Sep 17, 2015I used to run a *.Bat file that cleared out old event viewer reports in W7 64, is there an equivalent file/utility that I can run for W10 64 ?

View 3 RepliesIn my new W10 I am getting 'Class not registered" reports and the link does not open, in fact it may be the majority of the new links created by the upgrade which are affected.
View 1 RepliesDoes SFC /Scannow really work? It always finds corrupt files in all of my systems regardless of the age of the OS install. Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.
View 2 RepliesIf I go to the network and sharing center on one of the computers on our home network it reports that it is not connected to a network, but this system can see other computers on the network and access the internet. The other computers cannot see this system, however. This system has an older X38 motherboard with an E8400 processor, but the initial in-place upgrade from Windows 7 had no problems at all.
I didn't notice the problem until I realized that about two weeks of backups across the network had failed. I have tried the repair tools in Windows 10 and have uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter without success. I was hoping that the problem would be fixed by installing the recent big windows update, but windows update reports that it cannot connect even though I have internet access.
Noticed recently that my Weather Live Tile only reports data when it is in medium sizing. Expanding to wide or large disables the live feature for some reason. I was wondering if this is a known issue or if it is just a setting I can modify.
View 1 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory ManagementSet ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.Restart Windows.
I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?
When I first upgraded to Win 10 I had no problem but now outgoing messages stay in my Outbox for absolutely ages. I have recently gone to fibre broadband and have no problems receiving emails.
View 2 RepliesI would like to clear my Reliability history after doing some program testing that generated a lot of errors. I cleared out all of the Event logs, but a number of errors are still showing in the Reliability history.
There was a tutorial in the Windows 7 forums as well as a similar Win 7 solution with a batch file at the Windows Club.
It appears that the files used to be stored in the ProgramdataMicrosoftRAC folder, which doesn't seem to exist for Windows 10.
make the "Clear All Event Viewer Logs using a BAT file" self starting such as making it run automatically on a daily basis or show me what code I would need to add to it to do that for me. I would just love to clear out the 10016s and 7031s codes daily.
View 2 RepliesThe title pretty much sums it. I'm having some issues with my PC, (not bad, resolved easily from just a clean install) and i'm going to use the windows media creation tool to do a fresh install of windows on my drive. Now my PC came with windows 8.1 pre-installed, but since i HAVE upgraded to windows 10 already, it won't download windows 8.1 right? Also, since i already have windows and everything working on this drive, will i need to do a factory restore before using the media creation tool, or does it clear everything on the drive anyway when i use the creation tool?
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if you can clear your windows update history like windows 8 or 7 in 10?

View 1 RepliesRecently updated to Windows 10 and found that Chrome now has a tendency to freeze so thought I'd give Edge a crack of the whip!
I imported all my Favorites but now realize I have far too many collected over the years and half of them are obsolete! Rather than painstakingly pruning them, I want to wipe the whole lot (just from Edge) and then repopulate Favorites manually.
(Also, can you not simply drag and drop from the Address Bar into the Favorites Bar as you can on Chrome?
On my Desktop, whenever I go to Start > Power > Sleep , when I come back from Sleep the Start window is still open. In Windows 7 we came back to a clean desktop. It does this on 3 PCs.
View 5 RepliesMy Laptop has an ongoing problem (about a month now) persistent through several windows updates. The taskbar will sometimes, with no clear trigger or cause, start to rapidly flash between all my open windows, eventually when I click anywhere on the taskbar I am prompted with a not responding windows and the only option is to end the "microsoft windows" process. All the taskbar icons then disappear and seem to reload over approx 10 seconds, once this is complete, all the same windows are open, its as if nothing has happened?Needless to say this is seriously irritating, and gets me raging so my productivity hits rock bottom,
