I'm rather having much trouble with the standard virus scanner. I am not a fan of them, they block files and create errors.
Now, I have windows defender and every time I restart my pc it turns it self on, after disabling it. How to get rid of this?
I'm on build 10074 of Windows 10 and cannot find a way to permanently disable Windows Defender. When I go to Control Panel > Windows Defender > Settings, it brings up the new Windows 10 System Settings app which gives an option to turn "Real-time protection" off. However, the description on that states:
Real-tim protection find and stop malware form installing or running on your PC. You can turn it off temporarily, but if it's off for a while, we'll turn it back on automatically.
After about 15 minutes, it turns itself back on. How can I disable this permanently?
In Windows 10 v1511, I noticed that if I disable the real-time protection of Windows Defender, when I reboot the system, this protection comes back on automatically.

View 4 RepliesRecently I was notified that a driver installation failed. I went and checked it out, and it was a driver for HD 4600 graphics. My old system ran an i7-4790K, and when I upgraded to X99 I did not reimage my SSD.
Is there a way I can remove an update from Windows Update? The CPU I have has no iGPU, let alone HD 4600.
Tried msconfig with no initialization GUI but no success. Windows10

I did find some suggestions to remove it, but it also removes the search and causes problems to other stuff.

View 1 RepliesI am coming to realize that I have a serious problem spending too much time surfing the web. I wake up in the morning, get on the internet, and instead of spending thirty minutes on my computer, I end up wasting three hours.
There are plug-ins available for browsers, but they're easily disabled when I just don't feel like "being good." I know there are parental control programs, but I believe they are accessible by the administrator by just entering in a password or some such.
I know there are router settings that turn off internet during certain times of the day (e.g., 12a-5a daily), but I am looking for software or a router program that can just turn off all access to the internet for a certain span of time (e.g., thirty minutes), and that can't be disabled. After that set period of time, the web would again be accessible.
Are there any solutions: software, Windows settings, router settings, plugins, scripts (I'm not an advanced PC expert, but I can do basics like modifying the registry)?
I am wanting to remove or at least disable edge browser in Windows 10. I will never use this web browser and so would like to get it out of the way.
View 9 RepliesI've clean installed W10 on my Dell laptop and then installed my programs including the Dell utilities Dell Support Assist, Dell Quickset & Dell Digital Delivery.
I eventually decided these no longer offer me anything useful and have uninstalled them. However, Autoruns is currently showing the following are loaded:
Services:
Dell DataVault
DellDataVaultWiz
Drivers:
DDDriver
DellProf
Installed Directory:
C:Program FilesDellDellDataVault
I'm no fan of software which doesn't clean up properly after uninstalling it. I've disabled the above services and all is fine but I'm wary of disabling the drivers since I decided to keep the Dell Touchpad driver.
Can I disable these drivers and better still, is there a way of completely removing the Dell services and drivers which their uninstaller has failed to remove?
I have never turned this or activated it. It trurns itself on and off and it will not let me uninstall it from add/remove programs. It is running right now using 54% of my cpu according to task manage.
View 4 RepliesI have tried for days to remove a Bluetooth Speaker that did not install proper, I remove it try to re-pair does not pair, then upon reboot it is installed again with error. No matter how many times its removed Windows keeps re installing the device on its own.
How do you completely remove a bluetooth device, all traces so you can start fresh?

I have win 10 pro x64 1511, the problem is that i want to disable defender but in services all the options aren't available like in this image:
I don't know that happen, is like I'm running without admin privilege or something but I'm the only user in my laptop so that can't be possible.

View 4 RepliesI'm using build 10240, and in the first install, it installed the Realtek audio drivers.
The problem with these drivers is that they completely mess up the sound in my headphones.
Anyways, I've tried : Uninstalling the audio manager in control panelDeleting the oem#.infUninstalling the drivers in Device Manager
None of these work. When I uninstall it, the driver is just reinstalled when my computer reboots.

View 3 RepliesI have a new Dell Computer with Windows 10. I have deleted McAfee with its on Uninstaller and also with another uninstaller. I have no other antimalware programs running. I have tried a number of ways to start Windows Defender, which is the only antimalware program listed in my Security area. I have tried to start it with Services. I get an error message as shown below. I get this error message: "The Windows Defender Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs." I have removed all other antimalware programs and no longer get McAfee popups.

View 1 RepliesAs I use a proprietary antirvirus, and on a whim, I just thought to check my Windows Defender setting, only to find to find that it was turned on*. (I could swear I turned it off, sometime in the past. I was further surprised to find that the On/Off button is disabled--so I CAN'T turn it off!
I'm further surprised to find the notice, under Settings/Windows Defender, which says "You can turn this off temporarily, but if we find that it is turned off for a while we'll turn it back on again, automatically." (One mystery solved*)
As I understand it, Windows Defender is merely Microsoft's own notion of free antivirus software--so when Windows turns Defender on again, this means I not only have two antivirus packages running (and possibly interfering with each other--involuntarily) but also that I now seem to have no choice in the matter--unless, of course, I permanently uninstall the antivirus software that I paid good money for.
Questions: How do I re-enable the Windows Defender On/Off button; and How do I DISable Windows ability to turn it on again?
I'm logged on, it's my computer, I'm the administrator, there are no AV running. However I get the system error " Windows Defender is being managed by your system administrator" controlled by group policy. All I want to do is turn it on. Local Group Policy shows nothing is configured...??
View 3 RepliesThere does not seem to be a way to schedule an automatic daily scan with Windows Defender. I got a action center notification to run a Defender scan. Is that something I can expect regularly? Having to do a regular manual scan will be difficult.
