How To Enter BIOS When Fast Start Up Is Activated
Aug 20, 2015
when fast start up is activated, I cannot enter the BIOS by tapping a designated key .
If windows can be loaded, I may disable the fast start up, or simple click the Restart, then tap the designated key during next start up.
How do I enter the BIOS, when Windows cannot be loaded?

I have entered BIOS many times but now I can not. Previously, tapping the delete key or F2 on start up would open BIOS. Now it will not I have tried many times. I have tried from restart as well as from shut down. I wish to change the boot order but am stymied.

I've trying to update an Advent netbook to windows 10 from 7. It's been a hassle all the way with hangs on 'checking for updates'. However, I got through that but now it's stuck on 'Get going fast' screen.
I had selected 'use express settings' and now it's stuck on that screen. The mouse still works but nothing happens. I left it on all night. It's still on the 'get going fast' screen.
If I reboot (even remove battery) I get the initial advent boot screen but no bios info. Del, f12, f11, f2 etc do nothing. The blue 'win 10' logo appears briefly then back to the 'get going fast' screen.
I also tried the usb flash drive that had the old os on it but it won't boot from it despite that being the initial boot setting in the bios. Has win 10 bricked my netbook?

I have a Linx 8 tablet running Windows 10, and despite several hours of web/forum trawling I cannot access my BIOS settings to view my boot manager, either through the Settings/Restart method, or in Safe Mode. I can get to a screen that lets me choose between either UEFI Settings or Boot Manager (by holding the power and the volume up buttons together at start up). Selecting the UEFI option takes me to the expected prompt, but choosing Boot Manager just starts Windows as normal. I simply cannot access my Boot Manager; I have disabled Fast Boot.

In case Windows fails to load, can you still enter BIOS in order to change boot device priority etc. Yes or no.

I have an Asus UEFI mobo on my custom-built desktop, a few months old.
B150M-K D3
It has American Megatrends firmware
Today I restored my system from a macrium reflect system image. I went back only 2-3 hours in time. After rebooting, windows started up fine. But the bios reverted to its default settings, although I had previously tweaked it a bit.
What's more, I can't get to the bios menu at all. I mash the delete key at startup, and I just see a blank screen. Even an hour later, just a blank screen.
This happened to me not so long ago, but that time, the bios screen did eventually appear, and with a little patience I was able to tweak the bios again. But this time it is more stubborn.
I also feel that the boot process is slow. I see the asus advert, and it coughs a couple times and drags on until I get to the windows boot menu where I choose if I want windows 10 or macrium reflect recovery environment.
I very often restore from a system image, and every time, it makes a new bios boot entry. I have dozens of boot entries by now in the bios boot menu. Maybe that's causing a problem?
The fan is unusually loud, although cpu usage is low, just 0-2 %

I just bought an ssd. i installed it then windows didn't detect it so i format it and everything now its working. So I decided to go into the bios to make my win10 boot off of the ssd then the hard drive as a secondary then i save and exit and turn my pc off to test the boot. i get a message saying change the boot device and when i kept restarting it it kept popping up. so i had to unplug the sata data on my ssd. not since its connected, win10 will boot off of the hdd. then i notice after i unplug it and turn it on it wont even give me an opportunity to enter the bios windows automatically starts up; there is no logo of my mobo brand with controls on how to enter the bios under it. i still press the button that would let me enter but nothing happens but win10 starts up. so after that i plug in the ssd and now its not detected and it wont let me format it as if its not even installed in my system! NOW I CANT ENTER THE BIOS AND A USELESS BRAND NEW 250GB SSD...

I have the following problems With the fast start up enabled only
1. The screen never appears past the post bios screen.
2.Wifi won't connect. I have to manually disable the wireless adapter and then enable it.
If the fast start up is disabled then this won't occur.

I recently upgraded my SENS 900X Samsung laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10. I did the easy upgrade, not a clean install. I did reformat my computer while it was in Windows 7, updated it, then upgraded to Windows 10.
When I turn on or restart my computer, I get a message which says:
I found : Link: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
However, after performing step 3, I get this message: "Your power plan information isn't available. Access is denied."

