View 1 RepliesUpgraded to Win 10 a couple of months ago on Toshiba laptop. All was well until about 3 weeks or so ago, after an OS update. Windows will still startup to the desktop however a couple of seconds after the desktop screen appears, the default browser (Firefox in this case but did not matter which one is checked as default - have Edge, Chrome and FireFox) opens to an MSN homepage. Not really a HUGE problem as I can click and close it out but it is just an annoying issue. Have been virtually everywhere in the system and cannot find anything that will stop this. Have checked plugins, searched for malware, looked at task and startup manager and can find nothing that will stop.
View 3 RepliesI updated my OS to windows 10 (from windows 7) about 2 months ago. I hadn't had any issues until last night when I performed a prompted restart for a windows update. The computer restarted and was booting back up, all appeared normal. I left the room and came back a few minutes later to check on the progress, and the computer was still booting up.
Eventually it loaded all the way to the desktop, and after a long while the application icons became visible on the desktop. Application icons never became available on the task bar, and when I hovered my mouse cursor over any area of the task bar it showed the "loading circle" (as opposed to a normal mouse pointer). I can't open any applications, and will get a message along the lines of 'Application is not responding. Do you want to wait for the application?'. I've tried a simple restart, but get back to the exact same place.
So, Win 10 has just completed a routine update, (that is Windows 10 updating itself through win updater - not updating to Windows 10 from an earlier version) and now the classic desktop has gone, and has been replaced by the Windows 8 style (the one with live tiles and so on).
How to change this back - before windows 10 updated itself my desktop was fine - I just want the classic style back with normal icons and so on (if that makes sense!). I can't see any options for it.
Typical, as soon as I post this I manage to get it working again!! Windows had switched itself to tablet mode somehow (why it did that on a laptop.....!). So switching that off in settings returns everything to normal.
Tablet Mode - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
PC hang when I load it after the last update. The desktop is showed and PC start to load item from the toolbar ( the one next the clock). 2 application are loaded then system is hanged. Cursor is displaying a small circle and that it
I could load PC in safe mode.
PC has 3 hard drive.
I did the chkdsk and SFC /scannow on each drive, No error found
Win 10 diagnostic report error found, but when I look in the Event manager, I don't see what is the problem.
Desktop Icon Positions Not Saving after connecting to TV with hdmi cable.
This happened after install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update.
I have a problem with a Windows 10 store on my desktop PC. This is not a phone.
I have the latest build 10240 with all of the updates installed. The last few updates installed over last night and then my Store app stopped working.
I searched reddit and found some similar problem: [URL] ....
The thing was that when I tried to open the Store app this morning I've got a message: Before you can shop, we need to update the Store. I then pressed Update button and then It tries to update the Store app.
But then it just says Pending and it doesn't do anything for the whole day now. I think there must be some other applications waiting for an update and they all got stuck. How to open the store?
I have a problem with windows 10 desktop icons after installing some update. My desktop icons cannot be rearranged on my own and its pretty annoying. Auto arrange option is unchecked.
View 1 RepliesI did a Windows Update 3-4 days ago ever since my desktop background goes black at random. It also goes black if I click a desktop icon or if I use the highlight tool on my mouse. When I was doing the update it got stuck on restarting and I had to force shutdown my computer. I was thinking about using system restore.
View 1 RepliesRecently my PC just started to have some weird problem. Everytime after I restarted my PC or just restarted explorer.exe, my desktop icon reset from small size to medium and sorting order also reset. Besides I also noticed that in every folder view settings also reset.
The reason why I suspected it caused by one of the updates because I just formatted my PC. Everything was normal in the beginning but after I updated the windows. The exact problem came back.
A few weeks back on my Surface Pro 3, I was able to view my desktop and have the tablet style on screen keyboard popup in text fields. Now if I'm in desktop mode, windows does not load the tablet style on screen keyboard when touching an input box and the keyboard icon is gone from the systray. If I'm in tablet mode, the keyboard works like it should, but I'm not able to click on a show desktop icon somewhere. Is there a way to be able to see my desktop *and* use the tablet style keyboard that auto-pops up?
Also in chrome, I am unable to click anything except the X button to close it. So far I'm regretting my upgrade to windows 10!
