View 1 RepliesI have been using windows 10 on my Acer Aspire since Microsoft first offered it. Today it has come up with a bit of a surprise. I no longer have the ability to create new folders on my desktop or anywhere else. Previously I would right click on the desktop and in the popup window select "new" then "folder" et voila a new folder. Now if I right click I get no such options.
View 1 RepliesFor some time I have been unable to access or create folders.
View 1 RepliesI use Windows 10 Mail on my PC. I simply cannot find the way to create new folders where I can move my e-mails according to different subjects/topics from the Inbox. I think Mail is OK.
View 1 RepliesI have tried creating a folder in every known location to get an additional folder to show up in the start menu so I can throw some games and what not under it..I've tried creating a folder named "Games" in the following:
C:ProgramData
C:UsersmynameAppDataLocal
C:Program Files
C:Program Files (x86)
C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
Apparently the 0-Z list doesn't read any of these directories, but I am baffled that my Nvidia driver created a folder and it shows up under "N" just fine...I'm assuming this is some type of regedit but I have no clue where to begin.
Is there a known way to create your own custom shell folders or "special folders?" Default shell folders are Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc. The benefit of a shell folder is you can place it in a Users' Personal Folder, but have the location actually be in another location (even another drive).
An example of a program adding a shell folder would be Zune with "Podcasts."
A shell folder can be identified by its "Location" tab in the properties menu.
I'd like to create my own shell folders to things like "Books" or "Programs" etc. with kinds of files I make. Sort of like a library.
I want to create a desktop shortcut to Mail in windows 10
View 1 RepliesIn W7 I have created folders in the start menu so I can organize by topic. I can't figure out if/how to do that in W10.
View 9 RepliesI understand that my "contacts" are now in an app called "People". I am using Google/Gmail to transfer all of my contacts to People, I also have several groups that I need to transfer or create to enable one email to go to several people in a group.
How do I create groups in Mail or People?
As with many I have upgraded to Windows 10 today and it is going well except for the fact I am unable to save any files or create new ones in the Documents and Pictures folders or any sub-folders within these folders. For instance, I tried to save an image created in paint and attempted to save it in the Pictures folder, it gave me the error message seen in this picture below:
Note, I am the only user on the system, and also the admin account so I do not know why it says this. Clicking Yes on the box does nothing and the same thing still occurs afterward. In addition, bringing up the right click menu and going to new only allows me to create a new folder, and the windows admin shield icon appears next to it. Deleting files also prompts me to ask for admin permission but in that case I can simply click the continue button and it goes through.
I had established some folders that I no longer need or want. I haven't been able to find a way to completely delete them. Surely Microsoft would include some way to do this, as all of the other mail apps do.
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded to windows 10. So using new Mail App. Got all my email accounts on there fine, inbox's syncing no problem. But the folders I had set up on my email account are all empty, says there is nothing to see, including the sent folder. So when I send an email, it doesn't go in to the sent folder on the app. I have to log on to my 1and1 email account and access sent items from there, along with content of all my other folders. Why its not syncing with the folders set up??
View 2 RepliesWhen I open mail in windows 10 I have 2 files for sent and deleted..one sent and one sent items; one deleted items and one delete. They also need to be synced every time I open mail.
View 2 RepliesI use Windows Live Mail, and every time I create a category in my contacts, add 25 names, I come back to find that it has been deleted. Is there a limit to the amount of contacts it holds? How to permanently save a category?
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to 10 on 8/3. Had no problems. Windows 10 Mail needs work.
First, I fixed the problem with recognizing gmail. (AVG firewall.) Now I would like to import my old folders from EClient and give Mail a fighting chance to be my Mail of choice. I cannot find a way to do that task.
I just switched to the new mail app mostly because i want calendar, contacts and email shared across multiple computers and devices. Calendar and contacts seems to be shared fine but I have a cableone.net email and a gmail account. My new mail downloads fine but older mail and none of my folders in outside accounts show up. I have played with the sync settings...started at one week and moved out from there but old mail and folders do not download.
View 2 RepliesI have been using Windows Live Mail for years and have 3 email accounts synced in it. After some recent changes to my PC, the program is suddenly very slow to change between email folders. What I mean specifically is if I click on one inbox, and then click on my deleted folder, there is literally a 5 second delay before the view is switched to the new folder. This has never happened before, it normally take mere milliseconds to change between my email folders. Switching between any folders at all, even if they are empty, takes 5 seconds!!
As for the changes made to my pc, I recently was screwing around with my drive partitions and made a really stupid mistake. I accidentally created a new volume which took up my whole secondary HDD (not my OS drive, but where my emails are stored). Some quick google searching got me a free software that recovered my partitions and after a quick reboot my PC appeared to be working fine again. Except for Windows Live Mail... which when I opened had lost all my email accounts. I re-added them, and for some reason they started to download all my emails from the internet and wouldn't recognize the mail folders where all my emails are stored on my secondary hard drive.
It took over an hour to download all the emails again, which were stored in the default location on my OS drive. I normally keep them on a secondary HDD to save space on my OS SSD, so I was forced to delete all the emails on my secondary HDD where I normally keep them and then direct Windows Live Mail to move all the emails it had just downloaded to the location I just deleted my emails from.
So at the end of the day I made a really dumb mistake, fixed it, and then had to do this weird workaround solution to get my email storage working the way I am used to. All this screwing around now when I use my email it is super slow to switch between folders...
I have already tried doing a full defrag of the drive where my email is stored, as well as a repair of windows live essentials from the control panel. I have heard that addons can cause problems like this in WLM but until today I didn't even know WLM had addons. What I can do before I try reinstalling Windows Live Mail. If I do that I will have to re-download all my emails again...
I have the option "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar" off.
However since the last update whenever I either copy or move a file into any folder windows puts that folder under the Recent group in the taskbar.
So, instead of using my browser for my emails I set them up in Windows Mail, but although it will show all the folders it won't show anything in my inboxes. I've tried syncing but to no avail.
View 1 RepliesI refuse to believe that Microsoft would have omitted this basic function. How does one Import from Windows Live Mail into the Windows 10 Mail App?
View 6 RepliesAll mail and calendar events have vanished and will not sync.
MS when they can't even make an email client?
On Windows 7 start menu you could have a folder such as EA Games and then sub folders within. For example a folder for tiger woods golf, a folder for say Fifa and so on. It seems on Windows 10 you can only have one folder level. I have tried creating sub folders but all the shortcuts within the sub folders all appear under the one top/master folder when actually viewing the start menu. Am I correct in this observation/restriction?
View 9 RepliesI have backup copies of my windows mail files on a portable hdd (JRS, Text docs, XML and PAT files) These were created on my old Vista PC. I am now using a new PC with Windows 10 and would like to import them. I have no way of exporting them to create a CSV file. How do I go about this?

View 1 RepliesI want to set up another calendar. I have a Microsoft account. Can I have multiple calendars on a single machine? When I read the instructions they say to click her or there but the options are not available.
View 8 RepliesSince windows 10 has been launched and it has already been downloaded on my PC and installed. I wanted to know how to create a boot-able DVD so that I can also install it later, you know like doing a completely fresh installation and having the windows staying activated. Cuz windows was upgraded to 10 from 8.1 and Microsoft didn't gave me any key, so if I install it again on the same device will it remain activated?
