For some reason two finger scroll just stopped working even though it was working about an hour ago. Why it changed or what i did to change it. I tried entering the control panel, mouse, then synaptics settings, and enabling vertical scrolling, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.
View 1 RepliesI own a Dell Inspiron N5547, updated from W8.1 to W10 Pro a few days back. The Dell Touchpad came installed with the upgrade, and for the first 2 days, all the gestures were working perfectly. On the third day, the three finger scroll up (for task view) stopped working and invokes Cortana instead. I went on the Dell Touchpad program and tried to untick the three finger tap for Cortana, but to no avail. Its really annoying, I tried to restart my latpop but faced the same problem.
I tried to search for solutions, one included uninstalling the Dell Touchpad from Programs and Features, then downloading the latest version from the Dell website. I did so, and installed it again, and once again for the first day the three finger scroll was working perfectly, but when I woke up the next morning, it started invoking Cortana again.
I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?
The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN.
I see this in the Event Viewer:
The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded.
The only way currently around it is to unplug and replug the Bluetooth adapter.
Every time I sign out keyboard stops working for no reason, I have to restart in order to make it work.
View 7 RepliesMy laptop touchpad scrolling stopped working this morning after I updated my gpu driver. I went to the packard bell website and looked at the touchpad drivers for my laptop. There is a synaptics one and a elan one.
I have them both installed on my laptop but it still isn't working and there is still no virtual scrolling option in synaptics. These are the options that I have in the synaptics settings:

What do I have to do to get the scroll trackpad feature to work again? P.S, when in device manager, even though there is an ELAN tab in mouse properties, Only the synaptics driver shows up under the mice section in device manager. Does this mean that the synaptics driver is replacing the ELAN and I need them both for the scroll to work.
So I put together a new PC running Windows 10 Pro around 3 months ago and everything was working perfect till 2 days ago when my mic suddenly stopped working. I use a Steelseries Siberia V2 headset and the headphones work fine, but the mic is not picking up any noise at all. I tried plugging in both the back and front ports and my realtek always detects that a mic has been plugged in, but it simply won't work. I thought maybe my mic got busted so I also tried using an A4 Tech headset that I had lying around in the office but it has the same issue, the mic won't work. I looked around online for possible solutions and tried the following with no luck:
Ensured the mic was set as the default device and that its volume settings were maxed out.Tried disabling all sound effects (noise suppression, acoustic echo cancellation etc).Uninstalled all audio drivers and reinstalled the latest realtek drivers on my motherboard's webpage: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0)

The conclusion was the same with everything I tried, the sound worked fine in both my speakers and headphones, but the mics simply didn't work. What's strange is that it just stopped working out of nowhere. I didn't install any new software or hardware or make any changes prior to the issue. Just turned the PC on one day and boom, mics not working.
I've attached screenshots of what my mic settings looked like with the realtek drivers and without.
Description: My USB keyboard stops working at the login screen. None of the keys are responsive. The onscreen keyboard works fine.
This happens on wakeup after a remote desktop session and after scheduled updates during the night. In both cases this happens after wakeup, which makes this tedious to reproduce.
The keyboard starts working after unplugging the usb and plugging back or after restarting. I have this same issue on my work PC (HP, win 10) which makes me believe that this is a windows 10 issue. I have tested with three different USB keyboards.
Troubleshooting so far: Energy settings for USB checked (USB selective suspend setting set to disabled)...
Today my keyboard stopped working, there was a usb error message pop up but i didn't realise what it was about, then then my k70 corsair keyboard stopped working, i tried restarting and doing an sfc scan but nothing changed, then i started looking into device manager but all the drivers were up to date so i tried reinstalling the HID keyboard driver but nothing changed, i then looked into the event viewer and found the issue (attached screenshot)

View 1 RepliesEver since I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 15-3521 laptop to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 last year I've had intermittent issues with the touchpad. Specifically, about 25% of the times that I turn on the computer I'm completely unable to scroll up or down using two finger multi-touch gestures (putting two fingers on the touchpad and moving them up or down to make a webpage scroll up or down, for example). The mouse cursor will also randomly stop responding for a few seconds at a time when the scrolling issue is occuring. Usually I just restart the computer to get around it but I'd like to fix the problem once and for all.
I've tried fixing the issue a number of times over the past few months by upgrading the drivers from Dell's website as well as attempting other fixes suggested on other forum posts describing the same issues but haven't had any luck. I'm ready to try anything you suggest, including things I may have done already (ex: downloading the latest drivers), preferably saving more drastic measures for last. In addition, I should mention that after upgrading to Windows 10 I also began having intermittent issues with sound quality (bass is very low) when using headphones.
I have an hp pavilion dm4 laptop. i have installed windows 10 and using for last 10 months but after updating to latest build 11082 my finger print scanner is not detected in start up login but i can add fingers and delete fingers in windows hello section. this started only after latest build was installed prior to that i was able to work it out.

