How To Initiate A Split Screen
Mar 11, 2016Before the Windows 10 update I was able to have two windows open on the same screen. I cannot find where to bring that back.

View 3 RepliesSince installing windows 10 on my old dell, i am having major problems. The Computer is very slow, and is probably too old to properly run the new Windows, but the biggest issue is that after a restart, i am seeing a split screen display with a line through the centre of the screen, and i can find no way to get it back to a single display. After multiple more restarts it has gone back to one screen, but i am now getting two again. In case i am not being clear, here is a photo of what i am seeing.
View 2 RepliesI can download windows ten but when the pc restarts and boots back up it shows the installing screen for a split sec then restarts again and gives me this error.
View 1 RepliesAt the far bottom left corner of the desktop resides the Windows 10 logo. It is suppose to open to a menu of 3rd party apps and Windows functions.
When I click the icon with a mouse, the menu screen opens for a split second and the immediately closes. This does not allow me enough time to open any 3rd party program on the menu or to employ any of the listed Windows 10 apps.
This also means that I do not have time to click on restart or power down and must do a hard shut down pressing the power button on the computer case.
After an update my calculator fails to initiate. When I double-click the app it shows on the desktop for about half a second as a shadow but disappears in an instant. I've rolled back the update but it didn't solve the problem. So now I am trying to uninstall it in order to upload the new one [URL] .... but I've got this message in my Windows Powershell ...
View 9 RepliesI have an HP Split X3 Tablet/Laptop (13-m110dx) that I just recently updated to Windows 10 Pro.
All is going very well with it except video playback from anything such as Plex or YouTube. What happens is: The video will start but will just keep looping the first second of the video while playing really choppy sound.
I have done the following: Installed the latest drivers from HPInstalled the drivers that were used on Windows 8.1Uninstalled all Windows UpdatesDid a clean install of Windows 10 Pro
I'm suspecting that it is the 'Intel Chipset Installation Utility' that is messing it up.
Just wanted to reduce c size, used aomi freeware to split c, after restart laptop just won't boot, how can i solve it, is there a chance to keep all data?!
View 1 RepliesWhen I click on the store it opens for a split second and then closes. I tried the wsreset.exe but i get this error ....
I also tried some other powershell commands that were suggested by others on some sites but i get the error that 'AppxManifest.xml' file was not found.
I currently have Windows 7 installed on a 128 GB SSD (C drive), which also houses my more "essential" programs and the Users folder.
I also have a 1 TB HD (E drive) which I installed the rest of my programs on (though, the registry still remains on C) and also contains most of my personal data. I moved the My Documents, My Music, etc. from C to E.
If I decide to upgrade to Windows 10, will the installer detect that I also have programs on my E drive? Or does it only look at the primary drive, my C drive?
How only the top half of names in the toolbar shows up. Mozilla forum referred me to you thinking it may be operating system because it occurs on many of the websites I visit, not just Firefoxes toolbar. Please see attached examples.
View 3 RepliesI recently upgraded to an SSD, I don't know if this is related.
While my PC was idle, it shut down for some reason (probably updates). I came back to an "Updating Windows" screen -- the exact screen used when installing, that big circle icon with a percentage. I have never had a computer boot to that on its own, but I assumed it was some important update. I let it do its thing.
Later, I came back to it doing this strange boot loop:
Motherboard splash screen
Normal W10 loading icon
Screen flash
A second, slightly larger loading icon
The "Updating WIndows" screen. Starts at 0%, raises to 75% a split second later, then disappears and turns off. This happens in about 1/5th of a second.
I booted into a startup repair disk, and ran startup repair. It said it couldn't fix issues. Next, I ran a chkdsk, there were issues it fixed but the boot loop is still in place.
Since I just installed an SSD last week, I still have my previous disk with the operating system still functioning. I booted it up, turned off automatic updates, and checked to see what may have caused this on my current disk. There were 2 updates available: A flash player update for IE, and Windows 10 version 1511 10586. I assume it is the latter, but how it installed, since I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE INSTALL. Automatic updates are enabled, but I would have thought it'd install in November, when it was released (not 2 months later!)
I don't dare install it on my backup, in case I have to re-clone the SSD.
I have an Insignia 8" tablet that I use to listen to an internet radio station. WiFi connection to my 2Wire 3801HGV router. I have it powered by the AC charger. I have the display to turn off after 5 minutes, never to go into sleep mode when powered by AC. After the 5 minutes the display is turned off, the music continues as expected and will continue for hours. But if I try to do anything I loose my WiFi.Right after the screen is shut off I can enable it again with a stroke. Then the music stops. I no longer have internet access.
Network settings says I still am connected but somewhere the connection is broken. I disconnect from my router and then try to reconnect and it will not. I get, Checking Network Requirements, Can't connect to this Network. The only way I have been able to get connected is to do a restart. I have not found any settings that have been useful. All it should be doing is shutting off the screen. Not go into any other sleep or power down state.
