View 1 RepliesI'm not sure what all is affected by "Windows services" not connecting but since that happened, I am unable to access my Outlook email and a solitaire game won't open. I'm also trying to update Windows Defender but it won't finish updating. And, I have checked to see if an update is due and it just never stops looking for one. Little blue dots, little blue dots, little blue dots...
I have not downloaded anything from anywhere.
I never had any problems with Vista or 8.1. I'm almost ready to go back to 8.1.
Every morning when i switch on laptop and error occurs"failed to connect to a windows "
View 2 RepliesWhen I turned on my Windows 10 Desktop PC this morning, it said it failed to connect to a Group Policy Service or something similar to that.
This is my Desktop PC. It's a Acer Aspire XC603G Desktop.
I'm having the "Failed to connect to a Windows service. Windows couldn't connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents standard users from signing in" message in my laptop. It was updated from Windows 8 to 10 when we purchased it. At the beginning the laptop works well but now i'm having this message. I saw the a video and the GPC status is not running and in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENT CONTROL/SERVICES/GPSVC in the Image Path is netsvcs instead gpsvdGroup.
The problem is that when i went to SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS NT/CURRENT VERSION/SVCHOST And then to the netsvcs I did'n t have to add it because it is already there, it was not missing. I verified Dword values and all of them have the same values as recommended in the video.
So after a stressful day at school I got home anxiously waiting to get on my computer, only to find out that after a recent update my computer has completely stopped responding. Now in the first few hours of dealing with this problem I was able to access the Windows repair options, only to find out that all of them failed. I was unable to do a system restore, nor diagnose my computer or even nuke it.
Later on things eventually got worse because now I'm not even able to access the options to fix my computer anymore or even downgrade to Windows 8.1. All that pops up after my computer starts up is "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.
When I boot into win 10 I get a black screen that says:
Windows Failed to start
Status: 0xc000000f
When I boot to a Win 10 Install disk I select:
English, next
Repair your computer
Troubleshoot
Advanced options
Startup Repair
It says it's Diagnosing problems
Attempting repairs
Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC.
What can I do to fix the boot up problem?
I've had issues with my CPU and mobo, so I got new ones from a friend, but there were vital pieces missing. I rebuilt my PC with all of its original parts as best as I could, and now Windows 10 is stuck at the logo with no circle. I followed my motherboard's manual for all the plug ins and whatnot, and everything seems to be in order, however the actions of my PC don't seem to demonstrate that.
View 6 RepliesMy Windows 7 was updating to Windows 10. When it appeared to almost be done configuring a message appeared stating the Windows 10 could not be installed and it was restoring the previous version of Windows.
Well that did not work. The pc will not boot up now. Instead I get: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>system32hal.dll Please reinstall a copy of the above file"
I hope I can add the file using the win7 dvd. I know I was getting low on hard drive space, but had cleared enough to have 4 gig or so free. It was either not mentioned anywhere or I missed how much hd space would be needed. Of course I am assuming that the install bombed due to this?
I had a lot of files so I decided to reset to factory settings. Computer at 2% turned off, so I tryed to turn it on again, but windows refused to start, it turned off after the manufacturer's logo showed, so I decided to download windows 10 installer [URL] ..... and put it into my USB. I tryed to reinstall windows through usb port, but it needs to turn on the windows that can not be launched (possibly due to incomplete reset to factory settings that might have deleted important windows files). How can I re-install windows 10 without needing to access windows?
View 3 RepliesI can't update to Windows, I got to 97% and then it failed, got a pic showing 96%.
View 3 RepliesIm using an activated version of Windows 10 but updates fail saying "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later."
So far I have tried:-
Using microsofts fixit app, it said it fixed errors but the update still wont work.
Editing the registry - UX from 1 to 0
those are the main fixes I have tried plus some more basic ones.
The PC has 2GB RAM, when I saw the Task Manager, it doesnt have many services as my laptop has, it doesnt have like Service Local Host etc. It's memory is only 36% but my laptop, has Service Local Host etc and many services has 60% (Note: The PC has only one system service and the rest are apps.
View 1 RepliesI am working on a .reg file to disable all the unwanted services. I do not know the keys to use for the following services and would like adding them to my .reg located below.
