How To Get Rid Of Lines Under Every Task Bar Button
Jul 29, 2015I don't like them because they shrink the icon size and when I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen where the red arrow is and click it doesn't register.

View 5 RepliesGot my Win 10 at the lauch day and have been enjoying it until I decided to do some clean up. I ran Ccleaner and Puran utilities reg cleaning tools. After that the start button and task bar became unresponsive.
I tried to google the issue and found out a sort of a solution, but it's not good enough to be permanent. This was that fix:
Right click on the Start Menu button and open Command Prompt (Admin)Enter PowerShell in the command linePaste the following line in the Administrator:
PowerShell Window:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml}
Wait for the PowerShell to execute the command (ignore a few red error codes).
I'm also having problems with updates which seems to be failing everytime. I was hoping the updates would fix the first problem, but since the updates won't istall, I can't know if they would.
So now I'm thinking about fully resetting the install, but since I don't have external hard drive, I wouldn't want to go that far with this.
I downloaded Windows 10 several hours ago. Nothing in the lower task bar will open. When I left click on the start button, nothing happen. When I right click, I get a menu but nothing will open. When I click in the "Search" area, no cursor appears. I don't know how to get to my pictures or documents.
Why is my start button (or anything else in lower task bar) not working?
Also - I use Avast security protection. Since I downloaded Windows 10, my firewall is turned off with Avast. I clicked a button to turn it on, but I am not being allowed to do so. Do I need to change something in the Windows 10 settings. First I need to learn how to pull up the settings since the start button is not working.
My wife's machine, she has an 'action' button and 'action' panel on her 'task scheduler' window.There is no 'action' button on my 'task scheduler' window.Neither is there an 'action' panel on the right side of my 'task scheduler' window.
View 9 RepliesFor the second time in a row after an update my start button and task bar have stopped working. I downloaded a batch file from a forum site the last time and it worked, so i used it again. My system is now working again. As this appears to be an issue that Microsoft cannot resolve I am now going to turn off automatic updates.
View 9 RepliesI have recently upgraded to Windows 10 Home (64bit) from Windows 7 Home (64bit). I am having problems that I cannot find a fix to in the common faults section. As in the title, my start button is not working. The action center, settings and task manager are not working also. Other problems I am having are: I cannot open a new user account, I cannot log into my guest account or one of my main accounts and I cannot log into cmd as administrator by right clicking on it in the task bar. I have tried to fix the start menu my opening powershell as administrator and pasting some code into it, but it did not work.
View 2 RepliesI have upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had problems going into and out of sleep mode which seem have been resolved by installing updates for Intel Graphics. Now I can't get anything to come up when I left click on the Start button. All of the other icons in the task bar will only work with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens with a right click. Also, I did not get Cortana when I upgraded to Windows 10 on this device. I also upgraded another lap top and have Cortana on that one. With all of these problems occurring one after the other, can I reinstall Windows 10?
View 14 RepliesI have a new Christmas Windows 10 Laptop and it goes to vertical gray lines with a 1" colored block on the screen with the gray lines. I can not get my screen back unless I do a hard power shut down. I did all the current Windows updates on laptop. I then put the full version of AVG on the laptop. It continues to go to the vertical gray lines after a short time of use. I am plugged in to 110 AC and haven't use the battery setting as yet.
View 3 RepliesAs the title says, my mouse cursor is behaving strangley, it has lines going through it and has enlarged itself. I've not modified anything in the cursor options, I've even click on default settings, restarted my PC ect and it's still not reverting. The strange thing is, if I log out of Windows, the cursor goes back to normal, but as soon as I log back in
It used to look like this:
Whereas it now looks like this:
Alright, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro shortly after it released. By upgraded, I mean performed a clean install.
More or less, the computer has worked fine for the weeks since. Now, for the past 2 days, I have been unable to use it because at startup the computer's keyboard and mouse turn off, and the screen displays broken lines of pixelated green, pink, and blue. (To be clear, I make it into and/or past the BiOS totally fine)
I don't have many support options due to the fact this PC was put together by me. So, to that end, my specs are:
MSI Z87-G45 mobo
Intel i7-4770k (no overclocking at present)
NVIDIA GTX 760
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD (have reinstalled Windows 10 solely on this, still producing the same errors)
[Random Thermaltake something something] 750W gold-rated PSU
Corsair h100 series liquid cooling
As I said, everything had been working fine. Then I put the computer to sleep, and when I returned the next day, the screen flashed white fuzziness. On restarting from that, the colored lines are all that happens. I am able to boot into safe mode. That is another weird thing, the colored lines (and keyboard/mouse power off) don't happen until after I go through the bios screen, and see the initial Windows 10 loading screen, then they shut off, and the screen turns to the lines within 20 seconds after.
I'm pretty lost. I'm assuming since I can force it into safe mode (at that split second when I have the windows 10 load screen), the problem is lying with hardware. I have confirmed all wiring is correct, dust is clear, and everything looks/sounds as it should. The only thing that was happening before this was that I would get intermittent "Nvidia kernal has stopped working, but has recovered" notifications popping up. As I type this I'm sort of realizing my graphics card must be done.
