View 9 RepliesSo I just updated to ten, and have all the updates, but whenever I try to run a .exe file, it gives me the error "|:
File System Error (-1073741819)
This is a clean Windows 10 Pro 64-bit install on a home-built system (ASUS Sabertooth X99 with an i7). When attempting to open graphics files (JPG, GIF, etc) this is the error that pops up:
File System Error (-2147098360)
After I backup I get an error message: The system cannot find the file specified (0x80070002).
View 13 RepliesUpgraded to Windows 10. Was working fine now NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM error boot loop. How do I get a repair disc to repair windows?
View 1 RepliesJust upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10 Pro.
The upgrade appears to have gone well except for the error which I will describe below.
The symptoms: When attempting to install any software which requires administrator privileges, I am getting one of two errors.
More specifically, I was attempting to install "Speccy" to get more information about my hardware. I double clicked the installer and immediately received the following error: [URL] ....
I attempted a reboot, and then after that, I did a disk cleanup and basically checked everything including the previous versions of windows. Then I rebooted again and have still received the same error.
Now when attempting to install some other software I have either received the error I show above, OR I will sometimes get the following error: [URL] ....
I have done a bunch of googling and have found zero information about those errors or how to fix them, besides "reinstall windows" ...
I REALLY don't want to re-install windows, and would like to fix this problem without wiping out my current installation.
After updating to Windows 10 from Win 7 Ultimate I can no longer do anything that requires admin privileges.
It appears as though something is wrong with UAC on my profile.
When I open an image on my windows 10 PC it fails to open in the photos app and force closes the app and shows the message "file system error (-2145042388)". Some other apps like Adobe Reader touch, Mail & Calendar, Calculator and many more are also not opening. When I connect the PC to Internet it works and all apps open but with a delay.
View 3 RepliesI have been facing the File System error (-2143326205) ever since I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Error description: All Windows Store Apps (Metro/modern/whatever they are called now) crash when I am not online. The Photos app is by far the only app that has given me an error dialog box. I can assume that all apps are crashing for the same reason because all of them start working again when I get back online.
I am not a great fan of these modern apps and the user interface clutter caused by them and hardly use them. But there are some games like Minesweeper that I want to play when I am on the go. I dunno why Microsoft even made calc a modern app (can't even multiply big numbers when not connected).
So far, I have not been able to find a proper solution to this problem. I guess it is a problem in Windows 10 itself and it will take a while for Microsoft to set it right. But I have an idea. Is there any software that creates a fake internet adapter that is always connected to the internet so that the apps think that I am online and don't crash? Is there an actual working solution?
I'm trying to copy a ripped movie file (iso) from my G drive to desktop. The file is 45GB. It gets to 99% then a message comes up saying the process can't complete because the System has the file open. I have nothing running and can't find anything where the System is accessing/linking to this file.
I thought it might be a permissions issue, so I wanted to download the Reg edit to add a "take ownership" command but the TenFourms link is not working. Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 10 <<<< won't open web page.
I ran sfc /scannow and there are some errors reported that could not be fixed. There is a CBS.log file but I have not looked at it yet.
I also ran the DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (I forget the full command line now) and it came back saying it could not find the files "online".
Whenever booting my pc I get a "operating system wasn't found error". I've checked to make sure my hard drive was set to the boot drive and I've tried reinstalling but that doesn't work either.
View 1 RepliesI have a lenovo system that can't find the system disk ... Ctrl alt delete only gets me a blank screen and any key gets me the same error message....
View 3 RepliesInstalled Windows 10 (free) off Microsoft over Windows 7 home premium. System rebooted, started opening windows 10 and I received an error about system ra into a problem and needs to reboot.
Error was System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled. After about 20 reboots and same problem error, gave up. Can't get into my system!
I can't run the command "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth". Every time returns the error 0x800f081f.

Until today I was able to open .jpg etc pictures that were emailed. They were shown in Photos.
Photos is showing pictures on start up screen as slide show but apparently is not accepting additional ones.
Can not run system file checker in win10 using admin command prompt. Get the following notification: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."
