The other day I was connected to the internet via Ethernet cable I bought around 3 weeks ago and it was working well with no problems, but for the past two days when I plug in my ethernet cable, my laptop doesn't detect it and it says "Network cable unplugged".

View 1 RepliesWin 10 32 bit will only load properly with Ethernet cable. Discovered this looping issue when I moved the PC and went to use Wi-Fi. Plug cable back in and everything goes back to normal. Troubleshooter doesn't find anything wrong.
View 8 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 yesterday from windows 7. I noticed that my network isn't working. It says that cable is unplugged but my cable is fine. I tried different cables but s still the same problem . My internet worked fine yesterday( in my windows 7) . My drivers are up to date. My wifi works fine only internet isn't working. When I press troubleshot it says that cable is unplugged or your broadcom netxtreme gigbait adapter have problem with hardware or driver.

I get the message that "Ethernet Doesn't Have A Valid IP-configuration". I tried to reinstall the network driver, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew as admin but it cannot find the "Default Gateway" and when I type ipconfig /renew it cannot connect to the DHCP server.

View 1 RepliesA couple days ago I noticed that instead of having the ethernet in my taskbar that it is connected to wifi. I dont understand that because I have been using hardwire forever. To top it off my xbox connects via ethernet, but my pc wont. have tried the same cable that connects my xbox. I am pretty sure this is causing serious game lag, and i dont know what to do at this point. i cant access my router settings either. i type 192.168.1.1 and it doesnt load. that is the same ip address that i have always used before.
So this solution did work in a sense. Once reinstalled my drivers, my computer did detect that there was a ethernet plugged in, but it said the there was no connection. I disabled wifi on the computer, so it can only connect to ethernet. even tho it says that there is not internet connection through ethernet, everything is working great. It permanently has the Caution symbol over my internet.
My problem is i use a hardline into my computer and upon starting it up yesterday was greeted with the problem “no ethernet cable installed or connected”. I have replaced the cable already/restarted both the computer and router multiple times/did a system restore and none of those worked. Also disabled and re enabled the adapter multiple times.
The only thing that seemed to work or hint at the problem was a windows 8 forum that said to use an elevated command prompt to do “sfc/scannow” and that came back with errors. There was a “DSIM” command that was unable to find a correct download location.
Where to start so to begin with my issues started when we got a new router. We had issues with the old one so we installed a new router and got it working fine WiFi worked alright but Ethernet would not connect it my computer when I ran the troubleshooter said one or more network Protocols were missing from my computer I'm running windows 10 version 1511. I went on google on my laptop to start finding a fix and I must have tried every option in the book just about I am losing my mind over how to fix this. Finally I tried reinstalling the Network drive Uninstalling my current one going on google finding my most updated one ect. and now the issue is no longer about the protocols but its saying my Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration
View 2 RepliesI have been unable to do a direct cable connect. Settings are not available. In settings, to do a cable connect it asks for a name and ISP. There isn't any. I never had a problem doing this before and I can do it with my apple computer. It has now been 2 days trying to figure out how to do what should be the easiest connection. No problem with any wireless----not everyone has wireless! Your microsoft stores have a long way to go to match the apple stores. If you can't get a connection to the internet it is very difficult to communicate or download any patches.

Ive tested that there actually is internet through the cable in the wall by connecting it to my Macbook, and it works perfectly. what can I do to fix this?
View 1 RepliesLast night I plugged in headphones to the small round jack (not the USB) and sound worked fine as Iistened to a program. When I unplugged the headphones, I cannot get any sound to come out of the computer. I've tried restarting, muting/un-muting, and I've looked at all audio settings I can find. I cannot locate headphones settings - they don't show up anywhere. I recently installed the Windows 10 update a couple of weeks ago and this is the first time I've used headphones in this jack. Wondering if I need updated drivers but can't locate and system says drivers are fine.
View 17 RepliesMy HDMI Cable is not working on my Asus Notebook after I did the Windows 10 update. I have tried fixing the sound and resolution on control panel, i also made sure all updates and installation of apps are up to date, however, the TV doesn't seem to recognize the cable anymore, or the computer.
Tried changing the settings on the TV as suggested on one of these forums. I must be missing something.

i'm using a powerline adapter directly plugged into the wall on my desktop. And it has worked excellent before, but suddenly someday it did not get a valid IP adress anymore for my pc, i have tried giving it an ip adress manually but without succes. i also tried updating the driver but there was no update.
my network and sharing center displays unidentified network and windows problem solver detects the problem 'network name' does not have a valid ip configuration.
So yesterday my internet stopped working which is ethernet to d-link hardline ac adapter to router. Xbox is connected same way and it works perfect. Tried all the usual reset/restart stuff. Keep getting unidentified network no internet. My router reads my PC so i know its connected. Updated the ethernet controller drivers to win 10. No luck. My wireless adapter doesnt work either but i hooked it up and while it connects to my router and has a good signal it will work for a few mins and than drop out.

I am even making this post from the adapter that supposedly has no access. I have been searching around for a solution, but no problem seems similar to mine. Check out the screenshot below.

I've just moved house and isp. I am trying to connect my pc to my router via an ethernet switch.
At first my pc would not even connect to a network so deleted and reinstalled the ethernet drivers.
Managed after several attempts to change my network from public to private, but i still have no access to the network.
I have two computers running windows 10 and until recently they were both connected via WiFi, but recently after having problems with the WiFi my ISP told me the router should be connected to the master telephone socket.
Until they told me this the router was connected to a phone extension roughly halfway between my two computers, one downstairs and one upstairs. and it has been like that for almost a year with a reasonable speed to both computers, but just recently the WiFi speed has dropped so much it is almost impossible to use it.
So i have moved the router upstairs and connected it to the master phone socket and its so close to my PC i have used a Ethernet wire to connect to the computer and my download speed has doubled to the PC.
But one problem i have now is the other computer is now not visible on the network. so why when they were both connected via WiFi both were visible, but now one is connected via Ethernet and one WiFi they can not see each other.
Also now my router is upstairs the laptop downstairs connected via WiFi is so slow its useless. What to do i know i can get homeplugs but do they really work ...

Also it may be worth letting you know i am not directly connected to the router via an ethernet cable, i am using the plug in things that sends the signal down the house electrical wires. Maybe this is an issue although it wasnt on my xp pc.
I have two computers working on Windows 7 that are directly connected to each other via an Ethernet cable utilising Windows Sharing and all works fine.
However, I have two other computers on Windows 10 that are also directly connected to each other vian an Ethernet cable and I cannot get them to see each other.
All the settings are the same as the Windows 7 devices but there may be something different in Windows 10 that makes what was a very simple process now more difficult.
How to successfully get two windows 10 devices connected and found if there is some subtle setting that I am missing.
I am completely wiping my hardrive with DBAN and doing a clean install of windows 10 with a dvd I created with the media creation tool. Will the fresh installation of windows come with a driver for ethernet cable so I can get on the internet.

View 5 RepliesI am having trouble getting my internet connection to work with an ethernet cord. I have no problem using wifi, but I get disconnected on wifi pretty frequently. I have two ethernet cords in my possession, one of them is new, and neither works. I've tried connecting to the router and the modem.
I've used used troubleshooter with both wires while plugged into the router and the modem. I've created a connection that has our given username and our password in it.
I turn off the wifi specifically by clicking on the wifi icon on the bottom right of my computer screen. It seems that the ethernet cord is not detected.
