View 1 RepliesI own a Dell Inspiron N5547, updated from W8.1 to W10 Pro a few days back. The Dell Touchpad came installed with the upgrade, and for the first 2 days, all the gestures were working perfectly. On the third day, the three finger scroll up (for task view) stopped working and invokes Cortana instead. I went on the Dell Touchpad program and tried to untick the three finger tap for Cortana, but to no avail. Its really annoying, I tried to restart my latpop but faced the same problem.
I tried to search for solutions, one included uninstalling the Dell Touchpad from Programs and Features, then downloading the latest version from the Dell website. I did so, and installed it again, and once again for the first day the three finger scroll was working perfectly, but when I woke up the next morning, it started invoking Cortana again.
When running the tech preview, i cant get any programs to control the speed on my fan. I am using a fan on my heatsink, that i can control via AI Suite II on Windows 8.1. But on W10 TP i get an error message saying something about an access violation when i try to open Fan Xpert 2.
I have tried Speed Fan (the newest version with W10 support) but no luck. Its really annoying having to listen to the fan spin up all the time, i can't stand it.
They changed mouse scroll to scroll next/previous instead of zoom. I use a Logitech mouse with Setpoint installed and because of Setpoint smooth scroll, it scrolls through several photos on one scroll. Turning smooth scroll off, it doesn't always scroll next when the mousewheel "clicks". Another thing with my Logitech mouse is that I can't use the forward/backward buttons. They function as left click. Double click any and it zooms in. I can't change Setpoint settings per app because Photos isn't really a typical exe app like Notepad.
The last thing is that it seems to sharpen the photos even when I turned auto adjustments off. Compare Photos to Firefox and even Windows Photo Gallery and you'll see.So far, Windows Photo Gallery seems like a good alternative, except it doesn't play gifs (unless you click next frame really fast).
I do not know why, but ever since (thats when I started downloading again) I have upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10, downloading is really difficult. when I was still using 8.1, I used Orbit downloader to download my files, but since I have upgraded to windows 10, all apps were lost, and for some reason I cant download Orbit again.
Now I have been switching from on Download manager to the other, from Eagle Get, IDM, Jdownloader. still my download speed SUCK, it is slow as a turtle. but when I am playing online games it is fine, my ping is good, when I am streaming videos it is also fast. but when it comes to downloading IT IS SLOW. why ? is it because of the download manager ? I remember updating my Battlefield 4 and the speed is good. but now, it so slow.
The other day, I tried to do a factory reset on my laptop, but it failed, and I could only click cancel. Now, when I booted up my computer, it goes to the ASUS logo, then a black screen, still backlit, with an underscore flashing in the upper left corner of the screen. I can access the BIOS, and have been trying to do boot overrides. I don't have the ASUS Recovery partition installed on the laptop, and I don't have any possible ways to install an ISO. T

