Gaming :: PC Completely Crashes On Every Game Build 10041
Mar 20, 2015
Whenever I try to run any game on my PC after 1 minute, everything freezes and I have to reboot. I've tried rolling back my graphics drivers but that didn't work either.
Since installing the Technical Preview update yesterday, IE crashes or hangs on about half the websites I visit (including this one), but not 100% of the time.
Haven't been able to tell if there is specific content within pages that crash that could be causing it, but apparently I will have to use Firefox until the next update that should include Spartan.
So, I've been checking for updates pretty frequently for the past couple days, and build 10041 has never shown. I've gotten some sound driver updates, some Windows Defender updates, and a Dictionary update that refuses to install and has refused to install since I ran 8.1, but 10041 doesn't show up. I tried downloading the iso from mega but idk if it was a 32 bit image because it failed to mount.
I'm on a Surface Pro 2 running build 9926 of Windows 10.
SP3 running 10 preview build 10041 and I'm getting terrible clicking, skipping, buzzing, etc on everything from youtube videos, local videos played in VLC, soundcloud streaming music, etc
Had these problems on 9926 and prayed it would be resolved but nope. I've read a bunch of "update your drivers" posts but they NEVER have the correct version. Also experiencing the 1/27 hardware update install loop.
No matter what, I seem unable to change the default app with which a certain file type is opened. The moment I change the app, the "Always use this app" is disabled so I can't check it.
I plan on buying a new computer and want to transfer my Windows 10 App Game Statistics for Hearts and Chess to my new computer. Where does Windows 10 store these game statistics so I can save the folder.
after installing windows 10 (clean install) my laptop completely freezes, so far happend only while playing games. This is possibly related to nvidia gpu, because basicaly nothing else uses it. I dont get any error or bsod and nothing in the event log, it just hangs with the "bzzz" sound and i have to restart.
Games a tried playing are heroes of the storm and rocket league, got freezes playing both. Time it takes to freeze is random sometimes 10minutes and sometimes 3 hours.
I have two hidden object games that has a screen that is to large and some of the objects are out of site on the sides. I tried setting the resolution smaller, but that just made the screen smaller and objects are still hidden. When I remove the check mark from full screen, the screen is to small to find the hidden objects. The game worked fine on my 19" monitor, but not this larger one.
Using W10 and I am really impressed with it so far. The issue I am having is that I have tried using my normal recording software which is Xsplit but it wont record, neither will Fraps,
can i enable any kind of alert (like fraps has red dot in a corner... or whatever) when i am recording game? I am recording a lot, and i sometimes forget if i am recording right now, i dont know if my next win+alt+r will start or stop recording, dont know if i pushed the right keybind, or not...
Testing the xbox game DVR records great but for some reason does not record sound. Also will not work if a game is in full screen mode only works in windowed mode.
I have a 240GB SSD so I like to be careful about space allocated to my games. With Steam games it is easy to just copy the game folder to an external HD when I'm not playing it then moved it back when I fancy playing it.
However, I purchased Rise of the Tomb Raider from the Windows Store and that option doesn't seem doable - the game installed itself into a folder inside C:/Program Files/WindowsApps which isn't viewable unless I taken ownership (I already messed up all my metro apps doing this but fortunately I had a recent disk image to recover from it).
Any way to either change the location of the game installation or an easy way to backup and restore the game files?
Recently upgraded a friends computer to windows 10 and we're running into an annoying issue while playing a low resolution (800x600?) game. The game boots up fine and everything is great until we pause and come out of sleep mode when the whole image on the screen is compressed to half the screen with inverted colors (this same thing happens when the windows key is hit to go back to the desktop and try to go back to the game). The image isnt frozen, you can hear the sounds and see things lighting up. The actions are working on the whole screen but the image is compressed to the left half of the screen. So it seems to me that there's some software issue involving the graphics card since the computer is having issues switching between resolutions?
I guess its best to start with the fact i have a triple monitor set up all running off a nvidia 970 video card. 2 24 inch monites left/right and a 32 in monitor in the center. When ever i try to play battlefield 1942, the older sim city, red alert 2/yuri's revenge etc since upgrading to windows 10. the game seems like its playing in fullscreen. But as soon as i go to the left or right edge of the screen my curser comes out of game, and i select what ever the mouse is over dropping me from game. i just played starwars battle front beta for the last 3 hours so i know its not an issue with game launched from origin, and probably related to win10 and older games.
