I know that in this case I need also to know what is the primary display or how to get only the primary display value because I want to get the value that set only for the primary display..The key "LogPixels" in HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop Is no longer relevant for me in Windows 10.
In build 10240 I can download a Danish language pack in Settings. However I can't set it as primary... How to do this?

View 2 RepliesToday, I tried to remove my old windows 7 (installed in drive D), dual booted with window 10.
However, I couldn't remove it because it was a System, Active, and Primary Partition.
And my Default Windows 10 drive C was Boot, Page file, Crash Dump, and Logical Drive (as shown in the picture)
Noticed this #2 partition, (128MB), on my lappy, is it serving any purpose? Best way to include it in the C: partition
View 9 RepliesI currently I have W8.1 which is running on a HDD. For Windows 10, I am upgrading to a SSD for my OS, some programs, etc. Thing is, I want to keep my HDD for a storage drive. It has many pictures, videos, songs, etc that I want to keep. Problem is, it is currently loaded with Windows 8.1 and some programs that I would also put on the SSD. How do I just get rid of Windows from it to make it my storage drive? Do I need to? Should I just get a second HDD entirely and find a way to move my pictures, video, songs, etc to it?

How to set up my new hard drive as the primary for installed applications, such as games. I would still like to use the SSD for my more necessary applications, but want the hard drive for large files. I am on windows 10 btw
View 1 RepliesAfter I free upgraded from 8.1 to 10 a new partition showed up. I just deleted it and it became unallocated space.
How can I merge this space with my primary partition. Both are on a 256 SSD.
When I right click C: in disk management, the extend volume choice is grayed.
I have four primary partitions (System, C: , D: , E: ) and some free space in my Win10 laptop. Now, I want to make create an extended partition which will hold C, D & E as logical partition. How can I do it without loosing data (i don't have a spare hard disk where I can backup the data).
View 6 RepliesMy task bar is locked and located on the right-hand side of my second monitor. Occasionally I'll go for it and realize that it is now located on the right-hand side of my primary monitor. Most recently this happened after bringing my computer back from screensaver.
View 7 RepliesWith the new W10 email client, either with my main account or a second Outlook account, it always picks a random alias for the 'From' address when creating a new email. In the web mail settings I have each account set to send from its primary address and W8 PCs Windows mail clients have an option to choose the used email address.
Where is the setting in W10 and how do I get this under control? This can't be an issue for most as the forums would be full of it. What am I messing up here? The email app is currently useless to me.
So I recently formatted my Windows 8.1 system and installed Windows 10. But it seems that the setup decided to set my System parition to a separate HDD (G: ) and put the bootmgr and all the boot files there, instead of using the left-over 350MB System Reserved partition on my primary SSD that Windows 8.1 had used. So of course now if I removed that disk, I wouldn't be able to boot anymore.
So what'll be the best way to move all of the boot files and system partition setting back to my old 350MB System Reserved partition? Will I need to disconnect all the other drives and do a repair install of Windows 10? Or can I manually move the files and partition settings over? The old partition is still marked as Active, so maybe I can just move all the Boot related files from G: to the 350MB partition and it'll just work? Maybe mark G: as INACTIVE too
Anyway, a while ago, I was playing with booting installations from a HDD, which worked, but now it seems I'm stuck with the partition I used to store the installation on.
So I have two questions:
1. To delete the H partition, I need to first set the C one to active, correct?
2. Is it even safe to delete the partition since it's a "system" partition?
The H partition is empty as far as general files go, but since it's bootale, it always shows up as a boot option, which is mildly annoying.

View 9 RepliesI currently have a PC that is running Windows 8.1. I have a 120GB SSD as the primary drive ( C: ) with the OS and a few programs installed on it. I also have a 750GB HDD ( D: ) installed in the computer. Over the past year and a half, I've installed some programs to the SSD and some to a folder on the HDD. I plan on updating this computer to Windows 10. To do that though, I was planning on wiping the SSD and doing a fresh install to it and just reinstalling any programs. My question is if there will be any issues regarding the programs installed on the HDD. I'm guessing some of them probably still have certain files installed on the SSD and that wiping it will mess up those programs.
I'm also wondering what a good way of installing programs to a secondary drive is for the future. I'd like to install some programs to the secondary drive without worrying about certain files still existing on the SSD while still being able to install some programs to the SSD itself. This way if updating in the future, I wouldn't have to worry about this issue. Let me know if this makes sense and if I need to clarify something.
I noticed we had updates automatically installed today. The next thing I noticed was that when working in Excel if I didn't move the mouse within one minute the display turned off. After trying a few other programs I realize that it turns off after a minute in almost all my programs or even when I'm just reading a newspaper. If this is something from the latest updates? I never experienced this before. In fact, it just turned off while I was mulling over this post.

