View 2 RepliesRecently I was getting confused and frustrate that files I were searching for weren't being included in the search results for my queries. It seems that the search parameters are restricted to "Exact word/phrase" and not "Contains.
Example: search "Broad", comes up fine
Search "road", nothing comes up.
In windows 7, I was able to search for a word and the search parameters would include files that "contains" the word in its name and even "contains" the word in a document.
In windows 10, it seems to be completely restricted to.
Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.Whenever I go to load the included Maps app, it tries to load, even showing my local map, before it just shuts down after three seconds.I followed the tutorial to remove apps as show here (I used Powershell - Option #2)Apps - Uninstall in Windows 10
The app uninstalled cleanly and after a quick restart it was gone from my Start Menu.I went to the store and found it again (Windows Maps) and reinstalled.Still no luck - same behavior - it tries to load then shuts down.it works fine on my desktop running the same OS - Pro 64-bit.
I want to load it now. How do I get Google Maps for Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesOnce you download the maps, how do you open them?

View 1 Repliesis there some information about fix to Windows 10 Maps app? On my Surface Pro 4 they aren't render properly. There are no streets, names etc.

View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 running in Bootcamp ( MacOS. I upgraded to Windows 10 pro from Wind 8.1 Pro.
After upgrade I notice that Maps app and Photos app keep launching automatically , even after closing them. I'm not sure what is triggering them.
I have verified that these apps are not in autostart ( msconfig).
I just upgraded from Build 10041 to Build 10061. I downloaded a few maps using 'Systems - Maps' but unable to find where these maps are saved.
This happens to both builds. Where can I find the saved maps.
They should have this in the Maps preview app, but that app has been relegated to nothing. I haven't seen any updates. I guess Microsoft is betting more on web technology. Anyways, here's a fun screenshot that shows off Microsoft's consistency.
View 4 RepliesIn the Reliability Monitor I find 6 'Critical Events' detailed as "Downloaded Maps Manager - stopped working". These events occurred on separate days.
Also in Settings/Updates there is the tick box option to "Download updates for other Microsoft Products" . Tick or untick this option. Would ticking it perhaps result in unwanted extras?
The symptoms below started in the last few days. I've also applied 1511 in the last few days. I can't say for sure whether the effect pre-dates the update or not since I hadn't used Maps much around that time.
Firefox 42.0 now shows the traffic overlay as broken pieces, and for certain broken lines like tunnels and railways it shows junk. This effect is worse with vertically-oriented lines, horizontal ones can look ok.
The image shows Edge on the left and Firefox on the right, showing the same area of Heathrow airport.
Of course this may be due to something else, but I've tried two versions of the graphic drivers (Intel 4600) with no change. I've also flushed the FF cache.
When I open Google Maps, I get the street view photos at the bottom of the screen, but the map itself is a black screen in both street map and satellite settings.
Latest Win10 64 drivers are installed; Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
My Maps app that came with Windows 10 no longer works in Aerial view. It's just blackness with my location dot in the middle. The blackness remains, even when I pan and zoom, but the road/normal layer works fine. I have the most current & up to date OS, Win 10 Home, 10586.36 & new Dell laptop.
View 1 RepliesWe have lot of apps turnings into the live tile when pinned to start in the Windows 10 mobile. Where is the option to turn live tile off for selected apps.
View 1 RepliesDoes the new Maps app being built for the phone and PC features voice turn-by-turn navigation? I know the current Maps app does not. You need to use Here Drive or another third party app for voice navigation.
View 1 RepliesOn some folders the Location tab does not appear. I try to change the location of onedrive folder tab but the location is not displayed.
View 4 RepliesIs there a system file that contains the various new icons found throughout Windows 10 - something along the lines of imageres.dll? It would be nice to use some of these for shortcuts.
View 6 RepliesWhat, if any, is the name and location of the file that hibernates Windows?
I understand that hibernation can be initiated via "shutdown /h" but that's not what I seek.
I use a VPN and Cortana and the OS thinks I'm somewhere else. Is there anyplace to put a zip code to force the OS to think you're in a specific location?
View 2 RepliesI can't change the "Rip Music to this location" in options in Windows Media Player.
View 5 RepliesSomehow, I've managed to set the location for Music & Pictures to the same location i.e. K Drive.
Restoring to default locations makes no difference, or should I say that whatever change I do to Music is replicated in Pictures & visa versus.
How to sort this out.
I know how to set other folder than DOWNLOADS to be the default folder for downloading content from internet using Edge. However, I was wondering if that can be changed all the way so I get to choose download location every single time I download something, or can it be made to work as "save as"?
I download different stuff and I hate going into the downloads folder, and then moving files I want elsewhere..
I just reinstalled Windows 10 (clean). Now I see that I can't turn on Location Services, so I can't use cortana!
If I click on "change" (turn on) in the settings menu, nothing happens.
If I try to open cortana settings, nothing happens as well.
I often see in the notification tray that something is accessing location even though I am not actively using any apps. Can anything other than "apps" access location? The only app I have that has permission to access location in the "Location and Privacy Settings" menu is Cortana.
