Getting Message On Surface - Make PC More Secure To Connect To This Server
Jul 10, 2015
I keep getting this message on my Surface. It says that I must make my PC more secure to connect to this server. As a result (amongst other things) I can't get e-mail from my work. I don't get the message on my desktop pc with the same build. How to get my Surface to enforce the correct security policies?

I installed Oracle's virtualbox on a windows 10 machine. I'd like to download software to it like adobe reader. I can't. I can start up internet explorer and connect to the web and if I click on links it goes to those links. If I try to go to google.com I get a message that it can't make a secure connection. I tried downloading adobe acrobat in windows 10 and transferring it with a shared folder to the virtual machine. I was able to transfer to the virtual machine but when I tried running it, it tried to connect to the web and could not. This looks to me like a security problem because the browser can connect to some sites in the virtual machine and only complained when they were secure sites. Is there some security setting in windows 10 that could be blocking virtualbox from connecting to secure sites?

My son upgraded to Win 10 and was very pleased with the result - all seemed ok. After about 24 hours he was unable to access secure (HTTPS) websites e.g facebook & twitter. Got a timeout and SSL message.
Other sites seemed to work ok.
Tried rebooting, clearing DNS with ipconfig, switch off firewall, add facebook to firewall whitelist , reboot router etc. no joy.
Sites and accounts worked ok from another computer on the same network.
Youtube sometimes worked - sometimes timed out.
Suspect it was something to do with certificates but gave up after half an hour - too complicated.
Gave up and now back on Win 7 (surprised how quick and easy this was).
May try again later.

At my college we login to our accounts at the school using our email address and passwords. The domain suffix on the email points to which server we are logging into. So typing "*@domainhere.com" will login to the server paired with "domainhere.com". Windows 10 prompts you at login to provide this email and password. When you login, there are 2 drives mounted, one local and one which is on the server so you can login on any computer and have your files accessible, somewhat like a VPN or FTP storage server.
I run a small team of look developers and have a series of render an storage servers. I am interested in setting something like this up but my knowledge of systems management is limited to what I need as a look developer. This is a system often implemented into pipeline systems and version control systems in look development.

I am wondering about this situation which seems to have occurred with Win 10
The internet connection using Internet Explorer seems to take for ever to make it trough to the server, using Comcast Xfinity
latest speed check : Ping 18ms, Download 21Mbps, Upload 12Mbps
The internet connection using the Win 10 " e " from the task bar seems to make it through without any problems
Comcast claims there is nothing amiss with their Xfinity setup.

I have 2 machines connected via a switch. They both have shared folders. They both run a piece of software. One machine acts as a master the other connects to it for data.
The issue is that the "Server" service is randomly stopping on the master and none of the shares work. The software on the second machine is crashing because it can't see the shares on the master. Windows explorer can't see the shares either.
Once this service has been started the software works fine. I have set the service recovery to restart on all failures but this hasn't resolved the issue. Why this stops or how to rectify the problem?

I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 and have been encountering problems since then. When I try to access any website using my mobile's hotspot all the browsers except firefox show the same message that is "Can’t connect to the proxy server".
So I went into proxy setting and saw that whole area was grayed out and at the top was a message saying "Some setting are managed by your organisation ". The first option in proxy settings is "Automatically detect setting" and it was turned on but because it was grayed out, I couldn't change it.Then I typed internet options in the search bar and clicked on it and a dialogue box appeared and in it I click connections tab and right at the bottom was a message saying "Some settings are managed by your system administrator.
I went into LAN settings and there too everything was grayed out and the automatically detect settings box was checked here too. This problem is not confined only to browsers but my in my Steam account I cannot update my games and also when I try to access news from the steam client it gives and error code.I did a bit of research about that code and found that it was related to proxy.Even my windows update is not working. Every time I try to update it it just stucks at 0% for hours.

I have just bought a new windows 10 machine. It finds my home WIFI but fails to connect with the message "Can't connect to this network".
I have tried all the obvious issues such as re-booting (every component). I have several windows 7 machines and have checked the configuration of the wireless adaptors and there is nothing different around security, or 802 protocol selected etc. I have tuned off IP version 6 after reading some forums but get the same error.
My router is provided is provided by SKY is:
Manufacturer Sagemcom
Model Number F@ST2304
Firmware Version 7.16a4N
ADSL Firmware Version A2pD038m.d24h
Whenever I try to connect I get the following router system log:
Nov 7 15:09:11 (none) user.alert kernel: Intrusion -> IN=pppoa0 OUT= MAC= SRC=136.159.181.168 DST=2.125.174.9 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=50 ID=40139 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=45482 DPT=23 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 MARK=0x8000000
My first experience with Windows 10 has been extremely frustrating and wasted a lot of time. I see that this is also a very common problem. Equally frustrating is the lack of diagnostic from Windows...I appear to have no way of knowing why the connection failed (hence why I have shown the router log).

