View 1 RepliesI was wonding if I can backup OneNote? Like if I want to do a clean install of Win10 in the future. Right now I'm using Notepad for all of my notes but thinking about moving everything to OneNote if I could back it up.

kind menu in OneNote in Windows 10? It isn't showing anywhere for me and the app lacks most of the functionality it had in Win 8(.1) without it..
I'm using a Surface 3. I installed the OneNote desktop (2016 I think; OneNotes doesn't make it easy to discover which version you're using) alongside the app. Mostly I work in the desktop OneNote, but for a quick note, pressing the top of the stylus and getting straight into taking a note is very convenient.
I'd swear when I first started doing this, the notes I created with the app appeared in the Quick Notes notebook of the desktop OneNote. Now they don't; they're different ones; older ones I think. How to make notes created in the app appear in a desktop version notebook?
I just updated my windows 10 and all of my windows store, windows onenote, cannot be open.

It was actually happening in the build before this one but I wanted to see if it would go away but it didn't. It happens even if I don't use my pen button and just use the tool from OneNote.

I'm running Office 2013 and Windows 10. I also have my own personal Office 365 account.I have been using the Windows Store OneNote app with my personal Windows Account OneDrive since Windows 8. I now want to transition everything to my OneDrive for Business account. When I use the Windows Store OneNote app and try to add the OneDrive for Business Account, after I enter my login credentials, I just get a blank popup window with the "#" in the upper-left interior of the window. All I can do is close the window at that point.
I tried entering a wrong password, just to make sure that it was properly checking my credentials and that test passed, so it is definitely not a password issue. I authenticate, but then nothing is displayed in that popup window for me to complete the addition of the new account.Of course, if I use my Office 365 OneNote app, it works fine, no issues. But when I use the Windows Store OneNote app, that's when I get the problems I describe above.
The Desktop version, OneNote 2013, also works fine with my OneNote for Business/Office 365 notebook. Is there something I am doing wrong not have not setup correctly?
I am puzzled by the term backup when you go to Settings > Backup.
I have a folder on my NAS defined as my backup drive.
I have set the time interval to every ten minutes until I am sure of what is being backed up.
Does the backup process store MY files as opposed to WIN 10 files in that folder and could be used to restore them if I had to re-install Win 10?

Just bought a new Windows 10, Office 2016, Ultra HD Lenovo computer. Already having issues, surprise surprise! Not only are there scaling/blurry issues with some apps, but Windows Backup and Restore is displaying the following error:
The semaphore timeout period has expired.
I'm trying to backup to an external Seagate drive.
I've tried several fixes as I was previously having this issue too ([URL]), but nothing has worked.

View 9 RepliesJan. 3rd 2016 I have a 931 GB external HDD using a brick power supply and connected by USB. I wish to do weekly backups to it via Start/Settings/Update & Security/Backup.
It is not listed when I click Add a drive, although I can see and read it in This PC. I tried a restart but that has not worked. I do see a couple of USB sticks which are too small. Trying via Advanced settings is the same.
Prior to trying to add this drive I scrolled down and followed the instruction which said to delete the previous drive which was also an external HDD connected by sata. I used THAT drive via Macrium and it got carried over in the W10 update from W8.1.
I recently purchased a Hp Pavillion laptop pre-installed with Windows 10. I like Windows 10 because it is simple and to the point. However, I am interested in using certain software like StarDock & such, but it is not compatible with Windows 10. Since my computer came pre-installed with Windows 10 I cannot "revert". I have a Windows 7 iso on my computer & I have tried multiple times to run Windows 7. I ran the installer, it prompted me to restart my computer. and there were two bootable options, Windows 10 & Windows setup.

View 1 RepliesSo I decided to upgrade to Windows 10.After 2 years my PC dies or I decide to get a new one. How will I install the Windows 10? Is there a way to backup the Windows 10 files to a disc (only windows files) so I would have my Windows 10 copy ready for fresh install?Or in that case I will need to live with my Windows 8.1?
View 8 RepliesI recently and I might say reluctantly, upgraded to Windows 10. The upgrade went fine, however I'm not able to create a backup of the system image or folder files. I have a 320 GB WD Blue drive for the backup. There was always more than enough space to do this under Windows 7. After failing a number of times I deleted the drive completely and re formatted it. I now have no backup.
View 1 RepliesThough I use Macrium for backup but few months back I created a Backup of one PC with Redo and saved the backup directly in pen drive but forgot to format the pen drive in NTFS and it remained Fat32. So the Redo created backup in four parts i.e part2, part3, part4 and part 5 ( I do not know why part 1 is not there) total 7GB. My question is whether Redo will be able to restore the backup from these parts or I will have to first joined the parts which I do not know how?
View 2 RepliesI had updated windows 7 home premium to windows 10 then when the update was complete I created a backup image of the whole system.... and saved in an external HD. then my fixed disk died, replaced by a new fixed HD I can not recover the backed up windows ten image from my external HD ... is that due that when replaced the new HD I am contrived to recover the system with windows 7 home premium and windows 7 do not recognize the backed image of windows 10?

View 1 RepliesI just bought a WD My Passport Ultra and it comes with a copy of WD Backup. Never using backup software I decided to give it a try and see what happens. I had no problems at all until I ended up with a message "These files failed to back up: UPPS.bin, 15.77kb". so I decided to try and find the file, which I found. The question is, what this file does and is it necessary to backup? Probably most of you know where this file is but for those who don't you can find the file at: C:UsersUser NameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsUPPSUPPS.bin.
