View 1 RepliesI have been an Insider since the beginning and have received all the updates during the past few months. I'm currently stuck in build 10166 and Windows Update informs me that my device is current. Checking for updates yields nothing new except that Defender is updated daily, sometimes more than once. On the next page I see a "Fix Me" button, but when I click on that up comes a dialog asking if I want to discontinue future builds.
I ran the update troubleshooter, which reports: "Problems found: Service registration is missing or corrupt. Not fixed". I don't know if this is the cause of my problem, nor do I know how to repair the service registration. I suspect this will impair my upgrade to the final Windows 10 build on Wednesday.
So I recently returned from holiday and saw that my PC hadnt updated from build 10130 to build 10240.
It is stuc at 1% downloading, have left it for a few days, but no luck.
Just done a clean install of Windows 10 build 10240 with UK regional settings and Cortana won't enable.
Just says Cortana is not support in my region and language and won't let me enable.
People app crashes on RTM build, it opens waits at the splash screen and terminates itself. I tried the previous method, changing the contacts.txt file at AppData, but that file is missing.
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to use custom themes on my laptop for the past 2 months, but none of them work fully, and just end up changing the desktop wallpaper, cursor and some colours on the windows, etc.
example of the theme I'm currently trying (what it's supposed to look like):

(ignore the start button, it's from classic shell :x)
I've tried lots of tools like UxStyle, UltraUXThemePatcher, programs to replace explorerframe.dll, etc. but none of them work.
I've had this problem even back when I was still using windows 8.1
Win 8.1 theme (what it's supposed to look like):

Day before yesterday I had downloaded Windows 10 iso using "media creation tool" mine is a 64bit OS & yesterday upgraded my windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After completion of installation Windows 10 got activated & I was very happy with Windows 10 & decided to delete the "Windows.old" folder by using "Disk cleanup" tool everything went fine & started installing my much needed softwares & drivers.
VGA drivers include "Intel graphics driver & NVidia GeFroce 820M graphics driver" & installed "Wamp Server" along with that I had also installed this "vcredist_x64" because it needed one dll file I forgot its name & after that I had downloaded & installed latest version of free BitDefender antivirus, after its installation screen went blank & came back since then Start Menu & other things such as notifications, sound control are not opening. I don't know what all happened in background. Start menu is not working :-( I'm beginning to think that Microsoft has released an half baked OS to general public.
I have Win 10 preview build 10240 and up to date.I want to continue as windows insider, but I want to update to the final version, So if I wanted to remain as an insider, should I upgrade to the final version and connect it with my insider account or stay with my current build 10240....
View 1 RepliesI have tried everything that I know to correct this issue! But the fact of the matter is I can't fix this without having an idstore.sst file that supports the HomeGroup features and services it cannot be restored to it's proper configurations.
So how to turn-on HomeGroup without having the idstore.sst file in C:WindowsService ProfilesLocal ServiceAppDataRoamingPeer Networking folder????
Will Win. 10 not have the idstore file in it or what do I do to correct this??? It is the idstore.sst file that when deleted and re-starting of the system that enables it to renew the idstore.sst file and re-stores connectivity and enabling to the p2p.svc, PRNP.svc, and the Peer Networking Grouping.svc that allows Home Group to run properly. At this point I cannot enable these services without the idstore.sst file.
I tried updating to the latest build but when my computer restarts and turns back on, it gave me this error.

