Taskbar Icons Disappear Momentarily And Then Reload?
Nov 26, 2015Peculiar behaviour lately has surfaced,occasionally without rhyme or reason the taskbar icons disappear (sometimes all,and sometimes a few) for only a moment and then repopulate.I'm not running anything in particular and have my background processes down to a minimum.No ill effect from this happening would just like to find out why,I've thought about rebuilding/refreshing the icon cache but not sure that's going to solve the problem.

Feb 5, 2016Woke up this morning to find that on my desktop the Store keeps saying "Check Your Connection" and prompting me to reload the page. Meanwhile, Cortana can't pull up interests. It's not an actual connectivity issue, since web+email+everything else works just fine (I'm posting from the same computer now). Tried the obvious things, plus a sfc /scannow with no luck. BTW, I'm not using Insider builds, but I tried to move to it just to see if a new build would fix my PC and it says "Something went wrong, we don't know what." Perhaps that issue is connected as well. It's odd, because nothing has changed recently.

Now when I type bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd and hit enter. Then I got the error message and look below:
bootrec is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
So is Windows 10 not recognize with that word " bootrec " and what is the other word for this. How to fix MBR issue in Windows 10.
Drivers/Hardware :: Didn't Install Printers And Can't Even See Them
Aug 22, 2015I have two common home printers, Lexmark inkjet and HP laserjet on a home network, and when I upgraded from W7 to W10 they were not installed. The W10 network scan brought up nothing, even though both printers were switched on and 'awake'. Even with the laptop placed right next to the printers, still nothing! So I now have no way of printing and no way of installing a printer!
PS: I also have blurry fonts, and I see from this forum and the web in general that that's a whole separate world of grief!
Laptop Screen Flashing - OS Didn't Respond
Oct 8, 2015I was watching some vids on YouTube and then all the suddenly a msg pops up on my taskbar. I was going to see what it has to say but then the screen all the suddenly starts flashing. I clicked once and it went dark. I put it on hibernation then woke it and I was able to move my cursor but the OS didn't respond. It's ok now but I am afraid of viruses and things like that. The message icon was a triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I am currently running Windows 10 64-bit on a Lenovo T410

Feb 10, 2016 I recently upgraded to Windows 10, Put OS onto SSD along with a few other essentials and have a second hard drive for storage.The shared Pictures, Videos, Documents (etc) folders were all by default on my relatively small SSD. how to move location of the folders (right click the relevant folder, select 'Properties', then select 'Location', then 'Move', browse to where you want it to go . . .)
Here's the thing, in the process of moving my 'Pictures' folder to what is currently labelled as my F: drive, I managed to browse to F - but not actually select a folder.My 'Pictures' location is now my F: drive , oops, I'm now feeling like a bit of a donkey! but hey ho, I'll just move 'Pictures' again - to a folder this time - with a name right? - NO, that wont work - I guess because it now thinks I want to move the entire contents of my F: drive maybe?
OK - well, there's an option to 'Restore Default' (within the Location tab) - I select that and it looks promising, the original target on my C: drive shows in the window but upon pressing 'Apply' it then asks:Do you want to move all of the files from the old location to the new location?
Old location: F:
New Location: C:UsersLaptopPictures
We recommend moving all of the files so that programs needing to access the folder's content can do so.And if I press yes, I get:The folder can't be moved hereAccess is denied.Basically the same issue again - The 'Folder' in this case is my F: drive that has other shared folders within it - so I guess that's why I can't do this?So, currently I have a drive as a location for my 'Pictures' not a convenient holding folder within that drive.The method for moving all the other folders has been fine (where I actually moved them to named folders on a different drive).

Nov 7, 2015I recently upgraded my laptop, specifically "Acer aspire v5-473pg" into windows 10 and now I'm trying to do a clean install. The problem is there's a lot of partition on the partition menu when proceeding into a clean install and I don't know a lot about them. My laptop comes with win 8 single L and I didn't upgrade to windows 8.1, is it safe to delete this partitions (i'll attach some images)
btw my laptop didn't come up with installation disc or recovery disc. Can I just delete them all? I mean wouldn't they harm or do any corrupt files in my laptop? I found out that those recovery partition is essential if I don't have any recovery backups and MSR partition is from windows itself. Any step that I must do to clean install windows 10? should I just format Partition 4:Acer"? would it still be considered clean install? or should I delete something from this partitions?
Drivers/Hardware :: Keyboards Disabled - Most Of The Apps Didn't Work
Dec 12, 2015Upgraded (???) a Windows 8 machine (HP with MS ergonomic keyboard) to Windows 10 a couple of months ago. It seemed to work, but most of the apps didn't work, and I couldn't access files as Administrator. this week I upgraded (???) a Lovono using Windows 7 to Windows 10. They are networked with printers and other computers via ethernet. Thursday afternoon the HP stopped recognizing key strokes. It allows password input on restart, but will not type anything else. It clicks like the buffer is full. Yesterday the Lovono started doing the same thing. My first thought was virus, although McAfee runs constantly on both machines. Used Malwarebytes on both and found a few PUPs, but no malware or virus. One forum suggested using DriverWizz, but it didn't change the keyboard driver. The Windows 7 computer on the same network, sharing files with both, is unaffected as yet. I'm thinking the solution will be to junk Windows 10 and go back to 7 and 8. If Windows 10 were a Vacuum Cleaner it would be terrific, but sucking like this is not all that terrific for an OpSys.