Security AccountsSystem Event NotificationWindows FirewallWindows Eventlog
And can you look over my current list and see if there is anything that 100% must not be turned off? Is there anything else you would add?
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesSchedule]
"Start"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesALG]

I just reinstalled Windows 10 (clean). Now I see that I can't turn on Location Services, so I can't use cortana!
If I click on "change" (turn on) in the settings menu, nothing happens.
If I try to open cortana settings, nothing happens as well.
Which running services are ok to disable for improving the performance (or to reduce the RAM memory consumption)?
View 3 RepliesI have windows 10 now and my computer takes forever to go on my homepage. It says 'windows couldn't connect to group policy client services. prevents standard users from signing in'. It also takes a long time to sign out and google chrome takes forever to come up. Windows edge sometimes works a little faster. I wish I never accepted windows 10. My daughter moved away to university and I'll never be able to figure out how to fix this. I tried to use the windows 10 app 'contact support' but it didn't work.
View 1 RepliesAs stated in the subject line I can't connect my Windows 7 Pro system to a Windows 10 Home system via the network without a password being required. Strangely, I can connect from the Windows 7 Pro system to two other Windows 7 Home Premium systems on the same network without a password being required.
Also, all these systems (including the Windows 10 Home system) can connect to the Windows 7 Pro system without any password being required. How I can eliminate the requirement for a password to access the Windows 10 Home system from the Windows 7 Pro system? The Windows 10 Home system version number is 1511, build 10586.0.
I have recently upgrade to Win 10 from windows 7 and it was running fine until it started booting with the analyzing and repairing windows screen. I had tried to get out of it by windows repair and by system restore but there were no points to restore too. I ended up trying the windows reset which failed when I selected to leave my files so then I tried the reset including removing my files. It failed part way through saying it could not complete the action and now when I boot up every time I get "An operating system wasn't found" etc. I do not have a windows CD or know my windows registration number.
View 4 Repliesi having issue with windows store app that not updating 0x080073B0C update failed please try again.
i already tried uninstall the app, which cause me stuck, because i cant install it anymore i also already tried wsreset, not working i disable few stuff... tried turn back on but nothing working...
turn on back location/position function to on (i disabled it) also in local group policy , i set back to allow microsoft account (i set to block sign-in because i dont want to login)
i read that there is another method that stop windows update service then move/rename softwaredistribution... so windows update make new fresh directory i havent tried it, because it seems there is something wrong with the app itself and if possible i dont want to messing with system files.
Is there an easy way to disable and re-enable groups of services / processes in Windows 10 so that the computer can be switched between optimization 'profiles' for, say, routine office work, audio/video editing, and gaming?
I have two computers now - one for routine office work (e.g., Office suite, Quickbooks) and a dedicated audio/video editing workstation. The latter is very powerful and I'd like to use it for both jobs, but not if all those background processes (59 total), like Cortana, OneDrive, iCloud mean sacrificing resources for critical A/V work. Neither do I have the time or patience to manually disable scores of Startup apps and services each time I throw my A/V hat on.
So I was messing with the services startup parameters and I managed to change something which is now preventing my USB ports from working. My kb/mouse lights up during boot and then goes off and stays off just before the login screen appears. How I could fix this without reinstalling windows again? I've tried all ports but none of them work .
View 1 RepliesI seem to be having a weird thing where my computer makes the dis/connect sound randomly but especially when I am gaming. There doesn't seem to be a loss in connectivity of my keyboard or mouse as I can still move around in the game.
I'm running a wireless mouse and separate wireless keyboard (i.e there are two receivers connected to my pc)
Also something else that is weird and may be to do with it, my gpu (970) is showing up in the "safely disconnect" menu in the bottom right of my taskbar.
In Edge Home page or the News app?
View 4 RepliesMy win10 installation got stuck at 91% so I had to restart and disable my antivirus and other services, but when I start MediaCreationToolx64 it starts to download the 3gb again from the beginning. Is there an installer somewhere in the downloaded files that can let me skip this or do I have to download it again?
View 1 RepliesAs we all know, the classical Windows XP has a tool.... XpLitePro ... to remove all unwanted software and services you wish to have deleted. XpLite could both remove hidden programs/services which are not visible in configuration screen/ remove programs section
Question: Does Windows 10 have such a tool already? I can't hardly wait to remove unwanted stuff..