I've got a Nokia Lumia 530 and it was running happily on Win10. With the new build out you had to firstly roll back to 8.1 Update 1, then install Windows Insider and update.Unfortunately I don't seem to have enough drive space to do the update. It needs 1.35 gig and although Storage Sense says 1.39 gig available, it won't progress due to insufficient space. Must be some temp files or something.I've moved every app I can over to the SD card but to no avail.
View 2 RepliesSince the start of the program that i've been an insider, but after updating to the RTM build I'm unable to see new builds in Windows Update.
I was in the Fast Ring and updates were no where to found. I left the program, made me an insider again and still not receiving updates. What should be the problem?
So, I've been checking for updates pretty frequently for the past couple days, and build 10041 has never shown. I've gotten some sound driver updates, some Windows Defender updates, and a Dictionary update that refuses to install and has refused to install since I ran 8.1, but 10041 doesn't show up. I tried downloading the iso from mega but idk if it was a 32 bit image because it failed to mount.
I'm on a Surface Pro 2 running build 9926 of Windows 10.
i'm new to technical previews (well i had the windows 8 tp but i was a kid who didnt know what day it was) and i want to know if windows 10 automatically updates whenever a new build is available or if i have to reinstall windows
View 1 RepliesI have just built a new PC around a MSI gaming 7 motherboard and an i5 Skylake processor, running windows 10.
Everything is running great but I have the following errors in device manager:
Trusted Platform Module 2.0 is not working properly - drivers are up to date.
Corsair Hydro series 7289 USB device - drivers up to date .
I tried updating normally using Windows Update. It fails in less than 10 seconds.
I tried using Media Creation Tool. It downloads the update, but at the end it fails again and tell me restart my PC and try again.
I tried deleting the files at C:/Windows/SoftawareDistribution/Download and then going back to Windows Update. It didn't work.
this Build is crashing and freezing in almost any game that I play or application that I use. I'm only able to use Chrome and Office properly. Everything else usually freezes and crash.
I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop. Both desktop update fine to build 10586 but the laptop keep saying up to date after check. Even try Lan connection still no go for laptop to update. How to force laptop to update? All running Windows 10 Pro.
View 7 RepliesI have been successfully updating as a Insider Win 10 since Oct 2014 with no problems. I recently did a clean install of build 11102 and it seems ok. A few slow downs and hangs but generally ok. Recently I received notification from MS that build 14257 was available for download. I downloaded the file as always and it went through the usual prep and getting ready etc. When it rebooted to start the install I get a screen asking me to "Choose your Keyboard L/O" I choose United States and then it reverts back to "Choose an Option" I choose "continue & Exit to Win 10" and it boots back into my build 11102. I've tried this three or four times with the same result. I have downloaded and run the MS Fit-It for upgrades to no avail. I have tried using a Local account, still does the same thing. I created an ISO TechNet and it does the same thing when trying to do a clean install. I have run DISM and SFC /scannow
View 9 RepliesAfter i installed build 11099 i get the message "Your Microsoft account need attention to get insider preview builds" when i click the "Fix Me" button i get error 0x80070005
View 1 RepliesI've tried twice now to update to build 10158 and each time it throws a blue screen with an error of:
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device
Error Code: 0xc0000017
Since the build is brand new obviously there are no threads or solutions to this problem. Why this particular build would give me this error? I have never had this problem with any previous builds.
I have build a new gaming rig and installed Windows 10 pro but I have been getting bsod's and cannot figure out what is going on. I had it overclocked but since removed the overclock to trouble shoot the bsod. I have also run memtestx86 for 9 passes and no errors there. So I am reaching out for solving the bsod the particular bsod that is coming up is System_Service_Exception.
View 3 RepliesFor a few weeks I'm already stuck in Build 10166 of the Windows Insider program, Microsoft said that insiders would receive the launch version before public but I still haven't received an update to the final version yet. However non insiders already have the final version. I'm refreshing the Windows Update every half an hour and it only gives me Windows Defender updates every now and then.
View 9 RepliesI have a Windows 7 computer that's a few years old and I got the Windows 10 notification that I can install it so I did, now seems like every time Windows 10 gets a update it freezes my PC.. any recommendations how I can fix this easily?
View 6 RepliesI would like to update the time once a day by way of the Task Scheduler. Is there a command to do this?

View 1 RepliesSo, recently (after the November build release) I woke the next morning to find that my computer underwent a rather major update. After which, it seemed, my home network was thrown out of wack. I immediately rolled/reverted/recovered to previous build. But now everything is out of wack. Most of the time I have to restart my computer just so it'll communicate with my printer to start printing.
And restarting the computer is twice as long if it restarts at all. Most of the time It gets stuck in the "restart" progress animates (the rotating circles) and I have to press the restart button on the computer tower, with great regret and dread. Transferring files from one windows 10 device to another is a 50/50 hit or miss. I'm not literate when it comes to networking and was super happy how everything was.
But now, not only is my wifi home network out of wack, but my computer itself is wonky. I figure I might as well reinstall the newest build in hopes that it'll at least fix a fe of the problems. But anytime I check for updates, the newest build no longer shows up.