View 1 RepliesI had Windows 8.1 Pro and upgraded to Windows 10 via Windows Update. I can't set as lock screen this service that personalize it. I can do it on my laptop! I don't have Paint either.
View 3 RepliesToday I updated my win8.1 to win10 on Lenovo Y580. Everything works perfectly fine, but I make a habit of switching to previous/next pages in chrome by swiping 3 fingers to the left/right. It has been this way since windows 7. Now swiping changes tabs in win10 (like alt+tab) and it's really irritating.
Is there a way to change the registry in Synaptics to previous options or am I doomed to work with backspace?
I'm using HP 15-n061sr with Windows 10 SL and SSD Plextor PX-128M6Pro.
Right after the upgrade from Windows 8.1, I started to experience SMART error on reboot, and only on reboot. I mean that if I just turn the laptop off and on it doesn't happen. It says that SMART detected a possible imminent failure of my disk. If I press "Continue startup", it says something like "insert boot device" or that it can't detect an operating system. Then I can go to BIOS options and restart from there - it boots up flawlessly. This happens every time I reboot. I upgraded 2 days ago. I have the latest SSD drivers. I used Windows' disk optimization tool. SSDLife Pro says disk health is fine.
P.S. I once had imminent failure problem with my previous SSD, but it happened once and it never started again; I got the refund under warranty.
When I try to turn smart screen on, the options are greyed out, and I am told that "this setting is managed by your system administrator". I tried running the reg file "Set_SmartScreen_to_get_administrator_approval.reg" but it didn't change anything.
View 1 RepliesI want to change the three finger action on my laptop touchpad. I have win 8.1 driver synaptics driver installed. The three finger gestures can't be changed, only enabled or disbaled. Now, the gestures do the forward and backward navigation on left/right three finger swipe and pageup and pagedown action on up/down swipe. I want to change the up/down or if possible left/right gestures to the new actions introduced in win 10.
researched a bit online and I think that maybe they can be changed through registry edits.
Secondly, I also want to change three finger press to Notification centre. I have a option to launch any program with this gesture so I want to know that if an executable shortcut can be created to windows notification centre (shortcut: Win+A).
Why isn't the two finger scrolling gesture no longer working after upgrading to Windows 10 (Lenovo G50)? No driver updates on Lenovo's website.
View 1 RepliesI can't adjust my brightness on my laptop with either the hotkeys (F11 + F12), or with the display menu in settings.
Yesterday it worked before i got to bed, then i shut it down and this morning i started it up and the brightness won't change anymore.
I can access the screen in control panel to change display resolution in Windows 10 but can't adjust the resolution. It just won't let me! My display is two inches to the left and icons appear stretched vertically.
View 1 RepliesI find the white of the win 10 windows just easy to bright, especially late are night. I don't wanna reduce my monitors brightness cos i have to up it again after to pay my xbox.is there a brightness setting?
View 9 RepliesI have Win 10 on for several months with almost no problems. Yesterday I had something (?) on the screen and looked away to the TV. When I looked at the screen it was rotated 90 degrees clockwise. My wife did fix that for me. but still have 2 problems. The (Window) on the far left of the task bar will only respond to a right click. Not a big deal but the speaker button on the right side of the task bar does not open the volume slider. Must left click on the speaker and go from there.

View 9 RepliesI have recently encountered weird problems with Windows 10, such as not being able to adjust the brightness (upon booting up, the brightness is either 0% or 100%), and sudden lag spikes that affect FPS by dropping it to 0 for 1-2 seconds, every 3 seconds. I have recently updated AMD Radeon drivers, and Windows 10 has also updated itself (which has always messed up everything) Also, now when the screen goes black (sleep mode), it always requires me to log in back to my Windows account, and it didn't do that before Windows updated itself.
The lag that I'm experiencing, is NOT connection-based lag, so my internet connection and everything works perfectly. It just the FPS that drops suddenly. It just freezes everything for a moment. It also doesn't require me playing a game or anything; just being on the desktop, having nothing open, will still make the lag spikes occur. My processor runs on the desktop around 8-24%, and when the lag spikes occur, it doesn't change at all. So nothing's draining the processor, I guess. Also the memory and all the others stay on the same level.I am using a HP Laptop that's not that efficient, but I have always been able to play games like Minecraft with decent settings on 60FPS.
How can I set the background color of my tool bar. I don't like the black one.
View 2 RepliesIam not able to adjust brightness on my Lenovo Windows 10 laptop. The short keys don't work and the option in taskbar on clicking the battery icon doesn't work either..
I think I got this problem after the windows update that came a few days ago. My laptop screen is brighter than my future right now and Im forced to use some third party screen filter software to avoid hurting my eyes..
I upgraded to windows 10 on 05/08/15. after completion of the upgrade the screen brightness increased tremendously. i am not able to reduce it. i tried mobility centre, device manager and all usual methods.
View 3 RepliesOne of my many gripes about the whole Metro side of Windows 8/8.1 is the limited ability to adjust the tiny font sizes in the start screen, tiles, app list or basic apps like Mail, People, Calendar, etc. Mail let you adjust font size within a message you were composing, but you were stuck with very small text in the folder, inbox and preview panes.

View 2 Repliesjust updated to windows ten with my Sony Vaio 14 touchscreen laptop. 2 things ive noticed so far that have been bugging me is 1. I cannot adjust my brightness with the f5 & f6 keys like i could before... nor do i know how to changed the brightness now at all. Also if not able to connect to an external display (i.e. monitor or TV) used to do it automatically with 8 now nothing.
View 1 RepliesI know how to turn off/on the "USB selective suspend setting". I actually don't mind that it is enabled however what I find annoying is when my external 'wakes', a window pops up showing all of my files on the external as if I just plugged it in for the first time. Is it possible to stop this popup window?
In Windows 8 when I plugged something in for the first time, I got a popup asking what I wanted to do with it. I didn't get that option with W10 ...