When I open Windows 10 File Explorer from the Task Bar and choose Home, Share or View, the resulting ribbon covers the top few lines of the opened folder or files. How can I cause the ribbon to "bump" down the folder so that I can see the top few lines?
View 2 RepliesSince I started using Windows 8, I used a custom all in one context menu with separator lines between the subcommands menu items, but with Windows 10 the separator lines doesn't show at all.
View 3 RepliesI've had a problem with windows 10 and my acer PC with an AMD chipset. I constantly have black horizontal lines flickering across my screen. It is worse when running games or Chrome.
I've had this problem before in Ubuntu when I tried using proprietary drivers instead of the default open source ones.
I didn't have this problem before I upgraded from windows 7 sp1.
It doesn't stop me using the PC but is rather annoying ^^.
I would attach a screenshot but I can't seem to get a line in a screenshot
PC: Acer aspire 7750g with internal SSD and HDD
Graphics hardware: AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M graphics chipset.
Driver version: 15.20-150715a-184226E driver with CCC version 2015.0715.2138.37093
I am looking for a text editor which will allow me to take multiple lines from one text file (I also have the information in a spreadsheet) and will then replace then lines in another line of that document.
I am trying to make a list for my books and comics.
<Book Series="{name}" Number="{no.}" Volume="{year}" </Book>
<Book Series="{name}" Number="{no.}" Volume="{year}" </Book>
For the comics it would need to replace the above format so;
<Book Series="{Batman}" Number="{01}" Volume="{2011}" </Book>
I have my Windows 10 for around 3 days now, the thing is, in the second day after my computer froze when i was playing counter strike, everything in the task bar but my shortcuts stopped working, they dont open anymore, but when i click it, the cursor blue loading circle shows up but nothing happens.
View 1 RepliesI just did a clean install on W10 and change my bios to UEFI (which it supports.) I'm having this intermittent problem with the Windows "Start" Button in the lower left. It just stops working - left clicking doesn't do anything, although right-clicking does. I just have the basics installed now.
Also, my Windows "Start" key on my keyboard stops working as well. I checked on a keyboard checker and the key itself is fine. I have to log out/back in to get it to work again.
I have set up a scheduled task called its time and every time I try to run it here is what comes up. I am using Win 10 and have plenty of ram 12GB.
Here is message in attachment.
It has worked in past with Win7. But no go in Win10?? I'm not sure I did the image correct. And I don't know how to attach a document.
Upgraded from 8.1, finished installing all W10 updates and I was looking in the App History tab in Task Manager and I saw this :
I need to say that I checked for updates in the Store App and it downloaded 2 updates for 2 unknown apps, as there wasnt a name and picture so I could identify those specific apps.
i switched from windows 10 to windows 7 and now on my main monitor i have a taskbar but on the other i dont ? why
View 1 Repliesthe task manager always states that my CPU is at 100% and various applications are using a huge amount of power. Sometimes it'll say skype is using 54%, other times chrome same thing, sometimes even jumping to 70%. But coretemp reads perfectly normal 15% on cpu or roughly that. Some things to note, I only noticed it after installing drivers for my elgato HD60 pro, and while using skype, starting a screen share would stop the glitch for a while. So needless to say, I'm not sure what it is. It could not be the drivers because that's only when I noticed it.
Oh, I should also note that I have re installed windows 10 about 4 times to come to the same problem. Checked malware and everything. Official ISO from media tool as well.
In windows 10, when i left click the start menu (the little 4 boxes on bottom left) search bar, anything on the right side like time and date/sound/ network, etc nothing opens up at all.
EDIT: IF I SWITCH MY SEARCH BAR TO A ICON AND LEFT CLICK IT AND PUT IT BACK TO NORMAL MY SEARCH BAR WORKS BUT NOTHING ELSE. AND I HAVE TRIED THIS COMMAND TO FIX IT BUT IT DID NOT WORK Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"} INSTEAD IT MADE MY WINDOWS STORE HAVE NO ICON AND IT CRASHES WHEN I OPEN IT AND FOR SOME REASON THE NAME OF THE WINDOWS STORE IS SOME WEIRD CODING STARTING WITH
sfc /scannow found nothing and i cant right click any programs like firefox, if i rightclicked it in the toolbar nothing pops up.
Is there a way to put a shortcut on the taskbar that would perform a shutdown when clicked? And another one that would perform a restart?
View 4 RepliesI can pin items to the taskbar but when I right click on an item I can't unpin. Only had this problem with 10240.
View 8 RepliesWhen I access Task Scheduler, an error appears that says SqmUpload_S-1-5-21......... no longer exists. To see the current tasks, click Refresh. However, the same message appears when I click Refresh. I can close the message and it appears the Task Scheduler is OK. A person on the Microsoft boards gave me several steps to follow beginning with booting into Safe Mode. However, I received a message when I accessed Task Scheduler that it doesn't function in Safe Mode.
View 2 RepliesI have run into a small issue were the icons on the taskbar such as, wifi, battery, sound, and action center will not do anything when clicked, when i click the time it wont open the calendar, if i right click sound and battery i can open it that way but when i right click action centre and click open action centre it wont do anything.
Now my start button wont work.
Seems it was my anti virus causing the issues.
