View 1 RepliesThis is weird. I rebooted and the windows logo showed up but then it went to a flashing black and white screen. I rebooted a few times and the same thing.
Then I tried F8 while booting (thinking that would get me to safe mode) and it booted fine. BUT, it didn't look like it went to safe mode (not sure if it is obvious in Win10 since I haven't booted to safe mode yet). I rebooted a few more times and all OK.
Recently I've started to encounter an error when booting my computer, occasionally it would boot to a weird flashing white and black screen. An example of this can be seen here: [URL]....
This occurs just before the login screen. While this happens, my cursor is still visible, though larger than normal. After a while, the flashing stops and the screen stays black, usually before this I would force restart my PC then it would boot fine.
General specs:
GPU: Asus gtx 980 strix
CPU: i5 4690k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Gaming 7
Ram: G.Skill Trident 2x8gb
PSU: Thermaltake Gold 650watt
I built a computer a few months ago using:
A Gigabyte Z97X Gaming G1 Motherboard
An Intel i7 4790K CPU
16 GB DDR4 Patriot Memory sticks
Samsung EVO 240GB SSD
Nvidia 256 GB Graphics card
Corsair CX750 Power supply
I immediately bought Windows 10 for it, and for the most part the computer worked fine the last few months. Every once in a while I would get a "Driver Stopped Working but has Recovered" that messed up the Windows control bar and required a restart to fix, but that stopped happening eventually with updates. I still got BSoD's from time to time, including "faulty hardware corrupted page."
Today I got a BSoD when I was logging in called "DPC Watchdog Violation," which I had seen before I think so I figured it would just restart and be fine. However, now I cannot restart the computer, because after the Gigabyte motherboard logo, all I get is a blue screen that flashes on and off quickly. It is just a blue screen, sometimes with a dot in the middle. No matter what I cannot get past this infinite flashing screen, even in safe mode. Commands from the keyboard do nothing once I reach this screen although I can the mouse around. I can enter the special Windows control menu before getting to the flashing blue screen, but nothing has worked from there
Things I've tried:
-Disabling restart after BSoD -- no effect
-Restoring system image -- error, then no effect
-Resetting Windows -- no effect (although I've lost all my applications now)
-Removing my graphics card and plugging my monitor directly into the motherboard -- no effect
-Updating BIOS -- no effect
Currently trying to figure out something I can do in the registry. My last option is completely redownloading Windows 10 without saving files, but I'm not confident that will work given everything else I've tried.
I have some strange square every time I start Windows 10, which will be gone when I click on it. Something is run in the background. I see nothing when Windows is just loading. When ESET anti-virus loads, it's still okay. And then somewhere during that and the last few startup programs, it suddenly gets there. It won't get away, unless I click on it one or several times. It's reloading every time I restart Windows 10.
How can I manage step by step what is loaded during startup, so that I can see what the problem is. I think it was the patch for that "show me the desktop" button on the far right of the taskbar that did it. But I deinstalled that, so..
I upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 without a hitch an hour ago and kept all of my personal files and apps. I set up my start menu and everything was working fine, but I wanted to change the image on the logon screen (or whatever you call the screen in between the lock screen and the screen where you enter your PIN/info). So I took a risk and downloaded the 3rd party app here:
[URL] and uploaded an image and hit apply. Of course right after doing that I went to lock my PC to see if it worked, and as you can tell... it didn't.
I've tried rebooting and it hasn't worked. It's just very rapidly flashing between a blue screen w/ a loading circle and my lock screen image.
I'll put it out there that i noticed this before and after the fall update... It's just really starting to irk me now, even though it may not be a major issue.
Device: SP4
When multi tasking in tablet mode, if i swipe out from the left to bring up task view, and select another app, there is a white screen for a brief period (maybe like half a second) before the app launches.. This happens with all apps I've tried, even edge and the settings app. If i have the keyboard attached in tablet mode and use windows key + tab to bring up task view, the same things happens.
However, if I use alt + tab to scroll through the open apps in tablet mode, it does not happen.
So it seems to be something with task view.
Multiple times today my PC has displayed an all white screen but the mouse cursor is visible. The first time I noticed this was after an idle period (more than an hour) I rebooted the PC but the white screen returned, I rebooted again and it was gone but the PC took longer than normal to load windows. The PC then ran for several hours in a "normal" state (I didn't notice any issues but I'm a novice) however after an idle period (more than 30 minutes) the white screen returned. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete brought the desktop back up (I did not attempt this the first time) and the computer once again appears to be running fine.
I ran my Norton antivirus and Malwarebytes full scans in regular mode and the MBAM scan displayed several PUPs from "mindspark" which have been removed.
