Installed windows 10 today. Edge browser worked for a time but now presents a blank white page. Fortunately Google Chrome still works. I keep getting screens which say Windows Shell Experience Host along the top over a blank window. I have installed Classic Shell, but these problems occurred before that.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days. The system was up and running that day and the next (yesterday 17 September). Today, the screen is blank and the mouse pointer comes up but no login box.
View 7 RepliesI am having a problem whereby my default browser keeps changing from IE11 back to either Edge or blank. Why this might be happening or what program is causing it to change? I thought it maybe the Windows Auto Update that keep changing but am now not so sure of that since the last recorded update is back on 14th January and my default Browser got changed again last evening.
The only other programs that run regularly are Norton Internet Security and Norton Utilities. However, I have been through the settings of both of those programs and cannot detect anything that would indicate that they change the default Browser.
Also, in IE11 under the advanced tab I have ticked the option the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser" and yet (a) I do not get a notification and (b) the default browser keeps getting changed.
Downloaded and installed 10 successfully, but when I try to open Chrome, I get a blank page with the spinning circle that says "loading". Tried to contact Microsoft customer support and was on hold for more than an hour.
The only reason I am able to post here is that I un-installed it and I'm back to Windows 7.
I primarily use the computer for internet access, word processing and e-mail.
I installed Windows 10 a couple of days ago and really like it so far. I have been trying out the new MS Edge browser. I noticed up towards the top in Top Sites it would populate with websites I visit frequently. Kind of like it did in IE previously when one would click on a new tab and it would show the top frequented sites. Makes it easy to return to them.
So this afternoon I noticed in Edge, suddenly the top sites field was blank all the way across.
Why this would have blanked out? I did not do any clearing out of anything...
In Windows 10 v1511, when I open a new blank tab in Microsoft Edge and I write on it any word and I press Enter, the browser tries to load the http://<searched_word> page rather than performing a search with the default search engine. Why?

View 7 RepliesIf I launch edge it's just displaying the search bar and top visited sites. The news feed / articles are missing in action. Maybe an issue MS side (at least I hope and that it's not my machine). Everything else works fine apart from this so I guess it's more an MS problem than mine
View 6 RepliesThe upper right profile picture on the default Startup Page of Microsoft Edge doesn't update.It keeps displaying the first profile picture I used when I installed Windows 10.Maybe it's a detail for most of the people but being a nitpicker, and not being given any option to modify it directly (and it should be tied to the Microsoft Account.All my other (tied to Microsoft account) profile pictures, on my phone (Nokia 1020/909) as well as on the online Microsoft services and Windows 10 update correctly, almost instantly, but not this one.
By the way, any valid link to download the WinDbg tool for Windows 10 (not the 8.1 one)?The official one doesn't work. Had found one that was working but I can't find it again. Got some random BSOD, probably tied to (a)faulty RAM stick(s), but I need to do further investigations, and the system restore deleted the tool installation.
Icons on desktop are all white i cant access my computer all blank pages control panel also all white my documents nothing. So i had to format hdd and clean instal from image backup and same thing!!! this backup image is 1000% clean. i scaned whole computer with malwarebytes, bitdefender, super anti spyware ccleaner, advanced system care no virus of any kind could be hardware issue???

I have windows 10 home operating system on my laptop.I have a problem with my file folder. when I first open it it shows that it works fine.However I've notice that on the left I see the OS and D drive as white icons. When i access any folders and then go back to the home file page it looks like this: and when i access other files they show empty folders (this is the program files folders)but i know this folders have files in them. Also when I access them i see white icons like this:I can open them and they work fine but my file folder is acting weird.
View 9 RepliesI am facing a problem with my laptop hp probook 450 G1 after upgrading to windows 10 ! After waking up from sleep I found a small blank white window in the left-up side . It last until the next restart pc ! I have updated windows update from setting>update & security > update windows. I have also downloaded the latest version of drivers from hp website.
View 1 RepliesDuring boot-up, I get a blank screen (shows cursor arrow which responds to touch pad movements), after the sign in page, which I can't I can't escape from except by forcing shut down and restart. The reboot can then take as long as five minutes to complete. I have considered using the restore route, but am warned that there is a long list of apps etc which will need re-installing, and this looks arduous.

View 1 RepliesWhat i am trying to do is; like in IE, Firefox, Chrome etc. i want to change the new tab page behaviour to homepage. I created a page which supports me at home and work, especially a person who really dislike the favorites tab and found my solution in custom homepage (new tab page).
I know that, right now we can't edit the new tab page in Edge (to change into a custom one). There are 3 options to choose. But instead of this, maybe i can edit the registry input and change the blank page into my local page.
Default web page zoom in the Edge browser suddenly became 250% instead of 200% which was perfectly fine for my Surface pro 3. All web pages look overzoomed now, can't use browser normally this way, so every time I follow a link or open a site I have to go to the menu and change the zoom back to 200%. And I didn't find a setting anywhere to set the default zoom of the browser.
IE displays page with 200% zoom still (which is my Windows display scaling) and works fine.
I have a feeling that that change happened after the last system update.
My mom just upgraded her HP laptop to 10 last night. I was playing around seeing if I like it. I realized stylish from the chrome store doesn't work. Is there a way to change the white background on CHROME AND EDGE to black or atleast to something darker. I already did the reg edit to put the black theme active. Works great. But both my mom and I are getting sick trying to browse the internet. We both use stylish to change the webpage to something that doesn't hurt our eyes. The white background on chrome is literally making both of us sick. Im typing this from my laptop that runs windows 7 because I havent upgraded yet. I tried downloading Invert from chrome store and themes but still nothing.

View 1 RepliesSince installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.

My Facebook page is unresponsive and blank white. The red icin at the globe suggest I have 4 interaction, and 1 message, I click on this and nothing happens. I've turned off the system, reboot.... still no response.
So we have these tools that need elevated rights within IE to install correctly. In windows 7 we always did the right click, run as admin thing. However, now after the upgrade and Edge there seems to be no availability to run it as admin. Tried all the icons & right click that I can find for Edge but not getting the option anywhere.Tried also with the Edge app from /Windows/Systemapps and it didnt give the option either. Of course if I go back to IE it allows me..
View 9 RepliesEdge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.
View 7 RepliesWINDOWS 10 PRO: Pursuant to the tutorial in Ten Forums, the FAVORITES folder in the EDGE browser is stored in the DataStore folder. Is that correct? Is the tutorial correct? My check of the folder indicates the tutorial was correct.
View 6 RepliesWhen I first got Win 10, the Edge browser worked great but after a time it simply quit working. The opening screen with the icon comes up but then it goes back to my desktop. I can still use Explorer but Edge had some features I liked and I would like to go back to it before too long. I have seen some comments here about proxy servers and the like but I am not brave enough to tinker with that.