I recently received the Windows 10 download on a desktop PC. The installation seemed to be going swimmingly however desktop suddenly powered off. Upon reboot, I'm stuck in a vicious failure loop. I tried to restore to no avail and tried to boot Windows 7 from a physical disk, but no matter what I try it appears my desktop PC is history. It ran Windows 7 just fine. I really wish I hadn't pushed my luck with Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI have a Samsung RV511 and have recently tried to upgrade from win 7 to win 10. Everything goes smoothly until the restart after everything is downloaded. My laptop restarts and then hangs on the win 10 logo.
I tried restarted and win 7 loads up and im greet with this message once I log on: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation.
I have a Sabertooth 990FX motherboard. This isn't the first time I've installed Windows 10 on this computer (I was having issues with a corrupted operating system before, so I've reinstalled Windows several times). Basically, I managed to get Windows 10 to install successfully with no corruption issues. I went into the BIOS to check some sleep settings since a new problem is that my computer won't sleep since Windows 10 was installed, and while I was in there, I enabled a USB 3.0 fast charging feature and since then, every other time that I boot the computer, it shuts off a few seconds after the Windows logo displays, but before the loading circle even shows up.
Then I turn the computer back on again manually and it boots. But after I shut it down and the next time I try to boot it, it will do the same thing and shut off and then I will have to turn it on again manually and it will work. I went back and changed the settings back to their defaults, even flashed the BIOS to the latest version and the problem hasn't resolved. Is it possible the motherboard is now dead because I changed a simple setting? I get no error messages, no warnings, nothing when the computer boots successfully.
I restarted my PC after my screen blanked out in a game I was playing after changing the resolution. Then when I boot my PC, the Windows logo appears, the loading thing starts rotating, then it black screens and my monitor displays some text saying "no video avaliable".The only thing I can think of is hard drive corrupted as, whilst running, my PC almost tipped over, but I stopped it.
I will try boot the PC with another hard drive to test my theory
So it started this morning:
I turned on my pc and it froze right after it passed the Blue windows logo screen. A black screen appeared with no cursor.
I rebooted the pc (through the reset button) and everytime it got stuck at the black screen and then rebooted on its own. After a few rounds of black screen and reboots, I got the advanced repair options but it couldn't repair anything.
A very few times that it did manage to go boot and go to the desktop, it froze and didn't let me open any files or folders. Also when I mouse over the files, a black box appears around the icons and the file names appear garbled
I haven't installed anything lately that might cause this to happen.
on my dell laptop I installed windows 10 perfectly fine. I then did a restart of the laptop but every time I turn the laptop on the dell logo shows up and then...... Nothing. Just a black screen. how to fix?
View 2 RepliesIs there currently any know way to change the windows 10 boot logo? I have searched around and found nothing.
View 9 RepliesI have installed windows 10 on my computer a month ago and it worked well , but now i have a problem : the pc load , windows 10 logo appears then black screen and the cursor appears ... I havn't changed anything in my configuration nor installed any new software and no upgrade ..
View 14 RepliesI downloaded windows 10 ISO(I purchased it) file and created bootable DVD and USB using Rufus. I want to install windows 10 in one of the system which had corrupted windows 7 in SSD(No data or nothing is required)
My system config is below
Intel i5(4th gen)
Gigabyte H87 D3H(which has UEFI) and flashed to version 9
Nvidia 9400 GT(driver not updated but the site listing says it is compatible with win 10)
8GB RAM
SSD(60 GB, which has corrupted win 7)
HDD(500 GB)
Believe I have the minimum system requirement to install Windows 10?After selecting cd/dvd/usb, windows 10 logo appears(without any spinning dots, just plain logo) and get stuck there. I waited for 1-2 hour but nothing happened. I searched and some of them have suggested to remove components and keep only bare minimum. So I tried removing GFX card and the HDD, and kept only SSD(default changed to IGFX).
But even then it doesnt move forward from the windows logo screen. how to move this installation further? Any debugging options? Anything I am missing here? I purchased it and hence I dont want to waste the money I spent on it.I checked in BIOS and I can confirm that Fast boot is disabled or Data Execution Prevention and/or similar options are enabled.
