File Explorer Opens At Startup
Dec 20, 2015I recently installed the November update on my computer and now the File Explorer runs at every start up. How can I go disable this and go back to normal?

Feb 10, 2016I've had windows 10 since November and just today it's been playing up. None of the apps open - they display a message "element not found" for explorer exe or for other things like chrome, ms word you click on it and nothing happens. Can't even turn off the computer (start > turn off just does nothing) I've tried pressing the power button on my PC but that just seems to put it into sleep mode and not properly restart it.

EDIT: Also, double clicking folders opens a new window as well.

Aug 7, 2015In Windows 7 I could specify the start folder for Explorer by entering its path in the Target field of the Properties/Shortcut. This is now not possible as this filed is now grey (= read only) and cannot be modified.

Sep 16, 2015This one is aggravating. File Explorer keeps loading at startup. The client can't say for certain if the issue was present before or after upgrading from Win7. This wasn't the primary issue- there was malware present on the system. I have run Adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller, Rogue Killer, and aswMBR scanner. System is returning clean logs now.
I also installed Revo Uninstaller and removed Adobe Acrobat DC and CutePDF, as I've read that Adobe will cause this issue, and since there were 2 PDF viewers install I suspected some conflict.
I have tried using regedit, but the two suggestions I found from Microsoft- the reg entries don't exist for win10

Apps :: Script Error Message Now Always Opens During Startup
Sep 24, 2015A script error message started opening about a week after I upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10.
Here is the info in in the message. I guess it's about what broke in the script. [URL] ....
It asks whether I want to keep running the script. Yes No. Since the message just told me the script was broken, I press No. The startup completes. I can't see that there are issues with how the computer operates.
Opens Folder At Boot - Msconfig Stuck At Selective Startup
Oct 5, 20151. If I try to select normal startup in msconfig.exe, it doesn't stick; always reverts to selective startup.
2. When I boot to the Windows 10 desktop, it always opens a Windows Explorer window at /windows/system/ which shows only a Speech folder in the right panel.

When In Internet Explorer New Window Opens In Edge
Mar 7, 2016I use my computer in a business. For one of our companies I have to use Internet explorer. When I go to the form I want it takes me to the edge browser for some reason and it not typeable. The other two computers in our office work just fine.

I've tested my theory by restarting Windows Explorer from the task manager. Of course restarting the computer. Disable Automatic startup of Microsoft OneDrive. I scanned my System with Malwarebytes, nothing was found.

I know there have been problems on this in earlier versions of Windows.The ONLY time a folder opens in a new window, is when the folder is located in the PICTURES folder. Feb 10, 2016One of my computers is currently running Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 build 10586.71 and I've recently been having a very strange problem: Despite the fact that all my autoplay options for DVD's and Blu-ray's are set to "Do nothing" almost every time I insert a DVD or Blu-ray disc an Explorer window opens to the DVD drive, the disc is ejected and a dialog that says "Insert disc" appears. If I'm persistent enough and insert it 15 or 20 times it'll stop and the disc isn't ejected and I can open it with either VLC or another software player. This problem is not just a single disc but multiple DVD and blue-ray movies, the discs are clean and play just fine in other Windows 7 and 10 computers as well as standalone Blu-Ray players.
I've looked around and I only found one thread with one other person complaining about this problem (from back in September 2015) and he said it went away after some Windows updates.

Dec 25, 2015Under the Network tab of File Explorer, I can see three entries, one of which is my router (with attached Hard Drive) and two computers, each running Windows 10. When I expand the router entry, I can see my hard drive files. I can also see my Users icons when I expand one of the computer's tabs. However, when I click on the other computer's name to search for users, all I see is a message that "This folder is empty". In fact, the folder is not empty, as there are two users on the computer. How I can get this computer to show users, etc.?

Oct 19, 2015Using Win10 Pro x64. I would like to disable windows showing .zip files in explorer as a folder...When you highlight it the contents inside the .zip are shown in the right pane view. I've scoured the net and found ways for Win7(which I did disable .zip folders on my other Win7 machine) and Vista, perhaps 8 too but I don't want to risk trying a method for older versions of windows. Any solution/reg hack or whatever to disable .zip folder?

Aug 8, 2015I just installed Windows 10. Not sure if I like it, but I'm trying hard.
Problem: When I go to File Explorer, in the left panel, when I click on a folder name, the contents of that folder (both sub-folders and files) show in the right panel.
In the left panel, when I click on ">" beside a folder name, it will expand in the left panel showing the sub-folders, but not "loose files".
I could have sworn that in earlier versions of Windows the files also showed.
Is there a option setting somewhere to change this behavior and to show the files also in the left panel?
Windows Explorer Opens Duplicate Windows
Feb 10, 2016Since Windows 10 preview, I've had really weird Explorer behavior. Sometimes, when I click a directory, Explorer will open two instances of it in two new windows, in addition to the already-open window that I was clicking from. This happens at random with different folders, usually ones that are sub-folders of folders on the desktop.
There's no rhyme or reason, and I'm not accidentally double-clicking. I have my folder options set to single-click open and windows open in the same window. I've also reset my folder options and this problem has not changed.
I've even reset the computer and still experience this issue, so it's not a lingering bug from the preview, I don't think. I'm not on the preview any more.

It runs fine when I run it myself, but it won't run at startup. How can I get to run when I start the computer?

Oct 5, 2015I now have issues with Windows 10 starting up. I've tried using the win 7 disc to do a repair but it's hard to tell if it's done anything. All I have right now is a mouse cursor and a black screen and because it was win 10 I have no disc for it. Just older versions on my flash drive but I can't seem to access it.