View 4 RepliesI have windows 8.1 pro currently and run a dual drive system on my computer consisting of an ssd for the OS and an hdd for everything else. I have transferred the default documents, photos, download folder etc to my hdd and am still looking to do the same with the appdata folder but dont want to risk everything up so its not happening. I also want to get windows 10 and have already reserved a copy. I want to know:
1. Will it mess up my file config as i must disconnect the hdd for OS install?
2. Is the upgrade worth the hassle?
3. Will it put computer performance in the sewer?
4. Will it screw up everything?
The last few days I've been changing and customizing some of my start menu icons in Windows 10, largely because some of the program icons clash with the Windows Store app tiles and I wanted the start menu to look appealing.
I ran a system file check via Powershell with administrator privileges and I had zero issues. Then, I changed the icon of Windows Defender via Start > All Apps > Windows System > Windows Defender > right click > more > open file location and changing the icon of the Windows Defender shortcut in the destination folder.
Then, I ran system file check again and now it continually fails and cannot fix the corrupted files. I've since changed the icon back but the issue persists.
How to take the system tab off the ribbon in File Explorer?
View 1 RepliesIn the opposite way of how the system handles me trying to delete an EXE file, now the system just goes ahead and deletes without the standard idiot box asking me if I am sure I want to delete the file. This is quite dangerous as the Delete menu item on the context menu can sometimes be actuated accidentally, without me even knowing about it!
View 3 RepliesThis is the first BSOD after I installed Windows 10 a few days ago. I suspended the system (closed the laptop), and when I opened it nothing weird happened. But, after a few minutes, I got the BSOD.
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000c2 (0x0000000000000007, 0x0000000000001254, 0x0000000000000000, 0xffffc0002b3a2010.

View 2 RepliesI installed Win10 when the upgrade became available...all seemed well until recently. I am using Office 2007 and when i try to save documents, ie; excel or word, i am told i am unable to save to the document folders or previous .xls folders that i had created. The system will let me save the file to the desktop...then i have to drag and drop into the designated folders...with a prompt telling me that i need admin privileges. What gives with this?
View 9 RepliesHave used Windows 10 for awhile now with no problems. Yesterday, on 18 Sep I updated I Tunes. I don't know if that is linked to the problems that followed since it had been more than 24 hours since I used the PC. I tried to play Day of Defeat and it worked for awhile, but then froze up. Could not control-alt-delete and had to power down, then power back up. PC said Windows did not load correctly and do you want to try again. I said yes and Windows came up OK. Tried to play Day of Defeat again to see if the problem still existed and the game was all herky jerky and not playing correctly, but I was able to close it.
Checked around on the internet. Ran System File Checker. Came up with "could not fix corrupted file taskhostw.exe, source file in store also corrupted." Got same response to bthenum.sys. But, the last line of the SFC details said, "Verify and Repair Transaction completed. All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired." So, were they fixed or not fixed? I tried to go to restore to go back to an earlier restore point, but then I got system protection error 0X8000FFFF, with most buttons grayed out. In services, microsoft software shadow copy is running on manual, task scheduler is running on auto, and volume shadow copy is running on manual. I have tried the first and last on auto, but still cant access all system restore capabilities or the scheduler to schedule restore points. I did have three restore points listed and have tried the two oldest with no improvement.
I have tried disc check and disc cleanup with no changes noted.
I have a USB recovery thumb drive and partitions on the hard drive. If used, I guess that will cause me to lose all my loaded programs, same if I "reset" the computer.
In August I added Malwarebytes to run a scan as things were acting oddly then. I guess it was Malwarebytes anti-exploit because now I can’t uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. I get, "File “C:Program files (x86)Malwarebytes Anti-Exploitunins000.dat” does not exist. Cannot uninstall." I added malwarebytes anti malware as part of my recent efforts, but only found some PUP files. Windows defender found no viruses.
How do I get my PC to begin working properly again? Do I have to go the reset/recovery route and then rebuild everything?? Or is there a better, less terrible option?
How do I get system restore to work properly?
How do I get Day of Defeat to work properly?
