HDMI Cable Is Not Working On Asus Notebook After Update
Aug 30, 2015
My HDMI Cable is not working on my Asus Notebook after I did the Windows 10 update. I have tried fixing the sound and resolution on control panel, i also made sure all updates and installation of apps are up to date, however, the TV doesn't seem to recognize the cable anymore, or the computer.
Tried changing the settings on the TV as suggested on one of these forums. I must be missing something.
Per the title, I run my computer through my TV using an HDMI cable. Sound works brilliantly on Windows 8.1 but after upgrading to Windows 10, I'm left without audio, and in the sound settings it doesn't show HDMI as an available device.
I updated my windows 7 home edition few months back however, when i wanted to connect my laptop with my smart tv through an hdmi cable , no display was detected. I tried high end hdmi cables but i am unable to connect my HP envy laptop with the tv. Besides i have not installed november update to my laptop.
Windows 10 plays Mp3 Files just fine. Connect an HDMI cable to the video output port, and then windows 10 suddenly wont play those files. An error message pops us inside windows media player and Grove that this file type is not supported. Also no sound is played through the HDMI Cable to my TV, and no sound is played when i click the volume bar on the bottom right side.
I work for an integration company. We just installed a couple of conference rooms for a company in which we have an HDMI cable running from the table through the floor in the walls and to the TV. From there it breaks out into the Amplifier and plays audio in the room. Normally i bring my Mac book pro for testing but i purchased this Windows 10 computer as a test device. I did not have a second laptop with me to test this out.
However, With the computer and the HDMI cable i am getting video to the TV. When i enter my TV menu and arrow around the menu option my sound works on the built in speakers in the room. So i can confirm that the cabling is all correct. This is the identical setup that we always use. I have also plugged my Iphone into the cabling behind the TV and played music which worked perfectly fine.
The computer, as i mentioned, would play MP3 files perfectly fine, untill i plugged in the HDMI cable. Infact i can be playing and MP3 file and then plug in the hdmi cable and suddenly the computer stops playing the MP3 file and gives me the error that windows can not support this file type. Those same MP3's play on an SDCard in the TV when i access them directly from the tv. So those files are not bad. Also anything with audio fails to play anywhere (tv or locally on the laptop) when the HDMI is plugged in.
Also i have gone to the control panel and selected the Audio section and looked at the video card / audio output selections. When i have no HDMI cable selected the option for audio output changes to the internal sound card. (which is correct) and then i plug in the HDMI Cable and the audio switches to the HDMI output (which is correct)
the only two conclusions i can come up with are this particular computer has a bad video card. or windows 10 is not supporting audio output. I have never tested our setups with windows 10 before.
Last bit i'll include this is a brand new computer. Core i5 8Gb ram 1tb hard drive. its a toshiba.
I have a laptop. Acer e5-571g to be precise. So, i had a problem with an hdmi cable to tv - had no sound. Did a bit of research, tried some things out, nothing. Unplugged the cable and my screen icons went large, screen is blurry now. Drivers, i think, are up to date. Screen resolution is not the problem, icons are set to small. Restarted the computer too. Oh, and i have windows 10.
Whenever I connect my laptop to the TV via hdmi cable my desktop icons are moved and auto aligned in vertical columns down the left hand side of the page (my desktop). I have to drag them back to where I want each time. It's a fairly minor nuisance, but is there any way to avoid this, I've searched but can't find a definitive answer.
(I've tried, right clicking and unchecking 'align icons to grid' but that doesn't make any difference, it still always happens).
I just upgraded my htpc computer from win7 to win10 this morning. I have an Asus P7H55 motherboard with onboard Intel HD graphics H55 series. things were not perfect to start with.
Situation before the upgrade: - if I was watching a moving in full screen on Netflix and went away forgetting to come back to the main web page, 9/10 when I would come back to the PC, the TV would somehow have forgotten it was connected and flash as it had lost its signal. I had to hard-reboot the computer, then the problem was fixed until next time. I never was able to figure out why it did that - overheating? incompatibility when going to idle / screensaver if in full screen? was it specific to the TV? I just went with it.
Situation after the upgrade: Now, the TV just won't display the computer, period. I know something changed during the install of win10 - as the TV screen suddenly went dark then an error message "incompatible" started showing at the bottom of the screen.
What I tried so far: - I went on Asus' website to try to download windows 10 drivers. Somehow they seem to have forgotten putting them on their website. The 8.1 ones dont work either. - I tried downloading stuff from Intel (they provide the chipset and graph card) but so far haven't had much success
What I'd like to avoid: - in some research, I found that some people had to connect using VGA instead of HDMI to fix this problem with their Sony Bravia TV. I'm not thrilled with this idea as the resolution and quality would degrade compared to HDMI. - if at all possible I'd also like to avoid having to purchase a brand new graph card for this computer.