I have win 10 pro installed on my dell e6410. When I start my laptop I see very bright blank white splash screen for 2 seconds during the boot process. The sequence is as folows:
1- I press start button and it powers up
2- Windows 10 logo screen appears
3- Very bright white splash screen appears for 2 seconds(This is not normal as i don't see it on work computer which also have windows 10 pro )
4- Then Windows 10 login screen appears and then everything normal.
How to get rid of appearance of this very bright white splash screen which appears during boot process as it is very annoying when you work in dark environment.
I cannot explain exactly the problem so i made a video.. here : [URL] .... I tried disabling the 2 services from msconfig..but no luck..
View 3 RepliesMy PC has been acting up for about a week now. I have 2 Samsung 24inch Monitors and a decent gaming PC. I have tried all the options this forums has brought to me such as control alt delete and recovery mode, nothing has worked so far. I have just upgraded from 7-10 and it just wont start up without booting to that black screen.
View 2 RepliesI installed Windows 10 on my HP 15044NR laptop (2013) model that came originally with Windows 8.1. I get the image at the bottom of the screen whenever it has to be restarted. I have a 32 bit PC. I can only use it if I reinstall Windows 10.
View 14 RepliesRed, blue and white stripes on start screen.I noticed that more or less 1 month ago and my computer can run normally but as I will finish to pay my PC this month and I don't know how to explain what is going on to my PC to look for my support (japanese), I'm trying to understand first and see if I can solve it by myself. The video was uploaded on you tube.

View 1 RepliesSo i don't know what happened to my computer last night (Maybe it did an automatic update) I did a normal shutdown, and in the morning after I couldn't boot my Windows 10. It won't go pass the black screen with the blinking dash. I don't want to do a fresh install. I got all my important files in this computer.
View 1 RepliesI installed windows 10 on my machine last week which went fine with no errors. Since then, I have come into work everyday and found the computer idling at the login screen, flashing and not responding. Just a constant flashing until I turn it off. Because of this I've had to reset windows under the troubleshoot option on start up. Safe mode doesn't work, and back up restore doesn't either. I wanted to add that I don't receive an error code or message.
View 4 RepliesA friend upgraded their computer (HP Compaq 6710q) to Windows 10 recently. It boots up ok, but after about a minute the screen starts flashing periodically. Nothing can be done or executed on the computer.
View 3 RepliesAfter starting install of windows 10 screen is now flashing, can not do anything!
View 2 RepliesI had windows 7 n downloaded 10, everything went good until I logged in n the screen started flashing can't click on anything..
View 1 RepliesProblem with the logon screen with windows 10. I upgraded on the morning of Saturday 8th August, without any serious problems. However, later on in the afternoon, I had to do a restart, after a virus/malware scan and removal of infections. The OS was updated at this point, after which a serious problem occurred. Once the OS reached the logon screen, it started flashing on and off between Logon screen and time/date start up picture, with the cursor showing busy. It also reported an error message to do with LogonUI .
I had no way to Logon, or to open task manager, so i had to boot into safe mode, and attempt various problem solving solutions read elsewhere for this issue on the net. None of these worked, so i had to roll back to Windows 7 for the time being. Should i upgrade again, this issue will have to be resolved.
Finally, though, i'm led to believe that LogonUI is malware, and not an important system file, but should it be removed, would this be the cause of the issue?
Flashing screen on new Windows 10 install. I figured out how to return to Windows 8.1. It's restoring on my notebook as I typing this question on my Desktop. I Googled 'flashing screen' and it seems to be a common occurrence.
View 2 RepliesToday when I started my computer I logged in and after than I get a black screen with my cursor and desk bar flickering and can't do anything. When I press ctrl all delete and go to task manager it says nothing is running. I can't click anywhere or do anything except start up the task manager..
View 1 RepliesI tried upgrading last august from windows 7 and encountered the dreaded flashing screen. it was not all that easy to revert to windows 7 with a minimally unresponsive computer but i managed to do it. Question - Has this issue been resolved and will I encounter the same problem again if I try the upgrade again? Windows 7 is working fine on my desktop HP and I really don't want to deal with the hassle again.
View 2 RepliesMy computer has always been fine, until one day i was getting pop ups and redirected randomly, i notice a strange file called "techsmart computer" and was trying to delete it but couldn't so i wanted to go into safe mode and forcibly remove it, i open the start up menu simply check safe mode only and restarted, ever since all i see is the black screen with it loading with nothing else no repair, error message just it loading then it goes to the login screen the blue one and for some strange reason it is flickering as it its turning on/off and its a never ending load! if i press the power button its shutting down and it stops flickering, i searched online for solutions and nothing relevant and of the possible solutions i cant do because i can never get into the login screen, this is not a instillation issue or driver or graphics card, etc... started ever since i checked the safe mode, i want to mention i'm writing this using a different computer, also don't know if its a 32 or 64 bit.