I did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with an Intel I5 processor, 64 bit with no hardware upgrades (stock). I had accidentally stepped on the screen (fell off my lap and then crunch) which was mangled beyond repair, so I have been using it similar to a tower, with a VGA and/or HDMI connected monitor (my HDMI cable went bad, I picked up a new cable but hadn't hooked it up to the second monitor. I started my free upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to 10 last night. I woke up to the black screen/mouse pointer issue which is what brought me to this thread. I tried the recommended fix:
1. Hit ctrl, type in password and enter
2. Win Key + P + Down Arrow. (Win Key + P only seems to do the same thing)
This brought up options to
1. Disconnect projector (Tried this and lost connection to the VGA even after reboot)
2. Duplicate (Screen is still black with mouse cursor, but I saw a little bit of red and blue pixels at the bottom where the task bar should be until I disconnected and re-connected the VGA, then it was back to black screen and cursor)
3. Extend (still black screen and cursor)
4. Connect Projector (still black screen and cursor)
I'm not sure what to do. I must have some OS installed, because I am able to also perform these operations from my USB Keyboard/Mouse. I'm just not sure how to get Windows back on my VGA connection (I haven't tried HDMI because I did not have it connected when I ran the update.) I thought Duplicate displays would do the trick, but apparently not. For as beat up as the laptop is on the outside, the hardware performs fine. I also have a 2nd laptop (work laptop, also a Lenovo W541) that I can use if any solution involves downloading something bootable.
Since upgrading to Windows 10 from 7, I ran into the same issue as [URL] ....
So I tried the catalyst scaling option for my desktop and this seemed to fix the issue for mostly everything, desktop and most games, However, the problem still seems to arise with some games I try to play, such as Xcom Enemy Within or Dawn of War 2. Changing resolution in these games doesn't appear to have any effect, the image is still falling off the screen, I use my desktop on a 32 inch TV as opposed to a monitor via HDMI, and keep it set to 1600x900 as opposed to its native 1920x10180, but even leaving it at 1920 has the same effect.
I have my specs on a dxdiag file, dunno where to upload it here, but I'm using a AMD Radeon R9 200 Series on an Asus I built.
I upgraded to Win 10 on Friday, and since, despite several resetting PC attempts, Win 10 will not load to the login screen. Instead, it is stuck on a loop flashing between the lock screen and a gray loading screen quickly back to the lock screen -- instead of loading to the login screen. This only happens when I attempt to restart or update my PC. If I go to the lock screen because I locked my PC or it fell asleep, I can unlock it. I have also attempted to reset my PC to the previous build, to no avail. I have no restore points.
View 1 RepliesWhen I boot up my computer (to windows 10). It will do the Asus splash screen then instead of going straight to windows if does this black screen with the kinda terminal thing (with no writing/text) then goes on to windows. Does this affect my computer?
View 1 Replieswin10 after showing logo black screen take 2 to 3 mintus to show welcome screen. amd radeon dual graphic card 7400+6310 driver amd site shows it a latest updated driver ...
View 2 RepliesI reinstalled windows the day before yesterday and since then every time I turn my laptop on after entering my password the screen turns off for like 2 seconds then turns back on. This have never happened to me before. I tried putting my old windows back via Macrium Reflect and I even tried reinstalling it again but neither of those things worked. I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g laptop.
View 9 RepliesSince the latest update (It introduced the slide show of pictures on the lock screen. I think it is KB3124200) I haven't been able to press Enter or Space or any other key for that matter to "slide up" the lock screen photo to get to the password screen. I've looked through the lock screen settings, but I see nothing that could prevent this.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 without a hitch an hour ago and kept all of my personal files and apps. I set up my start menu and everything was working fine, but I wanted to change the image on the logon screen (or whatever you call the screen in between the lock screen and the screen where you enter your PIN/info). So I took a risk and downloaded the 3rd party app here:
[URL] and uploaded an image and hit apply. Of course right after doing that I went to lock my PC to see if it worked, and as you can tell... it didn't.
I've tried rebooting and it hasn't worked. It's just very rapidly flashing between a blue screen w/ a loading circle and my lock screen image.
I upgraded to Windows 10. The entire screen shows up in about 75% of my monitor with the rest black. It's not that the fonts are too small, it's just that it makes my monitor look a lot smaller and I cannot seem to get it to fill up the entire monitor like Windows 8.
View 1 RepliesI have an AMD 6670 and I just upgraded to Windows 10. At first I couldn't set my resolution back to 1920x1080 but I downloaded the driver and now I'm able to. The issue is that when I set the resolution, it's like everything is stretched out. The taskbar is off the screen on the bottom and same with the icons on the top and sides of the screen. I can see the very top of the taskbar at the bottom, but not enough to click on start or choose any programs that I have open.
View 1 RepliesHave the above laptop and when trying to upgrade from Windows 10 I get the dreaded black screen problem.I get to 85% after I few reboots and it hangs at that point. No cursor on screen, clt alt del not working nothing, just blank screen no hdd movement. I tried plugging laptop into TV by hdmi still no screen. Power of laptop and previous version of windows reinstalled.
View 1 RepliesThis might be a stupid question but I havent found a solution for it myself, probably looking in all the wrong places.. would like to be able to have my computer go to the lock screen after an alotted time of inactivity without turning off the screen itself as in the power settings. I usually have screen shutoff/sleep set for longer periods but would like the screen to lock sooner.
View 9 RepliesI have an HP Elitepad 900. The problem I seem to have is when I press the power button to turn off the screen, the screen turns off but the backlight stays on.
