In the opposite way of how the system handles me trying to delete an EXE file, now the system just goes ahead and deletes without the standard idiot box asking me if I am sure I want to delete the file. This is quite dangerous as the Delete menu item on the context menu can sometimes be actuated accidentally, without me even knowing about it!

View 9 RepliesWhen i press Shift+Delete to delete any file, it doesn´t do anything except maybe 10 beeps, its the sound it makes for example when asking for something or some pop-up windows like that. Also when I try this, like at this moment, when writing this in Chrome (which is pretty hard, because of the following things), it does weird things like typing random numbers, deleting the text, skipping the like if I pressed the arrows or enter button, also it was going back in browsing, all by itself. It happens more after when I press Backspace or Delete.
I don´t know what is happening, can´t believe this is a Windows function i don´t know about or if I should be worried about my keyboard or maybe even a virus. (I am not using any downloaded antivirus).
I've tried instruction after instruction and cannot delete a file. It's from a programme called Solidworks, and is left in the programme file called 3ds Light.otf.
I've tried deleting in Safe mode
Using deleting/unlocking utlities File Assassin and Unlocker
Disabled protection of C drive
Used Security Task manager
So far nothing is working.
I've ran into these before on previous versions of Windows, usually a file that has too long of a name or so it says but basically is just a corrupted file and I use WinRAR rename the file and delete it. But this file in particular I cannot get rid of. It was originally a jpeg, and when I went to rename it for deletion the file then became a blank file, no extension just a letter I put for the name. The file cannot be found by anything it seems, even the command prompt method of deletion gives me the same message. "Could not find this item. Verify the location." Which is weird because the command prompt does show the file in the directory but gives me that error when I try to delete it.

I've noticed that file extensions are not shown when I display the files in a folder. For example I have a folder containing html files, and all that appears is e.g. Chapter00 when it should show Chapter00.html, ebook shows when it should show ebook.css, content shows when it should show content.opf, and Jane Eyre shows when it should show Jane Eyre.epub. Strangely enough toc.ncx shows as it should.
I've been through all the settings folders I can think of. How do I make Windows 10 show the file extensions as they were shown in Windows 7?
I think I downloaded a .reg file from internet that created double system folders in my computer but I can't remember. They seem to be an extra music, videos, documents, pictures and downloads folder but I cannot put any files in the folder. How to delete them? There's also a strange name in address bar when I open one of the folders. Also, when I click start and then click a folder liek videos folder then nothing happens.
View 2 RepliesThere are 3 boxes that refer to Win 10 installation and when you try to delete them it says you will not be able to go back to your previous OS.It is substantial space as I believe one box contains something like x amount of GB's.I have imaged Win 10 so I think could delete them but isn't it more likely I should keep them in case I need to go back and an image failed? Is it subjective or is there a rule of thumb regarding this issue?
View 2 RepliesI just installed windows 10 onto my first SSD (Made it my master drive) and i'd like to delete every file and folder on my old HDD except the one in which all my games are installed (Not program files its a folder labeled "Games" in the root directory).
But I keep needing permission from "SYSTEM" Or "TrustedInstaller" to remove them. Do i have to use the "take Ownership" Regedit to do it? or is there some faster way?..
Also i do not have another drive to move the games to that would allow me to format the HDD.
I can't delete any folders from my system drive C: Keep getting error code "1 interrupted action" Invalid MS-DOS function. I have gone in and checked all my security settings and I have full permissions for everything. I get this error code no matter which folder I try to delete. It's as all files are locked. Can't even drag and drop to the desktop to try removing them that way.

I have already backed up and transferred all the files I wanted to keep from that old version and wish to delete that file and all that is in it. But it seems not to allow me to do that. View 9 RepliesI want to delete the windows old folder in windows 10 as its hogging up quite a bit of space, only upgraded windows 8 to 10 a few days ago.
However it wont let me, I have tried disk cleanup and tried to delete the windows old folder, but it tells me I don't have permission to delete this folder, and if I try again it says that I need permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder.
Is there a way to boot into Win 10 in a safe mode? The reason I ask is I am having trouble in normal mode trying to get rid of my win.old file. It will let me delete some of it but not all. So maybe in safe mode I can delete it all or am I missing something here?

View 6 RepliesI have recently updated my desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For some reason, File explorer seems unable to show metadata. For example, here is what File Explorer shows for one example powerpoint file:
I created this file on this same desktop before the upgrade, and it has a bunch of metadata including category, subject, author, etc. Since it's in a google drive folder, I can compare this with what I see on my Win10 laptop:
As you can see, the file itself has a full complement of metadata, it's just not showing up properly in File Explorer on my desktop.
I'd like to figure out what setting is incorrect on my desktop that's causing this, if possible. I should add that all of this information showed up correctly in the Windows 7 details pane on the desktop before I upgraded, so I presume it's a setting that somehow got changed during the upgrade.