To confim whether my bootable DVD/USB had some errors in initiating setup, I tried running setup.exe within my friends machine(win 7) and it is launching and giving me screens to download updates and/or to enter product key. Images attached which gives indication that setup is launching.
But when I try to run the setup as bootable DVD/USB I get the blue logo screen and nothing happens.(even no spinning dots below logo and/or errors to share) Refer Image - Win10_Bootable_DVD.jpg
When i boot my pc up, it can successfully go into bios, but once it reaches the windows logo where there is usually a loading indicator underneath it, it freezes. the loading indicator is not there, it seems that my usb ports quit working (my keyboard and mouse stop lighting up).
I've been having this problem for quite a while now ever since i upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 however i was able to successfully do a usb boot and wipe my hard drive and install windows over again, and I've been completely fine for about a month now, but the same thing is happening again.
I am guessing it is a corrupt windows file but i find it odd that its recurring even after i did a total wipe. Also I ordered a new ssd (500gb samsung 850 evo) to replace my current hdd, maybe that will fix this problem? I am also planning on upgrading my cpu, mobo, ram, and gpu soon. i will leave my current pc specs below.
cpu- AMD Phenom II x4 955
mobo- Biostar TA790 GX 128m
gpu - Zotac GTX 560 1gb 256 bit DDR5
ram - 2x2gb DDR2
I have not found any problems similar to this online. to make things clearer, i cannot get my pc to do a complete boot at all. it always freezes on the same screen, the only way i can get out of it is to do a force shutdown. I am starting to think that perhaps the problem may be my video card? also i do not have any spare parts or other computers to switch parts and test unfortunately.
After doing multiple things to find a fix (swapping ram slots, unplugging hdd and gpu and plugging back in, etc.) while on the frozen windows logo screen i unplugged my mouse and keyboard, plugged them back in, hit the restart button on my pc, and.. it started up? now i have noticed lag-like performances with my mouse (razer deathadder chroma) its as if it loses connection for a split second and the lights on it will simultaneously flash. the mouse is only a month or two old and i do not remember if i had problems with my old mouse.
I have just plugged it into a usb port that is on the side of my pc instead of plugging it into one of the back ones. I will update with if needed for the "lag" however i am still concerned with why exactly it froze like that during boot up. im not going to shut down my computer until i know what the problem was and how to fix it. ill just keep it in a low power setting when i am not using it.
Yesterday morning the PC worked fine. Last night it refused to load Windows (10) but rather froze on the logo, with the whirly loader. Forced shut down, tried again, same deal. Next time it said "Starting Windows repair", but froze. Next time it said it too, and the next time it didn't. It hasn't said it since. I left it sitting on the frozen screen for about a half an hour, and it gave an error message "Boot disk inaccessible". Unhooked everything, reset CMOS, checked BIOS, reseated memory, ran memory diagnostics, etc..
So I put in a brand spanking new SSD assuming the old one was to blame (as it had become a bit sluggish anyway, being a few years old and all) and went to install new Windows from an official USB stick. And up comes Windows logo and the whirly loading thingy.... and it freezes. I just don't know what to do anymore.
My basic specs:
CPU - 5960X
MOBO: ASUS Rampage V Extreme
GPU: GTX 980
I turn my computer on, see the BIOS just fine, it shows the Windows 10 logo, then a black screen. If I move my mouse around, I see the cursor. After nearly 30 seconds (i'm guessing), my computer reboots itself, and the cycle repeats.
My motherboard is kind of funky. By pressing F8, it actually goes into a BIOS menu that allows me to select which device I want to boot from, instead of going to Safe Mode. This is what I'd like to do, actually, so I can choose my last known good configuration.
Is there any other way to get to this screen to choose my last known good configuration, can I use a USB flash drive and boot to it to get to a repair screen or what course of action should I take?
When i start the laptop it stops at the dell logo and does nothing till the time i dont press a key. After pressing a key it starts log in.
View 1 RepliesI get a windows logo on start up that has a circle spinning below it and it does that for about 2 minutes ...
View 9 Repliescomputer always crashes after windows logo , after restarting for 3-4 times, sometimes even 6-7 times the system works normally, it doesn't crash after that, have added the dump files.DESKTOP-9P2CR59-06-09-2015_110256_42.zip
