How can I fix the sleep function for an HP laptop using Windows 10? After it goes into sleep mode, it won't wake-up. Have to cold boot to restart.
View 2 RepliesWhen I put my computer in sleep mode, it won't 'wake up'. I have to manually turn off the computer and then start it up again. This has happened twice. I'm not putting it into sleep mode until I find out what's wrong and that's exasperating as I normally leave my computer on all day so I can periodically play my games.
View 4 RepliesLaptop does not wake up from sleep when either power button, keyboard buttons or mouse touchpad are pressed. A forced reboot is always required. HDD light off, monitor stays black and battery light and fan still on.
Have had this problem for over a week since downloading and using Advanced SystemCare and Driver Booster. Once the problem occured I uninstalled them but nothing changed. Also there was a few recent windows updates at beginning of March but haven't read anywhere that they are causing similar problems. Have tried the obvious fixes but nothing seems to work.

View 1 RepliesUpon attempting to perform a fresh install of my display drivers using DDU, I somehow managed to permanently blue screen Windows 10 (Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED). So every time I try to boot into my OS, I get a constant blue screen of death, resulting in my computer to continuously restart and blue screen.
So now I'm trying to boot into safe mode from a cold boot, is there a way that I can access Advanced Options without requiring to boot into the OS itself?I'd like to create a recovery disk with a flashdrive, but I do not have an alternate computer that runs Windows 10, just a MacBook Pro

Came across my first major problem. When I try to go into sleep mode (either through the Start menu or pressing the power button), the hard drive light blinks for a second then the screen goes black. BUT... my power light stays on (should be blinking) and pressing it again, the mouse button... nor any key press on the keyboard will wake it up. I had to hard shutdown (holding the power key down for like 5 seconds) for the light go off and had to keep rebooting from scratch.
That's a major pain since waking up out of sleep mode is normally much faster and convenient. To make things worse.... it seems like 10 takes longer to boot up from scratch than 8.1 did. I've yet to see if SHUTDOWN works properly or not. Not a happy camper on the sleep mode issue. It worked under 8.1 just fine.
EDIT: Shutdown goes through a longer process, but ends the same as sleep does...... The power light stays on.
I'm using an HP Envy w/ i7-4510u CPU / 8GB RAM / 4GB Nvidia GTX 850M / 1TB drive
EDIT#2: Now SLEEP and SHUTDOWN appear to be working properly and Windows 10's boot up times are as fast or faster than 8.1 now. It's like a car and trying to clear out the lines of bad fuel before it runs right. Just some weird hiccups.
I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I cannot wake up my computer from sleep mode. With Windows 7 and 8.1 all I had to do was tap any key and the computer would wake up. Now that doesn't work. I have to press and hold down the power button to force a shut down and then restart. This problem only appeared after I installed Windows 10. How can I fix it?
View 19 RepliesI put my pc on sleep mode about everyday, but when I try to wake it up, it completely shuts off. I usually have sleep mode on overnight. I've check and messed with some of the Power Option, but they all seem normal.
View 4 RepliesI have an HP pavilion g6 notebook laptop computer. I have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had occasion to put my computer to sleep! I had been working on my college courses for a few hours, when I needed to take a break. I put my system to sleep, but when I returned to complete my assignments my computer would not turn on! It went to an off black screen, and locked up! When at sleep the power indicater blinked, which indicates that it was in sleep mode.
When I tried to awaken my Pavillion it locked up, and the only way to regain control was to manually force it to shut down (i.e. hooded power button down.) thinking this may be due to system clutter I cleaned both user disc & system files using the Windows disk cleaning function, found through the control panel, looked for both HP updates, and Windows updates.
Later I again tried to awaken my machine after putting it to sleep, and had a repeat in the inability to awaken it! A third and the last time I tried to awaken my PC from sleep I noticed that for some reason, and somehow the indicator light was solid, the screen black, and I heard my computers fan running!
I did the conversion from Windows 7 to Windows 10 about 1.5 months ago. This is a Dell Vostro w/Intel Corei5 desktop
All was fine until I attempted to wake the computer from sleep mode recently and got the following error.
An operating system was not found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system
Press Ctrl+Atl+Del to restart
I disconnected the two external drives I had connected and tried again with the same result.
On startup, I've hit F12 to run through the Dell ePSA Pre-boot system assessment and it passes all the tests System, Cables, OS boot Path, Hard drive, cd rom drive, video card, cpu fan, system fan processor and memory.
I have the original 7, 64 bit installation disks, but nothing for Windows 10. What's the best way to get this thing going again?
I have an Asus Ultrabook, UX302L. It came with windows 8 from the factory, I upgraded it to windows 10, all nice and wonderful. About a month ago, I replaced my HDD with an Samsung 850 Evo SSD and I installed a clean copy of Windows 10 which I activated with my windows 8 key. All good till here. But after that my nightmare started:
I can't put my laptop to sleep, because when I try to wake it up it restarts instead, and I lose all my documents, programs started before, etc.
I tried to install a older Intel Management Engine because I found out that the last one is buggy (and it is, I can't even put my computer to hubernate with it, the fans just keep running till it drains my battery, but with the IME 9ish at least hibernation work), I tried to disable fast boot, to install an older version of the integrated intel graphics card driver, tried to put my HDD's to never sleep, disabled hybrid sleep, set the AHCI link power management to HIMP/DIMP, etc.....
Rig only a few weeks old and I noticed for the second time now when my computer is left alone for awhile it acts like it's in sleep mode but mouse and keyboard don't seem to be waking it. I fixed it last time by just restarting computer...
View 1 RepliesAfter updating to Windows 10 Pro recently I get a lot of BSOD's (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). Mostly when my laptop wakes up from a well deserved moment of sleep. Also I noticed that sometimes the laptop awakens from sleep when I didn't ask it to wake up.

