Drivers To Install After Formatting?
Dec 21, 2015What Drivers should I install after formatting windows 10? Is there a way to, say, scan my PC and it'll tell me the drivers?

View 1 RepliesI bought a new SSD drive and used it to replace my old slow HDD in my laptop. I have just successfully installed windows 10 on it.
During the step shown in the picture below, I clicked on "New"
Which brought me to this step
From here, i just chose "Drive 0 Partition 4", clicked "Next", and the installation began.
Now here is my question, does it make a difference (or is it better) if I had chosen to format "Drive 0 Partition 4" first and then install? cuz my friend is saying that I should always format before installing Windows.
Lately, every flash drive I've bought requires to be NTFS formatted. Quick formatting gives me the option to change allocation size. Is there a specific size I should be using or just go small?

This is the error I get in Windows 10:
The last USB-device you plugged in this computer did not work properly and is not recognised by windows...
So I can read and write with Mac OS, but not with Windows. In the device manager of Windows, I cannot see the device either.

Need to undertake the above for my daughter's college course. Haven't a clue where to start and I am not particularly technical (understatement). Have found a lot stuff here about merits of FAT and exFat, but just need a working how to. Video will be involved at full 1080p so I suspect that the 4gb limit will be a hindrance (assuming 3 minutes per gb).
View 4 RepliesI had an issue of USB that thing when all of your files was renamed to gibberish text because you put it in an old PC, So I tried to format it.
However, things didnt go as planned and when I clicked right-clicked->format, both quick and full format returned "Windows was unable to format the drive".
Installing Windows 7 to my new SSD and keep my HDD for storage. Now, I want to upgrade to Windows 10, I like the look of it and feel that it has a lot to offer to me. If I install Windows 10, and then do the install again from a CD or USB onto my SSD will this affect my HDD at all (that does not have Windows on it)?
View 1 RepliesNew build. From a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys
I've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software. I always get the same behavior:
The screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self. Even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
I've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
I've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
I've tweaked once the tdr delay to 8 second, but didn't work.

So, I upgraded windows 7 to windows 10 and didn't like the performance. So I formatted my laptop and did a clean install of windows 10 as recommended. However during the process, I lost some files that I didn't remember to backup. Is there a way to recover those files? or this process completely erase the hard drive?
View 3 RepliesI have 2 SSDs and a few mechanical HDDs. I was dual booting (with Win 7 and 10) by changing the bios boot order for a while but have now decided to stick with Windows 10. By default Windows 10 loads. However I used to have Windows 7 as my boot drive. I want to now format the older SSD that Windows 7 is on and use it as a backup drive. Before I format my old Windows 7 drive I want to check that 10 will load okay. In the past years I have removed drives and found my OS no longer boots, so I don't want to make that mistake this time. I need to make sure my boot is coming from the 10 drive. So I have done a screen grab for you to see. Do I need to make the actual 10 partition active, or is just having the 500mb reserved partition as active ok ? The windows 10 drive is listed as such (C) and the Windows 7 drive is titled "Ready to Format" (H).
View 1 RepliesI have 2 seperated (physically) SSD drives in my laptop.
Previously I had windows 8.1 on one drive, and I installed windows 7 and upgraded it to windows 10 on the other SSD drive.
I enjoyed windows 10, so I formatted the drive with the windows 8.1, but now suddenly my laptop says he can't find system drive, and I can't load the windows 10, althogh it was installed with no connection to the windows 8.1 and on another drive.
I know that it is advised that one should not format a SSD without the Quick Format option enabled.
However I want to start with a completely clean SSD. This is not my C drive (Windows 10) but rather a second SSD used for certain applications. Question is, will doing this degrade the SSD's performance (i.e. speed and efficiency) or only theoretically reduce it's lifespan by one read/write process?
I have this Windows 7 PC with two drives, drive 0: SSD has current windows and drive 1: 1TB HDD for storage. I'm planning to do a clean install of windows 10 by formatting the ssd drive and installing windows there. Now my question is: do I have to format my hdd storage drive for a clean install? it contains general files, music, pictures, videos and a Steam folder of some games or will it cause issues with windows 10?, and what good can come from formatting it if there's any.
View 3 RepliesI have been installing and reinstalling windows 10 through bootcamp 6 on El Captain on my Macbook Pro.
But i keep getting the same result - the speakers and right click option are missing.
Where i can download drivers for Windows 10 on bootcamp 6 or what other way to resolve this issue.
Unfortunatley I am unable to install any driver for my phone; the Oneplus One. This is the error I'm getting:
"one of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time"
I get the same error for ADB and Fastboot drivers.
I tried installing the network drivers for Windows 10 on my new PC and it says that "Cannot install drivers. No Intel Adapters are present in this computer" whenever I try to install it.

View 5 RepliesI recently purchased G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL for my computer. I ran a memory test with memtest86+ and my old memory had 175 errors, which is not good. So I purchased the new ram, but when I installed it in my computer, the system turns on but Windows 10 will not boot.
Does this mean that the RAM is bad? I know that it's compatible because I narrowed my search down on NewEgg to RAM that was compatible with my motherboard. The one thing that I did notice is that my motherboard's manual says that it's compatible with 2 sticks of DRAM and the RAM that I purchased is SDRAM.
When I connect my USB cord, the printer shows in the "Unspecified" devices, rather than the "Printers"I downloaded HP latest package from August 2015. I also tried my original CD. Both don't recognize my LJ-1020 as a printer and won't complete installation.
I also tried another cable and USB port. No difference. From Device Manager, I found my LJ-1020 under the "Other Devices", I also tried "Update Driver", it eventually HP 2012.918.1.57980, but then fails "Windows encountered a problem..."Of course I did all of this using Windows 7 and Administrator compatibility mode .
EDIT: I tried "Add a printer" and it eventually added my LJ-1020 in printers. But I am unable to print anything and when I turn on my printer, it also shows in the "Unspecified" devices.
I did a clean install on my PC with Windows 10 and now am going to download drivers from my mobo site. It is an asus maximus vi hero and there are only a couple of drivers on the site for windows 10. what should I do about all the other missing drivers?
View 1 RepliesI'm planning to go from windows 8 to windows 10 after getting my first build, and I'm curious if I need to update my drivers before getting windows 10 or not. I know you put in the OS disc before any driver discs that came with your hardware so I don't know if I can just do a clean install of windows 10 and then get my drivers or not.
View 1 Repliesas said above i own a windows 7 key and don't want to waste the time to get a 7 iso just to upgrade to windows 10 and i also will have a difficult time since i don't know how to install drivers onto windows 7 to get the internet for a z170 motherboard (it looked difficult) since windows 7 is legacy for the z170 chipset and it isint as simple as popping a disk in from what i saw(more of a glance).

View 1 RepliesI am trying to install intel RST (rapid storage Technology) to try to restore my once blazing fast laptop.
Not that it works anyway but the setup keeps asking for .net framework 4.5
But windows comes with .net framework 4.6 & 4.5 and below.
So I tried disabling the windows one and re downloading it and that didnt work, it says already installed. How do I get around this?
own a sony vaio laptop and recently did a clean install of windows 10 on it, however I noticed that the volume was significantly lower than windows 8.1. My computer uses Realtek HD Audio.I tried installing drivers from Sony's as well as Realtek's website, however there is still no change.
View 8 RepliesSince installing Windows 10 my desktop will no longer recognise any external microphones, i've tested the microphonse elsewhere and they're working fine. The only place on my pc that will still recognise the microphone is Skype which only shows it in the settings in the form of the green bar moving; Echo and other skype calls will not read the mic.
