How To Remove Microsoft App Decorations
Aug 7, 2015
After upgrading to Windows 10, some Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Etc..) have this obnoxious decoration with pipes and arrows in the top right above menu icons. Any way to remove/customize this? (see below)

I'm giving this computer to a friend and I want it to be a blank slate. How do I disconnect all this microsoft account crap from my computer? The MS website gives instructions but there is no prompt to do so when I try. How do I disable the opening password when booting up the computer? I tried the netplwiz command and unchecked the box but all it did was make another user with the same name. Or is there a way I can make a new admin account for him somehow and delete all the other ones from that one?

I signed in with a microsoft account in windows 10 because I wanted to try minecraft windows 10 edition. Now I want to remove it but I am unable to. To remove the account I go click the start menu, click my name, click change account settings, scroll down to accounts used by other apps, click my email, click remove, but nothing happens. I did switch to a local account. When I click remove, the settings window just disappears without anything happening. I also ran the SFC Command but it found nothing. Edit: I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10

I was messing around with folders and stuff in Windows 10, now this Microsoft Office Outlook icon is stuck on my desktop all of a sudden and there is no way to get rid of it.
-Doesn't provide a delete option
-Selecting it and pressing the delete key nor shift+delete works
-Doesn't show up in explorer when you navigate to Desktop folder
-Doesn't appear in search results
-Even trying to open it does nothing
-Is visible when using the Unlocker program, but still no option to delete. Clicking 'OK' just closes Unlocker.
Wasn't really installing anything when I noticed it, and malwarebytes found nothing, so I'm pretty sure it's not a virus or anything.
-Someone told me to "hold shift, right click empty area on desktop, click open command window here in the right click menu, type dir & hit enter, type del "name"" but it didn't show up there either.
-I was asked if I ever had Office 2007 or how old my machine is, but the answer is no and I built this desktop in 2011, just last week did a fresh install of Windows 10 Home. Also, this just appeared today; never before.
-Was told its a registry entry, not a file, and to to look for it in regedit [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer but it's not there
-Told to delete {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerDesktopNameSpace but it is also not there.
The only thing is that when I search for "Microsoft Office Outlook" in regedit, I get this file:
Deleted it and nothing happens. Reappears when you restart the computer.
I tried booting into safe mode as well as removing the latest windows update that occurred on the same day.

I'm having quite a bit of trouble removing the generic bluetooth drivers that Windows installs for you. Those have to be gone if I want to install Toshiba Bluetooth Stacks, which I need in order to use my Wii U Pro Controller in my computer. I've gone through a few methods to try this out and all have failed.
I started out by simply uninstalling the drivers on the device manager (or whatever it is called in English). Didn't work, as the drivers were back when I had to plug in my dongle to complete the installation for TBS. When I tried this in Windows 7, it worked flawlessly, yet in Windows 10 this method did not work.
Afterwards, I tried deactivating the forced driver signature, as well as make it so Windows Update doesn't automatically download any drivers it finds suitable. On top of this, I traveled into the INF folder of my Windows folder to do steps that Microsoft recommended: rename bth.inf to bth.inf.old and bth.pnf to bth.pnf.old. With all this, it should in theory work right? Nope, it didn't. Not even after a reset.
My last attempt involved unplugging my PC from the Internet as a first step, followed by everything else listed above and then a reset. The drivers were still back, bth.inf and bth.pnf somehow magically appearing in my Windows folder when I have no Internet access. I'm at a loss as to what I'm supposed to do.

I have successfully installed windows 10. I am having difficulty trying to login to my Live ID though.
1: I go to my account.
2: I click change account settings.
3: I see that i am a "local account administrator."
4: I click "sign in with a microsoft account instead"
5: Box pops up, loads for about 2 seconds then i see "something went wrong. Try again, or select cancel to set up your device later."
6: I click retry and the error continues to pop up.
I am connected to internet. My computer met the spec requirements and runs very fast. Everything else on the computer works. Prior to installing windows 10. i factory reset the laptop. Got all appropriate Windows 7 updates before installing 10. Setting up a second account is also impossible. I receive the same error.

