View 1 RepliesI have BizSpark, and I'd like to upgrade my Windows 10 Home computer to the Pro version. I downloaded the "Multiple Versions" ISO from MSDN, but when I run it from within Windows, it only lets me re-install the Home edition. How do I upgrade without doing a clean install?
View 9 RepliesI did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 using the method that everyone knows about by now that was written up on various sites today i.e.:
Ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded my copy of Window 8.1 Professional with Windows 10 Professional. Looked in Control Panel --> System and it said my copy of Windows was activated. Then I ran the Media Creation Tool again and downloaded the ISO. Burned ISO to DVD. Restarted computer, booted into Windows installer on DVD, customized the install by formatting drive, did a fresh install of Windows 10.
Now when I go into Control Panel --> System it says "Windows not activated". When I click on the Activate Windows icon and click the error details link I get the error code: 0xC004C003.
I should note that the Windows 8 OS came pre-installed on my laptop which I bought brand new. I don't think that matters?
Tried to set up my Canon CP720 photo printer today. Canon say they have no drivers available, found one on Cnet which I downloaded to old laptop still on Vista but when I try to install it using 10 it says that this version of windows cannot download a printer driver.
View 2 RepliesI have a new rig and made a clean install with Win 8.1 Pro.
After that I directly upgraded to Win 10 Pro within running system.
Are there any advantages to do now a clean Windows 10 installation?
So yesterday I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 from windows 7. I had to update manually with a usb as for some reason Get Windows 10 app wasn't appearing.however for some reason Microsoft Edge refuses to download anything, it just stays there at 0.00bytes forever.I have fully updated my Windows and there are no new updates available.
View 1 RepliesI have a new HP Envy 17t with Windows 10 64 bit. I have been installing various bits of software that I need to have. However, with some applications I get a strange error pop up, first a window telling me that the application is from an unknown source then, when I click OK, to continue, another window pops up, this one:
This has happened twice in the last 24 hours. Once when I tried to install a windows application so that I can root my Lenovo android tablet and then again when I wanted to install a media converter app.
I have the latest versions of both applications, I made sure they both were made for Windows 10 64 bit, but Windows 10 won't install them.
My C drive is fine, but the system is 25 % fragmented with no way to defrag it. If i do a clean install, will it take care of that?
View 1 RepliesFor those people who CLEAN installed Win 10 using the Media Creation Tool, will it automatically update to Threshold-2 (version 1511 Build 10586.36) through Windows Update once installation had been completed? Or does that have to downloaded separately?
And what is the "KB" Number for version 1511 Threshold-2?
Is it possible? If so, how?

View 7 RepliesMy PC has Windows 10 Pro installed on it but it's just a 1 month trial version. I ordered Windows 10 Home for it but I'm wondering if I will get to preserve all my personal files and settings when I install it. I'm going to back it up just in case either way, but it would be nice to know if everything is preserved or not.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 a month ago and now have the Microsoft Edge browser. Now every time I try to download a software program (anti-virus, CD burner etc) I get a message saying I'm not connected to the internet. I have tried everything! Not only can't I download anything, when I try to install the CD creator software I just purchased I also get a message saying it can't connect to the internet. I have tried changing my firewall settings, removing my anti-virus and trying to go back to Internet Explorer 10. Nothing works. Am I going to have to reinstall Windows 7 on my computer?
View 1 RepliesWe all know that IE, Firefox, etc have the option to copy the download link of an ongoing download job. But it seems Microsoft had something really great in mind and has apparently removed that feature from Microsoft Edge I wonder wheres the 'Edge'??
how to bring back the useful 'copy download link' option of an ongoing download link in Edge?
My motherboard manufacturer only has a file for the Windows 10 chipset driver but I remember in the past I was supposed to download the chipset software installation utility first if it was the first time doing a chipset driver on a new comp.

View 2 RepliesWhen using windows update for Windows 10 the update will find updates but will not completely download or install. Version 1511 does not show up to download either. I have been on original version of Win 10 for several months.

I recently bought a HP Envy 17t with Windows 10 64 Bit on it. The first thing I did was to check if any updates were available, there were, and I downloaded and installed them. I checked again about 10 after that (about 2 weeks after getting the laptop). Since then however I can't install any upgrades. I start the download/install process, then leave. When I get back a couple of hours later, I see an error message saying that the MS servers could not be reached.
I don't know what's going on here. I haven't been able to download and install any Windows or MS Office upgrades in over 4 weeks.
I've run the troubleshooter, but still my nicely functioning Windows 10 has one kink -- daily updates download, but then during the required restart, the installation fails and the update is not operational. The restarts take forever, sometimes rolling through the restart process 3 times, before the failure message appears. Win 10 and the computer continue to function well, but without the daily updates, that won't last.

View 2 RepliesI'm about to do a clean install of Windows 10 pro 64bit on to a new SSD I just received in the mail and wondering how I will be able to activate it? I originally did an upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 pro and then a clean install from there back when Win10 pro first became available. I read that I can use the Windows Key on the back of my laptop but I'm not sure that will work because it's a whole new SSD.
View 6 RepliesAll the info I have found on a clean install has been about the Insider Preview, when the official upgrade is available at the end of July, will I be able to do a clean install?
View 6 RepliesMy PC was running 8.1 French version converted to English version (Reseller screwed up).In practice a lot of the stuff was displayed sometimes in Eng sometimes in French. I have the 8.1 French CD.So instead of doing the upgrade which I thought would result in another mishmash of languages, I did a clean install of 10 Home Eng via USB key downloaded install media.Apart from a few video probs (BSOD) blinking cursor, all went well.I cannot use 8.1 product key to activate. Looks like I may have to buy new product key for W10.