My laptop goes to sleep and never wakes up without having to force a restart. I have changed the settings so it will never sleep or turn off the display, but, it goes to sleep anyway
So, I don't know how to fix it, and I need to know how. I turn my back for 5 minutes, and all my unsaved work is lost cause I have to force a shutdown. The computer goes to sleep, I press the on button, the computer starts doing its usual hum, the number lock light turns on, and nothing else happens.
When I put my laptop to sleep and then attempt to wake it up, it will power on (going through the boot up screens) instead of just waking up, thus causing me to lose any information open on the computer.
I have tried a few things to try to wake it up to no avail:
sfc /scannow in cmd
unplug all usb devices before going to sleep/waking up
rollback graphics drivers
resetting power plan settings and power button settings back to default state
Is there some memory dump file to fix this?
I had an initial fault with Windows 10 where the start button disappeared so to switch it off I used Alt/F4. That brought up a small screen that allowed me to shut down . The next time I tried it I looked at a couple of options and chose sleep mode...Big mistake. I cannot wake up the screen at all, the computor itself will switch on and off mit the power switch but nothing appears on the screen, it is blank. I have tried hitting various buttons on the keyboard to no avail.
View 2 RepliesA couple of weeks ago my PC started having issues. It started by the screens (2) flashing static when I would wake it up from sleep. I would have to reboot to fix it. Then when I would reach the login screen and enter my password I would be greeted by a black screen with just a mouse cursor. I though it had froze, but it turns out if I wait 15-20 minutes the desktop would eventually load. I tried restoring from a previous point but it didn't work and caused more issues. Suddenly none of my apps nor the store worked.
I tried an image restore and it seems to have fixed my app issue, but I'm still having screen issues and a long boot time. If that wasn't frustrating enough, I tried to install the latest Nvidia drivers today and as soon as I begin installing I get the blue screen, it has to restart and I get this message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I upgraded to Windows 10 when it was first released and have had no issues up to this point. I'm wondering if this issue wasn't all caused when I installed the last set of Nvidia drivers they released on 8/31/15.
I've tried a sfc scannow and it came up with nothing.

I have upgraded Win 8.1 Ent into Win 10 Enterprise. While upgrading I had an older version of BIOS. Since then I have upgraded to the latest BIOS version available for my MOBO. My MOBO is ASUS's P8H77.
I can not boot or restart into BIOS from Win 10. I have googled the problem and it was mentioned something about new UEFI method of OS installation. When I am trying to restart/boot using the Advanced Boot option my OS is missing the "UEFI Firmware Settings" option, therefore I can't get into my BIOS.
My questions are:
- All this is happening because I had an old version of BIOS and when I upgraded something got screwed up?
- Does my motherboard support Win 10 UEFI option at all?
- Do I need to do clean install? Is it possible to avoid such option?
Reason for all these trouble: My PC freezes when I leave it working overnight. I do not know how to troubleshoot it because no reason for the freeze is indicated in the Even Viewer. Why the heck my PC freezes? I do not get any BSOD or errors, just a freeze and the only way to reset the PC is to hold down the power button.
I have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 on it. When it goes into sleep mode, if I swipe the touch pad within a few seconds it will come out of sleep mode. However if I'm not at the computer so that it is in sleep mode for a while, then when I swipe the touch to pad wake it up sometimes it will wake up but sometimes it won't. If it won't wake up then I have to use the power switch to shut it off and reboot it.
View 5 RepliesWhen I close the lid of my laptop, put it into sleep mode, or put it into hibernation mode, the laptop basically shuts down. The power light flashes on and off, but when I reopen the lid or press the power button to turn it back on, the screen flashes grey and reboots.
What I have tried:
Changing all of the advanced power options
Resetting my laptop (to before the issue started occurring)
Restoring my laptop to factory settings
Redownloading windows 10
Disabling the UEFI (BIOS) setting that allows the computer to be turned off to save power
Updating the drivers that were suggested on the windows eight forums
Downloading the chipset driver from Asus
Downloading the ACHI Link Power Management and trying all the settings
What I've done in the command prompt:sfc /scannow then Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.I also tried the chkdsk command but there were no problems found
When I started noticing the problem:After I downloaded VMware's player and created a virtual computer with Ubunt

Just installed Win10 on my 4 yr old HP G60535D. Now I have have to re-boot everytime I shut the lid. Played around with power settings, etc etc but no luck. When I first open the lid, I can hear the computer running, a slight mechanical burp of some sort, then nothing... totally blank screen. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off, then re-boot. A 1st world problem for sure, but kind of irritating.
