Earlier today I was playing my usual online game when suddenly the sound stopped working. It had been working just fine earlier and I hadn't changed anything except maybe updating Adobe Flash. After a while the sound suddenly came back and then it disappeared and hasn't returned. I've been looking through all the Device Manager and Sound Control, but nothing seems to be working. When I slide the sliders in the volume mixer Speakers/ Headphones and System Sounds lights up green. In the sound panel on the speaker icon there is a green check mark. This is all happening on my pc not my mac. So I'm not sure if I pressed a button during my gaming or if adobe flash might've messed up something. I've posted this thread here because everything I looked up points to Drivers, but to me it seems like they're working???
Problem: 1) Since updating to windows 10, Laptop completely incapable of making any sound out of the speakers. 2) Headphones plugged into jack produces no volume out of earbuds 3) The Color of the volume slider when F9 or F10 is pressed is a light yellowish orange. Not the Usual Green 4) Playing a test tone creates an error box "Failed to play test tone"
Things I have Tried 1) Downloading a new Driver (failed) 2) Resting the sound and Sound system (failed) 3) Finding the mute button and unmuting the computer (it wan't muted) 4) Restarting the computer Edit: 5) Tried to switch playback options, There are only 2: 24 Bit: 48000 Hz, 16 Bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality)
Solution I want: 1) My toshiba to actually play sound out of speakers 2) toshiba to play sound out of headphones.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware of software problem. Any way I'm posting it on both Toshiba and Windows 10 Forums.
So I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)
This morning when i turned on my computer the sound was not working.I reinstall all my sound drivers, i reboot my computer a lots of time, i cheked if everythings was pluged correctly and everythings was supposed to be fine but the sound don't work !
Now, for some odd reason, on my computer, the sound, start menu and cortana stopped working and I can't even get past the sign in menu without it telling me to sign out so they can "fix" this problem which I've done 3 times now so I have no clue if I screwed up this computer or what.
It started with the sound first, then the start menu so I decided to restart my computer manually (which was a bad idea, apparently) and I guess Cortana just died on me when I got back on.
Also, my computer is on Windows 10 Pro Preview still.
have a problem with usb drivers according to my control panel which says it is fixing the issue and then tells me to reboot but it is not fixed. Keyboard lights up on start but when the first blue window appears it goes off. I can get into the bios ok and the keyboard works there. only one port is working (USB3). as my mouse and keyboard are usb and there is no PS2 port i am kinda cactus at the moment. Been searching for usb drivers for win 10 but not having any luck. Everything was working fine since November until yesterday.
I have a Lenovo G550 Laptop that is many years old which has a built in WebCam that worked fine in windows 7. I did not check to see if it worked in the installation of Windows 10 or the update for Windows 10. So to my surprise when testing my camera with Skype, it gave me the blue screen of death. I tried opening it with the Camera application on the computer and again, it crashed.
Here is what I have found out so far:
1. My Lenovo laptop is not on the list supported that Lenovo has on their website for this problem 2. When looking on the D drive of my computer under drivers and camera and driverpackages, I find files that say: Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. This tells me that there isn't one for Windows 10 so I need to find a correct update for my computer.
So here is my question:
Am I wrong in assuming I need a Windows 10 Driver Package for the camera.
Uninstall the Easy Camera application that came with the computer, update the driver from Lenovo, and then your camera is good to use.
So I put together a new PC running Windows 10 Pro around 3 months ago and everything was working perfect till 2 days ago when my mic suddenly stopped working. I use a Steelseries Siberia V2 headset and the headphones work fine, but the mic is not picking up any noise at all. I tried plugging in both the back and front ports and my realtek always detects that a mic has been plugged in, but it simply won't work. I thought maybe my mic got busted so I also tried using an A4 Tech headset that I had lying around in the office but it has the same issue, the mic won't work. I looked around online for possible solutions and tried the following with no luck:
Ensured the mic was set as the default device and that its volume settings were maxed out.Tried disabling all sound effects (noise suppression, acoustic echo cancellation etc).Uninstalled all audio drivers and reinstalled the latest realtek drivers on my motherboard's webpage: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0)
Uninstalled all audio drivers and reinstalled the latest realtek drivers on realtek's own webpage: RealtekUninstalled all audio drivers and let Windows auto-install drivers.I even uninstalled all realtek drivers and tried using the standard "high definition audio device drivers."