I have a Lenovo G580 Notebook with Windows 10 installed. The issue is that the Windows hotkeys, that is Windows key and other letter combinations, aren't working. For example, normally, if I press Windows key + I, then the Settings app should open up or if I press Windows key + R, then Run should open up. But the Start screen opens up instead in all such cases.
This is happening since I have updated the Synaptics touchpad driver via Windows Update. If I uninstall the driver, then the hotkeys start working again. But as soon as I install the driver, they stop working. This was not happening with Windows 10 before, even when the Synaptics driver was installed. It has suddenly started happening couple of months ago. Also I cannot completely uninstall the Synaptics driver because my laptop came with it itself nor can I stop the driver from updating as it is an important driver and it needs to be updated to be compatible with Windows 10.
The other day I was connected to the internet via Ethernet cable I bought around 3 weeks ago and it was working well with no problems, but for the past two days when I plug in my ethernet cable, my laptop doesn't detect it and it says "Network cable unplugged".
My HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC has recently had some issues, so I had to reset it to factory settings (Windows 7) and then upgraded again to windows 10. Now my fingerprint reader is not working, I do not have windows hello on my laptop at all, and I can't even find it as biometric devices in my device manager. can I do something to make it work?
I currently have an Asus Vivopc desktop that I use as an htpc and it is connected directly to my LG LB5800 tv. The PC has onboard speakers which sound terrible and when I connect the tv via HDMI, the video works fine but no sound comes from the tv.
I still get sound from the PC but no matter what I can see, there is no option whatsoever to have the TV as a playback device. It isn't listed at all. I've reinstalled the intel and realtek drivers but that didn't work. I've opened up the playback devices, shown disabled devices and it didn't show up either.
With Windows 8 it worked flawlessly. With Windows 8.1 it would only work when I rebooted the computer with the TV on, otherwise the device would disappear as soon as it was turned off. With Windows 10, it just isn't there at all.
Just unboxed my computer from CyberpowerPC, GTX 720 graphics card, installed/updated all drivers with drivereasy (paid for just now) and I am still having the issue with HDMI port not working. I have tried to plug into a monitor and a TV, neither are working, I have also tried to use multiple HDMI cables, still does not work. My monitor has an auto-switch source availability and turned on, when I plug my computer into the monitor with HDMI it continually cycles, finds no signal and goes into sleep mode. Then rinse/repeats until I either turn off the computer, monitor or just unplug the monitor from the computer. Currently I am using a DVI(computer) to HDMI (tv) and its working fine. So I know its the port on the computer. Do I need to contact CyberpowerPC to send the computer back to get this issue resolved?
I have an Asus laptop with a Nvidia 840M, and after it shut down during Limbo I realized my fan wasn't working. I could not hear it running, so I tried Speedfan. But Speedfan is unable to recognize any internal fans, and CPUID just says that the CPU fan is at 0RPM. There's nothing in the BIOS and I think my drivers are all up to date. I don't know if this is a Windows 10, driver, or hardware problem as i don't remember what my fan was like before.
Some weeks ago I upgraded my son's Zenbook. Initially it seemed to work fine. So I did a clean install. I can vaguely remember an odd miss start-up after the clean install. It seemed to work allright after that. Anyway my son skyped a couple of weeks ago to say it isn't working. Generally speaking, can I fresh install the original W7, it was home premium. I haven't a disk and wonder if there are any ISO's available at MS for download?
I just upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, I have a ASUS G75vw.
Well i guess to sum it up as soon as I updated the software my audio and video playback doesn't work anymore. For example iTunes tells me "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration, Audio/Video playback might not function" how to fix it?
The other day, I tried to do a factory reset on my laptop, but it failed, and I could only click cancel. Now, when I booted up my computer, it goes to the ASUS logo, then a black screen, still backlit, with an underscore flashing in the upper left corner of the screen. I can access the BIOS, and have been trying to do boot overrides. I don't have the ASUS Recovery partition installed on the laptop, and I don't have any possible ways to install an ISO. T
Was just setting up my new HP Pavilion x 2-10-n107a notebook/computer when I finished up locked out.No keys were responding so I clicked on :Other user: and everything worked ok until I came to switch on again and when asked for other user password and name I had not a clue.
I have a pavillion G62 notebook. I recently switched to windows 10 (64 bits). after I made the switch from windows 7 to windows 10 I couldn't duplicate my screen. in settings windows won't detect my screen. I updated the amd graphic card driver, but that didn't change anything.
I own an "HP 15-f010dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)." I recently upgraded my computer from Windows 8 to Windows 10. Ever since then when my computer goes to sleep mode I cannot turn it back on I as was able to do with Windows 8 by clicking or using the touch-pad. I know the computer is on because the light for the Internet on the keyboard is on, but it never gets out of sleep mode. I've tried changing the power settings, but to no use. The only way I can turn the computer back on is by holding the power button for about 10 seconds, shutting down the computer, then pressing it again to turn it back on. It's really annoying when all my apps get shut off and I have to open them all again because of this.
