work - No Cursor

Jan 12, 2016

turned my computer on yesterday and it loaded up fine, apart from there was no cursor and my keyboard wouldn't work. I have a R.A.T. 5 mouse and a Coolermaster QuickFire keyboard. I know that they're on and working because their LED's are on. I decided to plug in my old ps2 keyboard and restart my PC to enter BIOS. I checked and it recognises that the keyboard and the mouse are connected into the USB hub and says they're working. Another thing, even my ps2 keyboard doesn't work when my computer gets past the start screen!

Mouse And Keyboard Doesn't Work After Reset

Aug 21, 2015

My mouse and keyboard (both are USB) don't work, but they are lit up. I tried replugging them, but that doesn't work. I tried using F8, but that doesn't work. I also don't have a PS/2 port, as I am running BootCamp on a Mac. I even tried using the Apple Keyboard.

Before this problem, I had issues with BAD_POOL_HEADER (BSoD) on Windows 10 after updating drivers. Checking if I had any system restores, it didn't have any that I made before the update. So, I reset my computer, with all files intact. Then my problem arises; keyboard and mouse do not work, and I'm pretty much stuck on the login screen.

Login Prompt Will Not Show - Keyboard And Mouse Will Not Work

Aug 15, 2015

I'm stick on the below screen. My keyboard and mouse will not respond. I don't get a login prompt. The time is correct and the little icon in the bottom right indicates if my Ethernet cable is connected.

I had Window 7. I used the microsoft provided upgrade to install windows 10. The process seemed to have completed successfully. I was able to get a login prompt once and successfully logged in. I opted to not send any information to microsoft at the initial propts. I got to my desktop, everything seemed to be working ok. I thought there were a few startup apps I didn't need in my tray. So I turned off auto startup on login for OneDrive, Skype, and my logitech camera. I restarted and now I get stuck at this screen.

The time updates correctly over time, its not frozen. I can plugin/unplug the Ethernet cable and the little icon in the bottom right will change to indicate if it has internet. I can press the power button on my computer and it correctly interprets that as a shutdown command and it gracefully shuts down.

My mouse/keyboard wont work. They used to work fine. I am able to use the mouse/keyboard in my BIOS with out a problem. However the moment the system starts to load, the lights on my keyboard and mouse go out and they become unresponsive. I tried various combinations of pluging the USB keyboard/mouse into different ports. I tried using different mouses and keyboards. I tried disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS. Nothing works.

I tried getting into safe mode but can't. Most solutions to get into safe mode require your system to already be working correctly. Holding F8 or F8+Shift don't work.

I'm currently installing windows 10 on my lap top so I can try to create a restore disk. Which should then allow me to go into safe mode and try to repair what ever has gone wrong.

My computer is sporting an i7 with 16 gigs of memory. I use a 128gb SSD for my system and have 3 other hard drives for various data storage. No other OS installed. The computer has been functioning fine for the last two years.

Why Aren't Bluetooth Keyboard And Mouse Working After The Upgrade

Jul 30, 2015

Just upgraded to Win 10 this morning, everything was smooth except for one thing: my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and mouse stopped working. Looks like there's an error with the Broadcom Bluetooth USB driver, which is already the latest and greatest according to Windows, which obviously it ain't. Where to get working drivers? Surprisingly there's nothing about Windows 10 on Broadcom's site??

Drivers/Hardware :: Keyboard Not Responsive

Jan 17, 2016

My Windows key on the keyboard is not working. I have run through the sfc scannow and the dism repairs and such and it claims everything is working. I did a clean reboot of Windows 10 (Education) and the problem still persists.

Looking at the keyboard driver (Thermal Challenger Gaming Prime), it doesn't seem to register that the left window's button works for anything at all. Attempting to press the button on the keyboard yields no response even if I attempt to bind that key to something else. I doubt it is hardware as using this keyboard on my laptop works perfectly fine. The laptop is running windows 8 however.

When pressing on the windows button in the left corner of my screen, everything works fine. Left clicking pulls up everything normally and right clicking provides a list of options that seems to be standard for a functioning computer.

All the drivers are installed properly according to the Windows settings and looking at each of the drivers, they are all up to date according to their manufacturer. This is a custom computer that I recently built. It has no prior Operating systems or files and Windows 10 Education was installed on it through the Media Creation Tool on a bootable USB.

Drivers/Hardware :: No Keyboard After Sleep

Jan 20, 2016

I resurrected my old HP DV5-1044CA. I did a fresh Windows 10 install. Strangely when the laptop sleeps or if I put it to sleep with the power button or by closing the lid, I can wake it with the keyboard or power button and use the keyboard to enter my PIN but after that the keyboard no longer works. I have to restart to get the keyboard working again.

Drivers/Hardware :: Keyboard Not Working?

Jan 1, 2016

I have a Anitech P201RU keyboard and when I boot my PC the keyboard works fine until the login screen. I have tried turning on legacy in bios and turning it off and tried uninstalling the drivers. What I noticed is that when I go into device manager it shows a exclamation mark next to the usb composite device.