I am trying to set up the synchronisation/backup program that I use on my desktop/laptop which synchronises my files on my university's servers. In order to connect to my network share I first have to connect to the University VPN. I'd like to automate this in the synchronisation program and what to enter in the box (see screenshot). I'm guessing it would be the same as what I'd enter into the Run dialogue to do the same thing.

I just got a new gpu put into my computer. A few things were changed around in the settings. It boots fine and everything is good. Except my number lock key use to light up during boot and I would just keep hitting delete which is my mobos command to enter bios and it would go in. Now when booting the numberlock key doesn't go on and just pressing delete doesn't work. It just goes straight into my windows login.
My computer works %100 fine and I just need to change 1 thing in the bios but I can't get into the setup. How to get my numberlock on during boot or to get into my bios? I don't even see "hit del to enter bios" at the bottom of the screen anymore. And my numberlock key doesn't even go on during start up until the windows login. I went into my settings and unchecked the fast boot up option in the power settings menu. Nothing has worked yet.

So i just finished successfully building my rig, and everything was fine, I got access to my BIOS on my first boot, didn't really fiddle with many of the settings except for the boot priority and the XMP profile. Once I was done I decided to input my windows 10 cd into my optical drive, I pressed the restart button on my case, and now suddenly my mouse and keyboard (both USB) wont work, thus I cant gain access to my bios or start setting up windows. I tried switching the cables to different usb ports (on the mother board and the case ports) and it didn't do anything.

I have a desktop that I ran the update on from windows 7 up to windows 10. When I go to shutdown on this system it appears to begin the shutdown process. However, after a few moments with black screens and appearing to have shut down, the PC near turns off and shows the BIOS splash screen and begins to start windows up again.
I have tried various troubleshooting options on the internet though only resulting in - a screen every time I "shut down" that tells me that there has been an error and that the computer must restart, even though I was shutting it down in the first place... It also tells me that there is an error named "apple.sys" possibly causing the problem. The computer then restarts fine every time after that point though the only possible way of me shutting the computer down is manually holding the shut down button on my pc case. Then once I power up after that my computer fails to give power to my keyboard and mouse, to which I must then reset the BIOS every single time and then restart. This is the only way I can turn my pc back on after every time I manually power down - resetting the BIOS to bring power to my accessories. I dont really want to keep doing this every single night and plus I figure it must be bad for my pc.
I am now wondering if a clean install is my only option, or if there is some other way of keeping windows 10… just having it work properly.

I had no problem with Windows 7, but now with Win 10 Pro 64bit, when I click on SLEEP it works, UNTIL I switch off the screen or switch off my wifi mouse, then the system gets activated again.
I think I've managed to do it by lining up the pointer with my mouse, switching off the mouse, then the screen and pressing enter - the keyboard light goes out, so I guess it has worked. But who wants to do that every time - even then it usually fails.

I've upgraded my Windows 8.1 Pro (activated with DreamSpark key) to the Windows 10 Build 10162 and then to the latest Build 10240. Now, I want to do PC reset. To complete that, I'll need a installation media, so I've already downloaded ESD of Build 10240 and converted to ISO.
Will my PC stay activated after the reset? Will my PC stay activated when I upgrade to RTM and do clean install via ISO when it's available?

So I have my new system up and running beautifully, and finally I am able to install my favorite game (Sims 2 Ultimate Collection) And I go to play the game, and BAM I get an error message saying security module cannot be activated. I looked farther into this and it turns out michrosoft doesn't support games with SecuROM in win 10. So what the hell. Am I just simply not going to be able to play this game at all? Which really sucks because this is the only system I have and the only way I would ever be able to play it. Is there ANY work around??? Youtube has people playing sims 2 on windows 10, but they give no explanation.

Before windows 10 was out, I was dual booting my system and I had windows 8.1 and windows 10 insider preview on it. So after windows 10 was out, I deleted the windows 10 insider preview partition and did a dirty install over the windows 8.1 (not an upgrade). Skipped product key entry on install and logged in with my Microsoft account (which is also my insider account).
The thing is now, my window 10 shows it's activated but I am not in the insider program ( I have checked in the settings app and I am not in the program). So did Microsoft give it to me for free? because I thought the prerequisite for having a genuine windows 10 is either buying it or being in the windows insider program.