I got an email today titled 'Welcome to Windows 10 Getting Started Series'. I hate being pestered like this. It said in the email:"f youve opted out of receiving email, youll only get one more in this series" but I can't find any way of verifiying if I've opted out. I went to my microsoft account and looked all over but couldn't find anything that confirmed if I had opted out or in. I suspect ms deliberately designed it this way to make it hard to do so.

Just got a new laptop, when it started it up it asked me to create a username and password so I did. I then went into settings and click on sign in to my Microsoft Account so I could access my sons games, etc.
It says it's unable to connect or some error, try again or cancel are my options. Weird part is it doesn't even allow me to enter anything in it just goes right to you can't login.
I'm doing a system reset, if I can't login this time what do I do?

The situation is that I upgraded from win7 to 10 and I have a basic "local administrator account". When I go to my account settings and try to click on "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead", nothing happens (there is a brief background window that flashes and then nothing happens).
Similarly, if I try to login to the xbox one app, it also says that it could not sign me in. If I click on the "sign in with a different Microsoft account", it presents me with the option to "choose an account: Microsoft account". When I click on that, again nothing happens at all.
I get the same results if I try to turn on Cortana-- when she eventually asks to connect to a Microsoft account, I click "sign in" and again nothing happens (here again I sometimes see a brief window flash in the background but I never get a login screen.
Last but not least, I get this same result if I try to add a Microsoft account to the Mail App in Win10. As soon as I try to click to add an Outlook/Hotmail account, it flashes and nothing happens. I am able to add other types of accounts to Mail (google, etc). (Oh, and if I try to login to the Microsoft Store I also get the same login problem as described).
I'm really bummed b/c I cannot use a lot of features in Windows 10 and how to hook into a Microsoft account.
Things I have tried: I run windows updates constantly just to be sure, I have rest my "clock" and time settings repeatedly, I have made sure my location settings are turned 'on'. I have tried turning all of these things off and then on, then rebooting and checking for updates...still no way to login to Microsoft account .

Now I can't remove accounts or change one letter spelling error in calendar name. Will I be able to if I some how get out of the whole Microsoft account login in Win 10? Should I just try to add an additional calendar with the same name but correct spelling? I would like to be rid of the start up log in and the feeling of not being in control. I am in my seventies and usually OK with sorting out issues but dealing with all the new stuff at once is a bit much.

I am enjoying my upgrade of Windows 10 except for I can't sign-in with my Microsoft account. I went from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. I can log in with a local account (same as Windows 7). I can't download any apps from the Windows Store, Microsoft Edge doesn't work like it should. BTW, when I click on "sign in with Microsoft account instead" in the settings, a window wants to pop up but suddenly disappears.

I have Logitech X-530 and when I play a video in Microsoft Edge or any browser only the front speakers work as usual. But sometimes, only in Microsoft Edge, when I play a video in YouTube the player says "An error occurred" and then all the speakers start working. I don't know how but my question is isn't there a way to make all the speakers work not only when "An error occurred"?

I upgraded to Windows 10 the second day it was available and have had problems with not being able to use any Microsoft account features. When trying to sign in on the Xbox app I get the error 0x3fb and get a button that says try again. When I try to click "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" it just sits there and does nothing no matter how long I wait or how many times I click it. The same issue occurs when I try to make a new local account or add a Microsoft account to the Cortana app. not being able to use the features of Windows 10 make the upgrade pointless.

I couldn't fit it all in the title. Basically what I'm trying to ask for is if there is a way to remove the folders from "This PC" so I'm just displaying my hard drives like before. I'd like to keep the folders under quick access, and I would like to keep the folders in general, but they simply do not belong right by the drives under "This PC". I like change, but this one, I do not like at all.