View 1 RepliesI want to change the three finger action on my laptop touchpad. I have win 8.1 driver synaptics driver installed. The three finger gestures can't be changed, only enabled or disbaled. Now, the gestures do the forward and backward navigation on left/right three finger swipe and pageup and pagedown action on up/down swipe. I want to change the up/down or if possible left/right gestures to the new actions introduced in win 10.
researched a bit online and I think that maybe they can be changed through registry edits.
Secondly, I also want to change three finger press to Notification centre. I have a option to launch any program with this gesture so I want to know that if an executable shortcut can be created to windows notification centre (shortcut: Win+A).
i have a acer aspire 1v , windows ten just updated with cortana in australia , since the update my touch pad has no options for two finger functions
when i was running windows 8.1 i had options for three finger functions , that went when i installed windows ten for the first time and i could only get two finger options available , now with the latest install there is only options for one finger functions
I am have synaptics pointing device but i though i had elan pointing device...
what is also weird is when i open the synaptics pointing device in the tray manager , i have an option for accessories with pressure graph and moonpad options , not sure what they are but clicked on them and i get a message this option requires a synaptics pointing device and synaptics pointing device driver
I've tried device manager check driver update and it says working properly and driver is using the latest update.
Just downloaded windows 10 update and my touchpad can move but cannot use any gestures which is a massive pain consider I can no longer scroll using two fingers. Why and how I can repair this functionality?
View 1 RepliesIt all started when I installed Windows 10 on release day. (I was using windows 7 before). I downloaded mumble and then all my games and started playing with friends. After a while I noticed that my friends weren't responding to me I alt tabbed and realized my push to talk wasn't working (this goes for every voice program, the same thing happens the push to talk key stops working). In my Recording options the mic isn't disabled.When I go into recording devices after it stops working when I speak I do not see any green bars, when I go to steams voice test and nada, no green bars. To fix it I either go into Mumble settings and just hit 'apply' or I open up the mumble audio wizard and close it right away and my mic will work again along with push to talk. For some reason this makes my mic work again.
I've tried a fresh install of windows 10, I've tried different mics, different sound cards and the same thing keeps happening. Before I reformatted it got so bad it was happening every 2 minutes. Now it happens every couple of hours and progressively happening more often.To me it seems something is disabling my mic and doesn't re-enable it.
They changed mouse scroll to scroll next/previous instead of zoom. I use a Logitech mouse with Setpoint installed and because of Setpoint smooth scroll, it scrolls through several photos on one scroll. Turning smooth scroll off, it doesn't always scroll next when the mousewheel "clicks". Another thing with my Logitech mouse is that I can't use the forward/backward buttons. They function as left click. Double click any and it zooms in. I can't change Setpoint settings per app because Photos isn't really a typical exe app like Notepad.
The last thing is that it seems to sharpen the photos even when I turned auto adjustments off. Compare Photos to Firefox and even Windows Photo Gallery and you'll see.So far, Windows Photo Gallery seems like a good alternative, except it doesn't play gifs (unless you click next frame really fast).
Been happening alot lately I can't open my start menu it just stops working. Only a restart or log off works.

(there's a cross for my audio and says "no audio devices installed" if i try to open audio manager) I've even tried updating drivers and I don't even know why this is happening.
View 1 RepliesI have a Logitech G502 Proteus Core mouse. It is connected to an Anker USB 3.0 Hub that works fine and has sufficient power for the mouse and all the other things connected to it. After I leave my mouse for a while, it stops working and also just recently stopped working when I was playing League of Legends. When it stops working, the lights still work but the sensor and buttons do not.
View 1 RepliesA friend that has a 64 bit version of Windows 10. He likes Internet Explorer better than Edge. I have set Internet Explorer as the default browser. In the search bar I typed in Internet Explorer and put a link in the taskbar.
This works fine with my personal computer but on his computer it continuously has a message open that says Internet Explorer has stopped working. Wants you to close the box.
Here are the things I've done:
1, Went in to Internet Properties and reset Internet Explorer. I did this through the control panel. Reset everything. No success.
2. Went in to Windows Features. Unchecked and then rechecked the Box that lists Windows 11. Restarted the computer. That was
supposed to correct it. No success
3. Looked in Add/Remove programs and found no listing either in programs or windows updates.. Nothing.
If I do a system refresh will this correct the problem. I see I would have to reinstall Office 2010. Not sure my friend can find his copy. Is there not a way to just download Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 10 and over right what is there.
I upgraded to Windows 10 from 7. Since the update I've run into an issue where, after I've been using my computer for a while and have done a few sleep/wake cycles, I won't be able to put my computer to sleep with the physical power button. It wakes up just fine with the power button. Restarting my computer temporarily resolves the issue.

Two behaving quite well, however one machine ABit IP35 Pro, 256 SSD, 1 TB hard drive, Nvidia 750 ti, 8 GB ram just intermittently just hangs up during operation. This is a very fast machine with a quad Intel Processor. This machine ran perfectly with all of same hardware on Win7 Pro. You can just move the cursor to send an email and we get the little blue circle and the machine is hung. It is not program dependant! Same thing can happen working in any browser.

Since the start menu doesn't work, that also means you can't access any of your programs (apps) OR the internet, via Edge.
After searching on Microsoft's site, it appears this problem has been around at least since August, but there don't appear to be any real fixes for it.