Recently I've been on Windows 10 Pro x64 bit, I did a clean install after the free upgrade and loving 10 so far..
I've been playing tons of my regular games.. Battlefield 4, ArmA 3/ ArmA 2 DayZ Mod ( OverPoch ) , Insurgency, etc.. mostly FPS and survival games.. lately in ArmA 2 I've been getting this lag/freezing and the audio will be like robotic till the freeze stops and the game runs like normal again..
this happens throughout play sessions in ArmA 2 DayZ mod and has happened like once or twice in Battlefield 4 but hasn't really happened again in awhile.. I'm trying to see if there is a fix to this or if it's just an ArmA issue or Windows 10 and ArmA compatibility issue..
My Specs: Windows 10 Pro x64 bit - Clean install MSI GTX 970 4gb OC i7 4770k 3.50GHz MSI B85-G41 PC Mate(MS-7850) 111GB ADATA SSD S510 120GB (SSD) - for My OS 465GB Western Digital WDC WD5000AAKS-00UU3A0 (SATA) - Programs 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA) - Games 16gb DDR3 ram 1000w PSU
I have updated my onboard sound drivers ( Realtek) to the very latest along with my chipset..
I have been encountering random game crashes and different BSOD messages for the past month at a high rate. This mainly happens when playing 'Smite' but happens frequently with other games and sometimes when browsing on Chrome. DARKYODK-28_10_2015_122301_55.zip
Just got a new build and keep getting crashes while gaming on certain games. I've monitored temps and haven't been any where near thresholds. I stress tested the PC using Prime95 and other benchmarks. A screen print of the minidump analysis is included.
People app crashes on RTM build, it opens waits at the splash screen and terminates itself. I tried the previous method, changing the contacts.txt file at AppData, but that file is missing.
As of lately, my computer will crash randomly while playing mostly graphically intensive games. I can do normal things on my PC all day long and play low end games with pretty much no problem. As soon as I play GTA 5, BF4, or something of that graphic capability the application will crash. Sometimes within a few minutes, but mostly within a 15-30 min period.
Quite frequently, the Runescape Client (queue jokes) window will randomly close too. I kind of feel like this is the same issue going on. However, with this being much less graphically intense, it happens less frequently or takes longer for a crash to occur.
99% of the time I get the same 0xC0000005 error (means the program has attempted to access memory that it shouldn't. ), on rare occasions it will BSOD with a 1A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error or a 4E PFN_LIST_CORRUPT.
This has become extremely annoying and I don't quite know where to pinpoint the problem, and all of these seem to be memory related issues. Due to the fact that it mostly happens with graphically intense games, I want to point my finger at my video card.
I thought about stress testing my video card to see if it will crash again. I don't really know how to strictly test the memory of a video card, but that was my best guess. Below are the troubleshooting tips I have tried, as well as links to pictures from Event Viewer, Bluescreenview, and debug reports from WinDBG for the 1A and 4E errors are attached.
Troubleshooting steps I have done are:
Tried reverting back to the last "most stable" driver for my GPU (Clean Install)Updated video drivers to the latest version (Clean install)Checked my SSD for errors using software from the vendor (Don't believe this is an issue because two games are on different disks, and the same thing happens)Checked my RAM with memtest86 for 24 hours (Did this twice now)Scanned for malware, no threats foundUsed CCleaner to clean crap off of my computerEnsured Windows was fully up-to-date with the latest critical and optional patches.
Just installed this build on another partition. The OS looks beautiful but it keeps on freezing, randomly. sometimes at the start up or sometimes when the cpu usage increases. The cursor doesn't move, cant even shutdown properly. I've updated my nvidia driver and everything, the problem is still there. Nothing's wrong here on 8.1.
I am getting this error message along with the driver crash after 1-2 months after upgrading to WIN10 from WIN8.1. It happens quite often few weeks ago it stopped now it started happening again. In event viewer there's a Dislpay Warning: Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Event ID: 4101. Another thing I want to point out is that it says Windows 8(R) when my OS is running Windows 10? Why is that?
My Graphic driver is up to date. I tried uninstalling it then installing it back again but still happens. I also used DDU. So far contacted Microsoft Intel HP no solutions. Apparently INTEL are trying to fix this issue when already 2 new updates came out for the IRIS production driver and guess what didn't solve the issue. I put the TDR-Delay registry key still no luck.
