View 1 RepliesI have this problem on my fresh Windows 10 Pro x64 installtion where the documents folder keep multiplying in the file explorer navigation pane, it sometimes appears when I'm using the file explorer or leave it open in the background for a while. The system folders (Documents, Pictures and the other system folder) are all located in OneDrive and in my case D:OneDriveDocuments.
And this is what happens when I leave the file explorer open for a while. What triggers it so it is hard to reproduce. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with it being in OneDrive but I guess not since none of the other folders are acting like this. The extra Document folders don't appear like that all at once, they appear one by one and when you wait long enough it can become like that. There are no events in the event viewer that seem to be related to this problem so nothing I can show you from there.
I've just found the cause of this problem, it caused by OneDrive syncing the folder. The moment it starts to look for changes or update changes in the folder it will multiply and keep adding more folders one bye one.
Is there a way to customize Navigation Pane folders in order to remove unnecessary folders and add desired folders and shortcuts in Windows 10 Pro.?
View 4 RepliesI just did read (and do) instructions about removing OneDrive from the left explorer-pane. (and the quick-access pane) after reading a few hour, with instructions it was done in 2/3 mins
but now the question.. since this is about DropBox and not about OneDrive, I want to remove the DropBox item from the left-explorer-pane, but i do not want to remove (uninstall) dropbox...
I recently uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud. Even after uninstalling, a folder named "Creative Cloud Files" remains in the File Explorer. I can't find a way to delete this. How can I remove this folder?
View 1 RepliesI've seen adding shortcuts for these folders to Quick Access, but not rooted in the Navigation Pane. Critical info regarding display in Navigation Pane was found here: URL....Critical info regarding the appropriate flags for display in Open/Save dialogs was found here: URL...These files work on a per-user basis. This avoids having to deal with Ownership/Permissions issues of the CLSIDs under HKLM. So here are the files:
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-32-bit.reg
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-64-bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-64bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-32bit.reg
As shown below there are 2 drives missing from the Navigation Pane (vertical bar on the left of the File Explorer). How do I show them up there?
View 9 RepliesFor Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.
Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.
Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.
So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)
You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.
How do i stop 10 from adding any USB removable drives (a second time, since they're always show in MyPC which i have expended)?
View 9 RepliesI recently got an SSD, with my old HDD set as a storage. I was trying to move the quick navigation folders on the left of Windows Explorer from the SSD to the D: drive (HDD).
However, with the 'My Music' shortcut, I accidently moved it to just the D: drive, rather than a folder within the D: Drive. This means the 'My Music' now directs me to straight to the D: drive, and when I try and move it, Windows says access is denied.
I have two HP pc running Windows 10 Home Premium.
One has this problem:- [URL] ..... the other does not.
Duplicate drive is a MAXTOR S
I have been using file history on Windows 10. It is very unpredictable. File history is backing up to external drive, but it has coupled the entire "C" drive. In file explorer I have two "G" drives. I thought it only backup recent files not duplicate the drive.
View 7 RepliesBasically my story is, my previous laptop had a motherboard failure and I had some things on the hard drive that I wanted to recover. So I purchased a new laptop, put a ssd in it, installed windows 10, then I had a hard drive caddy lying about so I took out the optical drive of the laptop and installed the hard drive from my previous laptop with the assumption that I just take ownership of the drive and drag my stuff across to the (C: ) .
But after installing the hard drive successfully, it's now showing as the (E: ) it doesn't have all the files on it from my previous setup, instead it has the exact same files as the (C: ) . It's like whatever happened windows deleted the files and replaced them with the exact same files as the (C: ) ?I have a wordpress website on that drive that I really need to recover but absolutely no sign of any files from my previous windows 10 setup.
Ok, I bought a 2tb Seagate external drive which I swapped in my ps4, and took the 500 gig drive out of the ps4 to use as my external drive for my laptop.
But, my problem is, is that when I put in the usb cord to connect my external hard drive to my laptop, it lights up, but it doesn't show up anywhere on my laptop. I've done the disc management, and nothing is showing up as well.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion g, came with windows 7 64bit, but did that upgrade for windows 10 64 bit. Why it wont show up on my laptop.
I'm having with my cd/dvd drive. Since downloading Windows 10 the drive hasn't been working and doesn't show up in This PC. When I put a disk in it it Just spins around for a few seconds then stops. The odd thing is that the drive is recognized by Device Manager which says its working OK.
View 13 RepliesAfter upgrading my win 7 to win 10, how do I now play or show my video files I had stored in my hard drive? When I go to my video files I can't play as I get a "Media Player" ad for an additional cost to view MY files. Why? Do I no longer have a working Microsoft Media Player program or what do I now have in wind 10?
View 5 RepliesI have installed Windows 10 on a new clean hard drive because the old one with Windows 8 died but the new one with Windows 10 wont show any wireless connections. By the way the computer I'm typing on is Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesThis morning I downloaded windows 10. Installed and all that only to find that I couldn't connect to the Internet. I have a belkin USB adapter that allows me to connect wirelessly. The PC didn't recognize it and would not connect. So I connect my dvd drive again so I could reinstall the driver. Now the PC doesn't even show my dvd drive. So I cannot install the software and the it won't connect through Ethernet. I went to the store hoping to find a PCI express card so I could just slap it in and be connected. Walmart didn't carry the item so found this usb to Ethernet thing.
View 1 RepliesI just received my MSI laptop with Windows 10 and I'm still feeling around on how to use the new OS (upgraded from Windows 7). I plugged in my ext. HDD and something popped up asking something along the lines of "What do you want to do with this?". I was like "Okay, everything's going fine so far."
The problem came when I wanted to eject my HDD though. I couldn't find the icon in the little notifications area with the arrow. I couldn't eject the HDD from "This PC" either. In the end, I just unplugged it, since there wasn't anything too important on it.
I've tried enabling "Quick Removal" in the device manager, but that checkbox doesn't even show up. Instead, it's replaced with the "Write-caching policy" options. I've also tried turning the notifications on in the taskbar, but that doesn't work either. I turned on task manager, safely eject..., and location, but none of them show up. I've restarted my computer as well.
How do you remove Quick access from the left side of your folders when you have the navigation enabled? I can remove all of the icons under it just fine, but I cannot remove Quick access as a whole.

View 2 RepliesWhich registry setting allows you to open the Links (Common Places FS Folder) explorer navigation pin as a drop down, as was the default behavior prior to the quick access pin being added in Win10?
For example, the Reg below will pin the Links folder back to the Explorer Nav Pane, however since the placeholders in the Links folder are shortcuts and not actual directories, no dropdown is able to be produced in the way that Windows 8 and backwards was able to.
Quick Access unfortunately doesn't offer the ability to rename anything pinned to it.
For example, I have a shortcut in the Links folder for both Start Menu locations (ProgramData and AppData), which I've renamed to differentiate between the two, however doing the same with Quick Access pins two folders named Start Menu as pinned placeholders... obviously a programmer missed that caveat of Quick Access.
