View 4 RepliesMS really promoted the Web Notes feature of Edge. And SUPPOSEDLY it can save an annotated page as something other than a picture, such as a working web page (search, working links, etc.). But on my Windows 10 PCs, no matter what the target I save to, all I get are pictures of the web page and no discernible options to specify a different format.
What's the secret? Or is that all Web notes can do? If so, what's the point? I can already save a full web page as a picture in my other browsers via extensions and. like just about everyone, have a program to doodle on a picture. Likewise I can save any full web page as a PDF (via an extension) and have far more mark up capability than Web Notes with free PDF editors.
I've been using Windows 10 for about 2 months now and do like the feel of it.Now, I have a problem with the Edge browser not saving a website I try to favorite in a new folder under Favorites. When favoriting a website to Favorites or Favorite Toolbar, is saves the website as the star becomes yellow. But, if I make a new folder under Favorites and try to save to it, no luck. The star does not change to yellow nor does it favorite it under the new folder created.
Additionally, when I try to remove the folder created under Favorites, right clicking gives me the "remove" option but when I select it, nothing happens.
I have the sticky notes icon on the task bar. When I hover over it my note shows up but when I click on it it does not appear maximized on the desk top.

View 1 RepliesI'm using a Surface 3. I installed the OneNote desktop (2016 I think; OneNotes doesn't make it easy to discover which version you're using) alongside the app. Mostly I work in the desktop OneNote, but for a quick note, pressing the top of the stylus and getting straight into taking a note is very convenient.
I'd swear when I first started doing this, the notes I created with the app appeared in the Quick Notes notebook of the desktop OneNote. Now they don't; they're different ones; older ones I think. How to make notes created in the app appear in a desktop version notebook?
I have a 2TB HDD which served as my primary (only) drive, until recently when we added a 500GB SSD. The plan was to use the SSD as the primary drive (C: ) and the HDD as the slave drive (D: ). I have reinstalled Photoshop CS6 onto my SSD and I planned to continue saving my files onto the HDD, however it continues to display this message whenever I try:
I've already tried searching on these forums and tried changing ownership as suggested here: Windows 10: You don't have permission to save in this location..... and here: Owner of Files and Folders - Change in Windows 10 and it seemed to go as they said it would... but I still have the same problem.
Am I able to operate programs through C: and then save them on D: ? I was just trying to make things simpler for me because I'm already confused having so many 'Picture' and 'Document' folders, it's hard to keep track of what's where.
I broke the front audio port, accidentally yanked on a wired connection and the audio is not working. So I am trying to remap the microphone port to be a headphone port. Using the instructions here : [URL] ...
Except when I restart my computer the regedit changes I made are reverted. I am just simply changing a binary value, Pin19, which my Realtek audio device connection for my mic, to be 20 00 00 00 which indicates headphone.
I tried giving permission to every username except CREATOR OWNER, which doesn't allow me to change. What can I do?
Realtek Audio ALC662 chipset
Software for this device doesn't allow for remapping, so Regedit is the hard way
Upgraded last night and am slowly working through minor issues. One thing that's confusing me - my username is supposed to be in the Administrator group on my computer, but my settings seem to be connected to the Home User group instead. I first discovered this when I tried to open Outlook and Outlook couldn't access my .pst file. I went into Security and gave the Home User group full access. Problem solved.
Next, I found that I couldn't save to any of my Documents folders. I found that if I changed Security settings to full access on each individual folder, it would allow me to save, create new folders, etc. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to make this a more global change? Changing access to every stinkin file is pretty annoying and it seems logical that there should be a global setting to do this. (One more thing related to user issues: what's the use of being in an Admin group if you don't actually have Admin permissions to run things? The cmd menu won't allow me to do anything...)
When Windows 10 downloads a new build from Windows Update, how can I save the esd file to create an installation DVD running on each computer?

I have Windows 7 on my desktop pc and I'm considering the free upgrade to W10. However, I'm on a metered internet connection and can't afford the 4 or more GB free download for W10. Would I be able download the W10 ISO image to a flash drive or usb hard drive using my laptop at the local library which had WIFI internet access. And then, be able to install the free W10 upgrade from the saved image file to my home desktop? I do understand that W10 does make some concession on the forced W10 updates for metered connection, but I'll deal with that later.

View 4 RepliesI am having trouble saving pictures to my "Pictures" folder. I right click on the picture sent to me via e-mail, Facebook, etc I click "Save Link As". I rename the picture and try to save it to my "Pictures" Folder. It says that I do not have permission to save to that folder so I have to save it to "Documents". What is going on? Why can I not save it to my "Pictures" Folder? I have saved a lot of pictures to it before. Why do I not have permission? It is my computer. How do I give myself permission to save it to my "Pictures" folder?
View 9 RepliesSince I upgraded to Windows 10 I am unable to open an existing Office file, edit and save it. I get popup messages saying that I don't have administrator permissions. I am logged in as administrator. Also, I'm told that the files are Read Only, yet when I check the file properties they are not set to Read Only.
View 4 RepliesOk I am a bit stuck here as I need to save a very large csv file to a txt file that has a certain format for it to be used in another application as an import file, I will attach the sample csv files here
My sheet will look like this
And the saved txt file needs to look like this in this format with the first line reflecting the same headings as below.
I have turned off 'Input indicator' under 'Turn system icons on or off', I have also adjusted my 'Date and time settings' to show Monday as the first day of the week.
All works well until I reboot, after reboot, all goes back to default, my settings have not been saved?
Installed Windows 10 and having following problems. I have tried to sort these out myself but am very challenged in these areas:
1. The calendar works fine but I do not receive pop-up notification reminders on laptop screen. I did some test entries in past few days and some came up but now none come up. ( I do miss the email notifications from Windows7). I deleted the Windows 7 calendar entries and re-entered on Windows 10. I'm sure all the right boxes are checked . Could this be a Windows 10 issue which may resolve later?
2. Where can I store incoming or sent emails for reference later? In W7, I kept them in the storage Folders- Drafts or Sent.
Is the only place MSN Outlook.Com? My main page for emails is Outlook ....
In Windows 7 and 8, when I saved an Excel input.csv file to a master.csv file, it would just save.
Now in Windows 10, the Excel file opens up and has to be saved manually (file save as...).
Is there a way to get it to just save as it did in Windows 7 and 8, as opposed to having the file open up like that?
I want to save material in flash drive....... can't find "send to" icon or directions.....

This happened after install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update.
I don't know why or when but suddenly Windows became unable to save wherever change I made to a folder. Since Win7 I despise this "new" system in which, if you want to make a folder organize it's elements by Modification Time, you must do it in every single folder and if you have a lot, that becomes really annoying. Now, the thing is that I have My Videos folder organize by Modification Time, so I go, right click, view options, more columns..., I pick it and then I do it.
But when I reload the folder it doesn't save any of what I just did. It goes back to default which is organize by Name. Also, I have it set to Very Large Icons, that doesn't either. I tried resetting them to default, I tried running sfc/scannow and it did repair something but didn't solve my issue. I'm on the edge of reformatting. I can't stand this.
My Windows 10 laptop does not save accounts and passwords for sites that I want to do so with. Now, my Windows 10 Desktop PC functions as it is supposed to with no problem, but not my laptop. I have it enabled to do so, but it does not. It asks to save them, but if I log out and log back in, I find that I have to input everything manually.
View 1 RepliesI seem to have a problem trying to save file to my default Docs, vid and Pics folder on my C drive. I have attached a pic of what it says.I have changed the permissions to let me do this or am I looking in the wrong place? If I save the files to the desktop however and then move to the relevant folder it works fine.