I'm not sure what all is affected by "Windows services" not connecting but since that happened, I am unable to access my Outlook email and a solitaire game won't open. I'm also trying to update Windows Defender but it won't finish updating. And, I have checked to see if an update is due and it just never stops looking for one. Little blue dots, little blue dots, little blue dots...
I have not downloaded anything from anywhere.
I never had any problems with Vista or 8.1. I'm almost ready to go back to 8.1.

I have a Microsoft account set up with a pin. Every time I boot my computer up, I am greeted with the login screen and my photo, with the message below it, "We are unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later." And it's asking for my password, not my pin. For some reason, I see my username twice on the lower left corner. One is the password log-in, the other is the pin. I can successfully log in with either. I just want to know, what is with the error message? I've got a connection, so I can't figure out why.

I'm having the "Failed to connect to a Windows service. Windows couldn't connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents standard users from signing in" message in my laptop. It was updated from Windows 8 to 10 when we purchased it. At the beginning the laptop works well but now i'm having this message. I saw the a video and the GPC status is not running and in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENT CONTROL/SERVICES/GPSVC in the Image Path is netsvcs instead gpsvdGroup.
The problem is that when i went to SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS NT/CURRENT VERSION/SVCHOST And then to the netsvcs I did'n t have to add it because it is already there, it was not missing. I verified Dword values and all of them have the same values as recommended in the video.

I have read, on the Internet, that Bitlocker can be got into, without using the password, by 'experts using encryption breaking tools.
I use a 13 part password, incorporating upper case & lower case letters, numbers and special (punctuation?) symbols.
So, just how secure is Bitlocker?

I installed Windows 10 Pro on an Intel NUC5i3RYH. In the UEFI settings I enabled Secure Boot, enabled UEFI boot and disabled Legacy Boot, yet in Windows 10 System Information it still says Secure Boot State: Off.
Is there something else I need to do to get Secure Boot working?

will one have installing Windows-10 on a machine now running Windows-7 64-bit with an older BIOS? In particular, the BIOS setup area has no references to UEFI. So, references to "disabling Secure Boot" don't make sense. (I have a DELL Vostro 1500, bought in March 2008, which is still very functional.)

I use a good password in the windows login screen, but I was wondering, how hard (or easy) is it to break past this screen.
In old versions, you could go to dos mode and then just "dir" your way around and everything was visible.

I logged to my Facebook account and before I could get to my newsfeed, I have a notification from Facebook stating that my system is compromised and I need to download F-secure before I could proceed. Now, I am fairly certain my system it virus/malware free (I have a trio of Kaspersky IS, Malwarebytes and Ccleaner keeping my system in tiptop shape).

i had secure boot up and running on my windows 8.1 machine after a clean install, but now since Microsoft upgraded me to windows 10 it seems as my secure boot is off again, but it's enabled in my bios is so weird, it's enabled in bios but off in windows 10? Is not much of a big deal to me in a since but just wondering why it still shows as on in bios but off in windows 10.

I want to always Permanently Delete (Shred) files and folders on my PC so that no one can recover those data. Now I heard for a program called Eraser which allows us to shred files/folders by clicking right click of mouse on the files/folders and then choosing Shredding (Permanently Delete).
So my question is: can I normally delete all files/folders which means that those files/folders are now in Recycle Bin. And then I just open Ccleaner and I set Secure Deletion to Very Complex Overwrite (35 passes) and I also check 3 boxes there (Wipe Alternate Data Streams, Wipe Cluster Tips and Wipe MFT Free Space) and I also check Local Disc (C) and Local Disk (D) boxes and then I just click Run Cleaner and now all the files from Recycle Bin will be Permanently Deleted (Shredded) and no one will be able to recover those files? If this is true, then I don't need Eraser to permanently delete (shred) files/folders.

I was updating my Dell Venue Pro 8 to Windows 10 Build 10547 and got a red error message that read. "Secure Boot Violation" "Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup". There is an OK button at the bottom of the message, but nothing happens when I try to click on it. I can shut the tablet off, but when I start it I get the same message. I am stuck. Where to I go from here.

I just canceled my Windows 10 download request because of "Secure Boot." I find it's very disturbing to work under its conditions of inflexibility. Without an option to select or deselect, Secure Boot is an irrational restriction on the individual.
