View 14 RepliesMy 'documents' folder suddenly got moved into another folder named 'Doctor Web.' Looking into this, I find that Doctor Web is a piece of security software originating in Russia, apparently quite respectable, but it's not something I ever installed. According to its properties, the Doctor Web folder was created in 2014, but it wasn't on my computer two days ago when a backup I ran had no errors. Today, it choked on the new folder. I'm attaching a screen grab to illustrate the situation.
My question is, is there some method by which I can move the 'documents' folder from the 'Doctor Web' folder. put it back where it belongs and delete the 'Doctor Web' folder? I have access to all my documents, but I am not at all happy with them being spontaneously moved like this. Al
I have 2 partitions in my PC. One is an SSD one is an HDD.It seems that Windows 10 put my users folder by default onto the SSD. I'd much rather it be on the HDD. Is it possible to move? My SSD isn't very large. Also, my user folder has a ridiculous name on it. It was cool when I was in high school when I first made my MSN account but it is a blight on my system. Can I change the name?

View 4 RepliesThey do not use OneDrive or Box Sync, so my PC is linked to my personal accounts. Is it possible to somehow ask Windows not to display those items up in front?
I keep some work related items in these so I can sync the data with my home PC to do work there, but there is also personal information that I keep in these.
Before (i.e. Windows 7), these were kept only in the User folder.
When I had Windows 7, I had literally every single thing in My Documents. Every song, every file, every tax record, every picture...literally everything. That way, when I backed up my hard drive, I just plugged in the My Passport Ultra drive, synced it with My Documents, and everything backed up.
But in Windows 10, I'm seeing Frequent Folders that include ThisPCMusic and ThisPCDocuments. So I figured I would just drag the music folder into the Documents folder, and it would just create yet another subfolder within Documents (other subfolders within Documents include "Resume", "Travel Info," etc. So I figured "Music" would just be another subfolder, as was the case with my Windows 7 setup.
Instead, it made a copy of the music folder, which is not what I want. I want to actually migrate the Music folder into Documents as a subfolder. I thought that maybe I could just copy it over and delete the original Music folder, but what if the copy doesn't work because the original version has been wiped out.
scanned through the 250 odd titles that came up but could not find reference to relocating the offline files folder. I frequently take an image of the system drive as a backup but, with an ever increasing offline folder (windowscsc), this is getting unworkable so I want to move the folder to my data drive (D:).
I've tried using a symbolic link to a folder on the C drive (as I've successfully done with the OneDrive folder) but win10 seems to object and stops working.
Surprisingly, with google there's loads of references to doing this with previous versions of windows but I can't find anything Win10 specific. Any reliable way of relocating the csc folder?
I can move this folder by myself and i'm not trying to move this folder to another partition or drive. This folder can be moved with "Move" command if i move it by myself first. Also, other folders that are in the same folder as problematic one can be moved without any problems. Move command from command prompt.
View 1 Repliesis there any way to use SSD as cache to speed up primary HDD with Win10? I happen to have a 24GB Intel 313 drive I'm using for linux but I was wondering if I could use it to quicken my Windows...
View 2 RepliesJust made the upgrade from Win7 and I am wondering how to do this as the title suggests, I remember there being such a thing to do this here over at the sevenforums but this method is no longer working for Windows 10?
View 2 RepliesI looked online on how to rebuild my icon cache in windows 10 after I did a disk clean and it never rebuilt. The instructions told me to locate this folder 'C:Users\%username%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsExplorer' but the problem is when I reach reach windows there is no 'Explorer' but instead to folders named 'INetCache' and 'INetCookies', both of these folders are empty. How I rebuild my icon cache?

View 7 RepliesI have downloaded crucial executive for my SSD and on one page there is a button to enable the drives momentum cache. Also on this page is a warning that my PC is not battery backuped so enabling momentum cache is at my own risk. I backup my SSD to a Hitachi mechanical drive every day.
Two questions, as I backup every day is the possibility of data loss on the boot SSD due to power loss and the cache enabled a moot point. The second question is the Ssd is a 6gb drive connected to a data 3.0gb interface, will enabling the cache see much performance improvement and will the cache save some Nand cells from being written to extending the life of the drive?

View 1 RepliesMy Inspirio 14 laptop currently has 5.74 GB of useless files sitting around in it, but none of the tools to delete them are working. Both Disk Cleanup and the option in the menu at:Settings>System>Storage>This PC>Temporary Files.Disk Cleanup won't even start, even allowing for some time. (I waited a full hour for it, still nothing.)I need to know where I can access these files to delete them myself. I already deleted things in the %temp% and prefetch folders, which brought it from 6.25GB to 5.74. I have tried running Disk Cleanup from every menu and shortcut it has, but none have worked.
View 1 RepliesRunning Win 10 on a HP Envy and upon startup everything normal, then icons appear on desktop, then a 5 inch black square in upper right of screen and this hangs for about thirty seconds then disappears and everything is fine. This does not occur on restart. At the top of black box is the following C:programdata242466sysmon.exe. How do I get rid of this delay...

I have 56gigs of temp files that I can't touch/find/remove. The delete temporary files will not work to clear this. I've tried various Ccleaner and disk clean up.
I am using a windows 10 pc.
Specs = 4gb Ram Intel i5 4210U.
Problem = When I boot up my pc after logging in and entering my password , i get a black screen with only my cursor. After 30-60s the screen flickers and everything becomes normal and works fine.
So after removing Windows 10 Developer preview from mscongif (after I upgraded from windows 7 to 10) I was still booting in the OS selection menu because I once attempted to install Kali Linux and now I have an extra option in this menu to "Continue to install Linux...". This option does not show up in the msconfig boot section. How can I remove it in order to save 5 seconds of booting time?
View 1 RepliesHave my new Win 10 Pro system up and running...so far so good....except for networking ? However...I forgot to keep track of my passwords/acct records...etc for a number of programs on Win 7 that I am putting back onto Win 10...passwords...registrations keys...etc
Can I restore a full Acronis tib of Win 7 Pro and do a dual boot setup with the new 10....and how ?
I know it's not kosher to have both Win 10 new and the older Win 7 on the same PC because of the clean upgrade to Win 10...but I need it a short period to get into Win 7 to recover/find my passwords and registration info for a number of Win 7 installed programs to activate on Win 10
How do I go about setting up a dual boot 'temporarily' to recover needed information for my new Win 10 Pro install?
In settings I have a large temporary files allocation which says I can delete, I click and it says "We're cleaning up your temporary files. Come back In a bit to checkout the results." I have left it for hours and there is no change. They are taking up a lot of room.
View 2 RepliesI've just made a very simple batch file for cleaning my temp folder. I've put the .bat file in my startup folder so it would clean TEMP when i log in. I've wrote down the following lines:
rd D:TEMP /s /q
md D:TEMP
As i said, very simple. But the problem is that it is not working. I also think i know why; there are files and folders in the temporary folder that are in use so the batch file can't delete them.
Internet Options gives recommended settings for temporary files as between 50 and 250mb. After Windows 10 upgrade mine was set at over14,000mb.
View 1 RepliesI have a site that was pointed to shopify, and then closed the store. Now when I try to load the new site, it always directs to the closed shopify site. If I do a dns reset using ipconfig /flushdns it will work for a while, but then always reverts back. So I have to reset many times per day.