Basically tried everything in this link: Microphone Not Working in Windows 10? | Win 10 FAQ
The conclusion was the same with everything I tried, the sound worked fine in both my speakers and headphones, but the mics simply didn't work. What's strange is that it just stopped working out of nowhere. I didn't install any new software or hardware or make any changes prior to the issue. Just turned the PC on one day and boom, mics not working.
I've attached screenshots of what my mic settings looked like with the realtek drivers and without.
Today my keyboard stopped working, there was a usb error message pop up but i didn't realise what it was about, then then my k70 corsair keyboard stopped working, i tried restarting and doing an sfc scan but nothing changed, then i started looking into device manager but all the drivers were up to date so i tried reinstalling the HID keyboard driver but nothing changed, i then looked into the event viewer and found the issue (attached screenshot)
After installing windows 10 on my HP laptop PC, some keyboard keys have stopped working. The keys that don't work are: { 'escape' 'g' 'h' 'backspace' }. I am sure it is not a hardware problem because on occasion, all the keys that previously did not work, start working again. In fact, as I am typing this thread, my keys are working correctly. When they stop working, I try to uninstall or update the driver in device manager but that does not work. Keep in mind this started happening after installing Windows 10. I have not had this problem in Windows 8.1.
I just upgraded my ASUS Laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 X64. (It has Via HD Audio)
Initially, sound worked but the microphone didn't. I fussed with many settings but nothing seemed to work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, then the mic seems to work but sound doesn't.
Some of the events that I have encountered are: One message said "Windows has detected that Audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems". I disabled all enhancements but nothing changedBased on other posts, I tried to change the default format to 16 bit and other Hz. Nothing worked.I tried to play a test tone in the speaker setup and got the message "Failed to play test tone".I tried to update the drivers but was informed that I had the latest drivers
I went to the VIA web site to look for new drivers but there are none listed for Win 10.
Is there something else that I can do or is it just a matter of waiting for new VIA drivers? (VIA HD Audio is such a common audio chip that I find it hard to imagine that VIA and Microsoft haven't solved the driver problem - particularly given the Insiders Hub process!)
I have been experiencing an audio problem very recently with my laptop (Model Schenker C505).
Whenever I close my laptop lid, and make my laptop go to sleep, the audio will not reactivate once I wake it up. However, a restart of the system seems to do the trick and the sound starts working again.
I have updated all my sound drivers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and restarted Windows Audio and Audio Endpoint in system services but the sound just won't come on.
I have noticed that the laptop does not go to sleep nearly as quickly (almost instantly) as before when the sound was fully functioning. Perhaps this could be part of the issue?
my cd drive icon was showing and working then stopped showing up. I did as much research as I could and purchased AVG driver updater and it worked for a few days and won't work again.
The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just installed the most recent windows 10 tech preview last night; but my sound blaster pci express sound card did not get installed correctly or something because i am getting no sound at all. I roll everything back to the old setup.
Mic stopped working after windows 10 update. I can't raise the db levels and it does not record any sounds. Its like its muted all the time, but i cant unmute it. Its an HyperX Cloud II if that matters.
Win 10 was working well on my Toshiba Satellite.(i7 4 gig ram). Then I lost the ability to download with Cannon Camera software. This program stopped working. ( got off pictures by removing SD card and putting it direct in laptop.)Next computer slows down and run st 55 to 60 Deg C. (air temp about 23 deg and desktop computer running at 35 deg.)
Then Blue screen telling me Video_Krnl............ failed/error.Ran restore point and system worked again for a while(2 days). Now I can only get 3 to 4 minutes before blue screening and failing. Have blown out cooling fins but little to no dust as computer is only just one year old. Regularly run AVG and Wise 365 cleaner over it.
Recently i have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Everything was fine the first hour, then all of the sudden the mouse stopped working and it was no where to be seen. The mouse that I use is an old Logitech mouse that has a ball to control the mouse. So, I plugged in another mouse and it was working, but the clicks were backwards.
Recently discovered Windows Explorer stop working. Ran SFC /ScanNow result were some flies were repaired, which directed me to C:WindowLogCBSCBS.log, nothing found there. What to do, it was only by accident I discovered it was not working, no error messages or any signs.
The start button on windows 10 has stopped working for me. It came right after I installed a new graphics card though in the days before I had noticed strange stuff like when I searched for an app and clicked on its icon within the start menu nothing would happen. File explorer, settings etc stills works but are very slow.