Jan 1, 2016I used XP for almost fourteen years without a problem. Now that I have windows10 I haven't been able to add pictures to exist8ing cd's. No problems with data or music. I also cannot view the picture CD's. I double click burn to disc but nothing happens. I get a list but no way to view it. I get a notice,these files are ready....etc. but when I click on a folder to transfer new contents...nothing happens. I'm at a loss on how to procede.

Feb 10, 2016I'm planning on moving from Win 7 to Win 10 via a new install (although it seems I should upgrade first - I'll read about that). My questions have to do with my Win 7 applications...
#1) Is there a list someplace of applications that need to be "de-registered" so they can be registered on the new Win 10 clean install? For example, I'm pretty sure the Adobe suite has to be deregistered - maybe MS Office too?
#2) Is there a way to move an application? By that I mean I either don't have the original install files anymore or in some cases I've found some useful software from [URL] .... where you download the install file but it has to be installed and registered that day. If you wait a day, you can't register it. Any way to "move" these programs? I realize generally you can't just move applications and then the added complication of going from Win 7 to Win 10.
Erasing Windows Of Existing Machine And Put To New One
Jan 26, 2016I have another Windows 7 installed on another Mac via bootcamp. If I am going to erase the Windows partition of this machine and install Windows 7 on another computer, do I need to contact MS to break the tie between Windows 7 and existing hardware before I can install Win7 on a new Mac with authentication?
What are the procedure? As far as I recall, in XP time, we needed to call MS when we changed machine.

Installation :: Existing Disks Not Recognised / Booting Of Old SDD
Feb 10, 2016My nice new SDD arrived, I installed it into the PC and disconnected the other SATA drives bar the DVD, spun up my W10 DVD and fairly quickly had a new activated install of W10.
So I plugged in the old SDD (it has the old C: on it) and the HDDs and it booted off the old SDD.
Unplugged the old SDD, plugged in the new one plus the HDDs, it wouldn't boot.
Went back to just the new SDD installed, boots fine, hot-plugged the HDDs and it wouldn't see them.
So right now I'm back where I was with the old SDD and the two HDDs which are mirrored.

This is my hi-spec tower I had built for me in 2013 and I've had no end of trouble with it: Blue tooth not working, some USB2 and 3 sockets disconnecting and re-connecting erratically every few seconds, same with the HDMI monitor that does not integrate well with Windows, boot interrupts by Asus' POST saying the CPU Fan is not working which it is, WD My Book external drives seen in W7 but not in W10 and now, Adobe Acrobat DC Pro crashing after about 10 seconds of use.
Most of these issues still remain to the same or lesser degree: ASUS' after sales service and 3 year warranty is useless but Adobe went through the full test procedures and concluded that I needed a "clean" re-install of Windows 10. I am almost paranoid about keeping everything up to date, especially drivers and I am suspicious of generic drivers unless the hardware manufacturer says its OK like with the DVD optical drive for example.
From Windows 7 Update, the 10 Upgrade was seamless some months ago. But after clicking reset (keep my files option in Settings), and the process ran to the Welcome date page of rocks on the beach in shadow, Windows 10 will not proceed to the login page. Usually I just hit the spacebar but nothing. I have tried re-booting and re-setting but the same. Sometimes the MS plugged-in keyboard is active sometimes not. The MS plugged-in mouse is never active. Sometimes also the WiFi is connected but sometimes not. I have also tried ctrl-alt-del when the keyboard is working but also nothing. No I don't have a boot-up disc - I never needed one all through MS-DOS, 95, XP and W7!
There's nothing wrong with Adobe Acrobat DC Pro: I downloaded the allowable 2nd installation to my new DELL Inspiron 17 laptop on W10 Home and it runs like a train. But on my hi-spec desktop, it crashes after about 10 seconds and Adobe have thoroughly tested it all.
So what do I do to get to the login page?

Why Get A Permission Error When Saving Existing Word Files
Oct 14, 2015I've recently installed Windows 10 and since today I'm having this issue when I edit an existing Word document and try to save it.
The error:
"Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.(C:User...Ongoing NotesInfoSoft.docx)"
I've noticed that there is a new user account that I didn't have before, which is an account associated to my Gmail. However, I've checked which account I logged in before opening the Word document, modifying and trying to save it - and it is an account with theoretically full control.how to fix it?
Installation :: Error Couldn't Create A New Partition Or Locate Existing One
May 30, 2015I am trying to install Windows 10 10130 onto my laptop's blank partition that is 400 GB. Upon installing I noticed it gives me an error that says "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one." I'm not sure what this means, as I have repeatedly formatted and erased the partition to no avail. I do have another partition with Windows 8.1 installed, so I am trying to salvage that and get the Windows 10 installed onto the other one.
For some strange reason. On boot, It asks me to pick either Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, and Windows 8 isn't installed...
This laptop is a mess. I bought it used, and it has only given me issues. Luckily I have my Desktop so it's not like I rely on this laptop.
