View 8 RepliesI'm trying to rollback to Win7 after Win10 update. I've got some hardware that I want to use that's not compatible.
I've tried going to recovery and 'Go back to Win7' but it's telling me I need to delete the users I've created. The problem is that I removed the original user from Win7 so it wants me to delete the two users I created with Win10. Is there another way to uninstall? I know I won't be able to delete all users and I don't know how I can recreate the original account.
I do have a backup of my windows 7 install before I upgraded. Is my license still going to work or will it be inactive due to the upgrade?
Will it be saved or deleted as if factory settings? I didn't perform a clean install, just an upgrade from Win7 to Win10...
View 1 Repliesupgrading a Vista PC from a hard drive that came out of my Win7-Win10 laptop. (The laptop mobo-gpu burned up)
I want to upgrade the Vista PC to Win7-Win10 because apps I use run better on Win7-Win10. Also, MS will support Win7-Win10 longer into the future than Vista.

The Vista PC is a Gateway DX4710-09
(about 5 years old, works great)
Vista Home Prem x64 SP2
586 gig hdd with 435 gig free
6 gig ram
Win7 Update Advisor says OK to upgrade.

The Win7-Win10 laptop HDD came from a Gateway NV7310u
(about 4 years old, the hdd works great, the laptop mobo-gpu burned out)
Win7 Home Prem x64 successfully upgraded to Win10 via the free upgrade
250 gig hdd with 125 gig free

I made a DVD of Win7 sp1 x17-58997.iso

I have a Sabrent USB-DSC9 hard drive adapter
Using an Asus CM8730 desktop with Win7. Purchased a Samsung Evo 850 SSD and used Samsung Migration software to move Win7 to the SSD from the HD that came from the computer. All went well, the computer boots very fast from the SSD. After about a month of use I decided to upgrade to Win10 but each time I've tried I got the same message: "Windows 10 couldn't be installed. We couldn't update the system reserved partition."
View 1 RepliesI completed upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10. So far everything seems to be working great. I have a Macrium image of my C drive with Win 7 on an external HD. Can I create a new partition on my C drive and restore my Win 7 image there? That way I can dual boot to either OS. I have done some research and it appears to be a relatively easy thing to do, even for a computer dummy like myself.
View 8 RepliesI installed Windows 10 dvd on an old notebook which was running vista(it means I cleaned the hard disk and installed Windows 10 dvd). However win 10 has a minor problems. I'm an insider, so I checked build 10240 and 10547(upgraded last week by windows update). When I checked with showkeyplus, it says "Windows 7 OEM marker present in firmware". I suspect it be embedded in SLIC, but I don't know how to get rid of the "marker".
View 9 RepliesI deleted the win7.old folder is there another way to install win7 by removing win10 and still keep the files, since it's saying it will completely delete win10 and files and folders but I want to keep the files I have there
View 3 RepliesSince upgrading from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 10, my monitor/display on my desktop will no longer go to sleep/turn off after the scheduled 5 minutes. I had no issues with this in Windows 7. I have updated the BIOS, video drivers, USB wireless mouse driver and anything that could be related and no change. All i want is for the monitor to turn off after the set time. I don't use a screensaver. There is no driver update for the monitor (Viewsonic VX2450). I've also tried uninstalling the monitor driving and reinstalling but no change. Seems like the system also will not sleep when set to sleep.
View 3 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 ultimate to windows 10. It seemed to install okay and asked me to log on and select setup preferences, which I did. I left it alone to finish setup and it went to sleep. Now I only get a black screen with an active cursor. I've tried multiple hard restarts, entering logon blindly as suggested in other posts and using windows key-p to switch monitors all to no affect. Ctrl-alt-del has no effect. I cannot bring up any screen and so cannot start in safe mode or download video card drivers. I do not have Windows 10 on media.
View 1 RepliesThis issue is as simple as the subject line. My DVD drive was working fine under Windows 7. In fact I even installed 10 from a burned DVD. Now it is completely MIA. No exclamation-marked devices on device manager or anything. I did try a couple solutions that were supposed to work on a similar problem on 8, namely registry changes, but they did no good.
View 9 RepliesWindows 10 downloaded to my laptop, and stated that it's ready for installation, etc. As I reboot my laptop, it just goes back into Windows 7. I can't seem to figure out why either. I also tried downloading the stand alone installer with no success either. It will just say installation failed.
View 4 RepliesTrying to upgrade my wife's PC via windows update. so far failed about 10 times with different errors. Latest it downloaded everything, completed the install, rebooted shows the x% complete screen, rebooted, briefly showed the Win10 icon and the small circle of white dots, rebooted and back at win7
Error log just says
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0xe06d7363: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, version 1511, 10586.