I have an HP Envy 700 which is an i7-4790, 24GB RAM, with an NVidia GeForce GTX 745 graphics card (4GB RAM). The max resolution I can see is 1920x1080, but per this site, I should be able to get a much higher resolution.

I just got a new system , I always had in power options in control panel to "DIM THE DISPLAY" and now in win 10 there is no option to dim the display .. I thought it had to do with the Nvida driver .. or something like that
View 6 RepliesSo my laptop was purchased in China which came with authentic windows 8.1. I recently upgraded to windows 10 through official pop up notification. However after trying all means I couldn't alter the display language.In the settings-region and language-language-add a language/I am able to add any language in here but when I click options in one of the added language, there's no option of "download language pack" as many tutorials on internet.I have tried under English (United Kingdom) "set language as primary" but after restart, nothing's changed . Still display Chinese.
In control panel-add a language-options-windows display language/Again there's no option of setting a new language as display language, it says under windows display language "not available in this version of Windows" (something like this, I did the translation).I can add or change input keyboard without problem.The version of windows currently in my laptop is "Windows 10 Home Chinese Version" (something like this, again I did the translation). Is this the reason I can't change display language?
Having weird display issues on my Laptop running Windows 10 - Pictures and videos look a bit pixelated at times.
All drivers updated and windows updates have been installed.
OK, so the latest of my problems with Win10, I just got done repairing a Winsock file missing issue, after the reboot the "volume" icon doesn't appear at bottom right any more. Volume works fine, and I can adjust it elsewhere, but it will not display. System settings won't let me switch it on. Battery icon and external drive icons are gone too. I don't want to just keep rebooting on the off chance that all the problems will solve themselves.
Why Win10 programmers thought this OS is good. It's a complete crock. Random problems are pretty literally non-stop. I assumed it was supposed to be an improvement from Win7.

So I just finished installing windows 10 and I'm having this issue where my display driver isn't being recognized and instead its now showing "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Is there any way to bring back the old driver to its original resolution?
I have a Dell Inspiron N7110 and it seems like all the drivers are only compatible with Windows 8.1, how can I bypass that?
Also, another issue is that Windows Troubleshooter doesn't work. When I click on "Show more" it says that "Context: Restricted".
I have a computer with the following configuration: i5 4460, ASRock B85M-DGS, 8Gb ram HyperX, Sapphire Radeon R7 265 Dual-X (with latest video drivers 15.7.1), SSD Kingston v300 120GB, windows 10 with latest updates and my display is LED Samsung LT22D390 22 inch. Every day, about 5 minutes after I turn on the computer, my display is turning off and turning on after I click the mouse. I put in power options "turn off display" to never but nothing changed. On windows 8.1 I don't have this issue.
View 9 RepliesUsing the same settings and programs as in my 8.1 installation. Nothing funny, or game-related running in the background (also tried disabling everything possible). The problem is that the monitor will not turn off, either from the Power/Display power-off options (nothing happens after set time passes), or with a program like ScreenOff and Monitor Off.
Using one of these apps, will start turning the monitor off, but it will turn itself back on automatically almost immediately. Something is interfering but I cannot figure out what. No security software installed (using Defender, tried disabling it). The only way this works as intended, is in Safe Mode.
The title says everything. I rebuilt the index, moved it to another disk, rebuilt again without any result: no results in the search window.
Cortana is off and web searching is off. Even if web searching is on, there are no search results in the window.
This has never happened in any other Windows version since Windows 3.1 for Workgroups!
I have a Toshiba Satellite (P755-S5215) and the resolution is "squeezed" ... from top to bottom. In addition, I cannot change the resolution. I currently have a "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" showing in Device Manager.
Should I get the latest Intel Display driver from the Toshiba Support site? ... which is from 2013 and just over 300 mb (why so large)?
