View 1 RepliesWhile running the newest Insider build (10532) I do not see an option to customize the Start Menu. What I wanted was when right-clicking and seeing the list having "Devices & Printers" listed as an option. As it is not there, there is also no apparent way to add it...?

Have combined all screenshots into 1 PDF - else the post would be way too big. never uploaded a PDF before.
My 'documents' folder suddenly got moved into another folder named 'Doctor Web.' Looking into this, I find that Doctor Web is a piece of security software originating in Russia, apparently quite respectable, but it's not something I ever installed. According to its properties, the Doctor Web folder was created in 2014, but it wasn't on my computer two days ago when a backup I ran had no errors. Today, it choked on the new folder. I'm attaching a screen grab to illustrate the situation.
My question is, is there some method by which I can move the 'documents' folder from the 'Doctor Web' folder. put it back where it belongs and delete the 'Doctor Web' folder? I have access to all my documents, but I am not at all happy with them being spontaneously moved like this. Al

View 2 RepliesI tried to take screenshots via the WinKey+PrtSc and the Fn+WinKey+PrtSc method. As expected, the screen briefly dimmed and then reestablished normal illumination as you would expect when taking a screenshot with previous Windows OS-es. (No functionality at all apparent via Ctrl+ WinKey+ PrtSc.) When I went to locate the screenshots in C:Users*****Pictures, there was no "Screenshots" folder. I tried searching for the folder and for the screenshots to no avail (though my search skills are rather novice, so I may have missed some obvious way to locate the missing folder). Screenshots will save to the clipboard through the two operable methods above and can be pasted to Paint. I tried visually searching numerous folders and hidden folders for the screenshots, to no avail.
So, I looked in the registry and found:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer
The ScreenshotIndex DWORD value is "3".In Win8, from what I have found trying to understand and solve this issue, you would also find an expandable string at this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUserShellFolders.It required value data which pointed to the pictures folder (%USERPROFILE%PicturesScreenshots). There was no such expandable string value present in my User Shell Folders location. I never had this problem in Windows 8/8.1 and I realize things may be done very differently in Windows 10, so I didn't add the expandable string that the tutorial I was reading referenced in order to to fix this problem in Windows 8.

View 5 RepliesMy recent documents folder contains a mystery folder named CustomDestinations. The files are variable size, in the low kB range. The filenames are undecipherable as far as I can see. Here is a typical one:
5afe4de1b92fc382.customDestinations-ms
Clicking Open With is not instructive, and kind of implies I need to go to the apps store to find something to open them. Can I get rid of them safely?(I use Classic Shell if that may be relevant to the question but the ms suffix kind of tells me no,)
When I create a new folder, I cannot rename it? Is there a magic trick to doing this?

This has been an intermittent problem. Usually disconnect and reconnect fixes it, but not now.

View 1 RepliesI am using Windows 10, and I am trying to copy one folder to another folder using File Explorer. If I click on a file folder, I find that the "Copy to" and "Move to" icons are both greyed out. The only option that I find available is the moving or copying of individual files. I need to move folders with a lot of files and sub-directories in them.

View 9 RepliesI purchased a new hard drive yesterday for the use of nothing but TV and movies. Hard drive works fine, no issues with that. However, a weird issue I'm having is when I moved over my TV and movies from my D: drive to my new drive, the TV folder became, for all intents and purposes, locked.
All my TV is on my new drive and I can view it fine, so that's not an issue. However, for whatever reason, I still have a TV folder on my D drive. As far as I can tell, it's completely empty, but it refuses to delete. I've tried standard deleting, as well as running the CMD prompt as administrator and trying a "del" command, to no avail.
If I attempt to open it, it opens a dialogue box with the title Location Not Available, and it reads "D:TV is not available, access is denied."
If I try to delete it normally, it says I need admin access, which I provide, and then it says access denied anyway.
If I view the security properties, it says I don't even have permission to read the properties of the file.
When I try to delete the remaining folder after uninstalling a software in Program Files I get a message: "You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder", although I'm the administrator.
View 9 RepliesI change the name of one folder, from this moment I can't open the folder. I reciver the announcement with the path and that "the folder is not accessible. Access is denided."If i clik right click > properties, I see 0 bytes inside, but I know that there are a lot of files inside. In the security tab there is " You must have read permission to view the properties. Click Advanced to continue" but when I click Advanced, there is no possibility to change anything..No matter what i click, the message appears again..I tryed to take ownership but nothing..

View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded my windows 7 ultimate copy to Win 10 pro (64 bit) and with the upgrade i lost the most beloved tweak that i was using earlier in Win 7. And that is the ability to have custom backgrounds on folders instead of plain white ones.
The Ave Folder actually works but only when the properties boxwindows is opens up for any folder. The properties box has the custom new tab called "folder background" and i think this is why it activates the feature for a brief time until i decide to close the box. Closing the properties windowox then disables it and i then lose my folder background.
I have one or two Folders that I just cannot seem to get to appear on my Desktop. They show in the Files listing just fine, the way they should. Nothing that I can think of is anything special about them.
Also, in their Path, the last item is Desktop. If I create a shortcut, and put the shortcut on the Desktop, clicking on it works just fine. So, I imagine that they certainly should ?
I have just formatted my PC last Monday, and i have installed drivers and Steam and American Truck Simulator. I know that my saves and mods are in My Documents folder and ATS loads still fine after the folder is missing.
When I go to C:Usersdrfee there is a folder called Documents, but there is nothing in it, but where have My Documents folder gone? And yes hidden items is checked.
I have read elsewhere that installing Windows 10 top of Windows 7 results in a windows.old folder, which does seem to exist on my computer.
Instead, I have, on the desktop, a folder, Windows 7, which seems to contain many of the files, etc., perhaps all such data, that were in Windows 7, such as all of the folders under Documents. I just looked at Documents in the Windows 7 folder, which even shows a file that I put into Documents in Windows 10 on 3August2015. In fact, looking at the folder,it looks just like what I see when I use the Windows 10 File Explorer from the icon on the task bar.
Just upgraded to windows 10.....