Anti virus is just Windows Security.
I am currently running Win7 Ultimate service pack 1 and am trying to create an installation of Win10 on a flash drive before I replace some parts inside my PC that will require an OS refresh. Unfortunately I am stuck at this screen.
I am sure my OS version is activated and I have extracted my windows key via Magical Jelly Bean finder but it rejected that key.
P.S. any PC stats linked to this account are a different piece of hardware
I have a dual boot system in the following configuration:
HDD-0 = Win7 OS, HDD-1 = Win7 OS, WinXP OS. I have successfully booted into each of these operating systems - and the Win7 OS on HDD-1 is an exact clone of the primary OS on HDD-0.
I just upgraded the Win7 OS on HDD-0 to Windows 10 using the "Get Windows 10" process. I now get the new blue Boot Manger screen with all three OS's listed and I can successfully boot into Windows 10 and Windows XP. But I cannot boot into the Win7 OS on HDD-1 (which I could before the Windows 10 upgrade). How the upgrade even knew about the other copy of Windows 7, since it was not active and lives on another HDD is beyond me.
One strange thing - if I do a cold startup (power on) I get the new Boot Manger screen. But if I do a Restart from Windows 10, I get the old, black & white boot manger screen - and it does list all three OS's correctly, too.
The error message I get when trying to open (boot) the Windows 7 OS is: "LogonUI.exc - Entry point not found. RtlReleasePath could not be located in the ntdll.dll" And, like others, I now get the black screen with "Windows 7, Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine (but it was yesterday before the Windows 10 upgrade on the other HDD).
And like others, I can start the Crtl+Alt+Del to get the screen with users, Task Manger, etc. And, I can run all my applications by manually starting them in a New Task and browsing to the exe file - like Firefox.exe or Word.exe So, it looks like Windows 7 started and may be running. I just can't get into it.
I think both issues, the LogOn and the "Not Genuine" are both related to the Entry Point no located in the ntdll.dll.
At this point I really don't want to reload Windows 7 since it appears to be running and all the apps can be run manually.
All this happened after the upgrade of the other Win7 on HDD-0.
the go back button on edge doesn't seem to have the ability to, when you click and hold on it, see many of the previous pages, so you can go back more than one page per click.
View 5 RepliesI was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
View 1 RepliesWindows ten recently screwed my computer up and over no one else has the problem ( look at my other posts for details) I've literally removed my graphics card and it still happens now I want to know how can I go from win 10 back to 8.1 so I can install my graphics card again and have my flippin' PC back again.
Also I have no access to my PC only HP assistant, Ctrl all delete and the options within that
since I had an upgrade from WIN 8 to WIN 10, I did it, now I want to go back to WIN 8. I assume this is possible? But how?
View 5 RepliesI just installed windows 10 and I hate it,as I have no control over my computer, how do I go back to Windows 8.1?
View 3 RepliesI did a system restore and I lost activation (Im on build 10130). Is there any way to roll back to 8.1 and wait for official update? I can't update to newer builds either, WU shows no new updates.
View 8 RepliesI took a look at EasyBCD and played with it enough to use it's boot menu. How can I rid of the BCD stuff added and go back to the original boot menu (MBR?). I did not know about those first few sectors on the HD.
View 3 RepliesBefore installing windows 10 should I back up and or save my libraries, documents, pictures etc. and all the downloaded programs and files I currently use?
View 3 RepliesHere's a screenshot of how the recovery option looks...
View 7 RepliesIn my attempt to add security to my Lenovo Laptop Z50, and after having updated successfully to W10 from 8.1 last Autumn, I thought I'd install Panda for additional protection, not realising W10 Defender would close down. It has indeed done so, and now when I locate the Windows Defender icon via the search (bottom left of Window), and click on it, the message, 'This application has been turned off and is not monitoring your application'. Panda security is installed, but in fact, I have been happy (and felt confident) with Windows Defender, so after further thought I would like to revert back to Windows Defender, and un-install Panda.
What can I do to be able to get Windows Defender to open again?
What is the deal with windows and contrast? For many years windows has been lowering the contrast to the point that now with windows ten it is often impossible to see. The box I'm typing this in is basically invisible. The scroll bars are gone and I have to find them by waving my mouse around until I cross it. The selected link in my side bar is reduced to a then slightly grey line that simply cannot be located. This is just silly.
Is there any setting that can get some contrast back? And I don't mean the text contrast. I can read text fine. It is the controls, gadgets and highlighting that needs to be fixed.
