Is there any option in Wndows 10 to make system remember that I prefer fullscreen windows from the start?
So I just noticed that the little diagonal double-arrow at the right of the title bar that you use to run modern/universal apps fullscreen is suddenly missing. The arrow was there when I installed Windows 10 and was still there (afaik) up until a few days ago. Now I just have minimize/restore/close.
View 1 Repliesim starting to seriously hate this default media player now... not so much on music even tho when i press stop on my keyboard it still does not stop but anyways back on topic
is there a way to make the media player enter fullscreen instead of just maximizing the window ? ive tried ATL+Enter and still nothing.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, and I'm quite having my issues when it comes to playing my games. I have NBA 2K14 installed and whenever I run the game in fullscreen mode, there is an fps drop and whenever I use windowed mode, it just turns out fine.
I have also installed the driver updates from NVIDIA's website. My video card is a GeForce GT 610 as of this moment but I'll be changing it to a GT 730 soon btw. I don't wanna play games in windowed mode.
When I start a game I go in Windowed mode, And when I press ALT + Enter to go in fullscreen mode, or when I change it from the settings, The game crashes, And I see a little CMD icon in my windows start bar, it goes away in less than a second.
I tried formatting Windows, But it doesn't work.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro insider preview
Build 11102.rs1_release.160113-1800
Intel i5-3470
12GB RAM
1TB HHD
Asus GTX 960 Strix 2GB Overclocked.
Games I tried : Black ops 3 (steam), league of legends, Battlefield 3, 4, and Hardline (origin)
I have noticed that the area which shows shut down, personal folders etc is always visible when fullscreen start menu is not enabled. But when you change to fullscreen mode, you have to unfolde that part of the start menu, which I find very anoying, since i prefer fullscreen start menu.
So the question is, can you pin that part to the fullscreen start menu.
The new Windows notifications appear over my windowed fullscreen games, especially in one game covering up the minimap. Is there a way to make it appear under them? It used to work perfect in Windows 8 and earlier, where the speech bubble notification would appear over my non-fullscreen programs, but would be hidden behind windowed fullscreen ones.
View 2 RepliesMany BSOD's happened while I'm developing and testing a game. I'm using Intellij IDEA community edition. The game is using lwjgl 3, which in turn uses GLFW 3 and OpenGL. The BSOD always happened, while I was editing one of the source files, and quickly launched the game from the IDE. The game is configured to start in fullscreen. BSOD never happened when it launched in windowed mode.
The error code seems to be 0xD1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I've tried so many things to no avail. Finally came to my senses to post on a forum.
View 9 RepliesJust installed Windows 10 about a month or two ago, and ever since I upgraded (from Windows 7), whenever a program enters full-screen mode (a game for example), the monitor cycles its power off and back on for a quick second, which causes it to display its "power-on" logo on the screen (in this case, the Acer logo), and wait a few seconds before it goes back to the correct display.
I watched lately when it started doing this, and the blue light that shows monitor power actually flicks off for a quick second, and then comes back on. I've never seen it do this before, but it's like maybe Windows 10 is changing the monitor display output to some insane resolution maybe, and causing it to power itself off for a second? Or it's turning the output off for a second?
Store (windows app store) and various apps do not open from the start menu. Store will also not open from search box. It just flashes on the screen, but does not open. Apps- such as 3D builder, Alarms and Clocks, One Note, Sports just indicate this app cannot be opened and go to store. All remedies to fix store listed in forums for windows 8 and such have been tried but have no effect. App trouble shooter for windows 10 is unavailable, but did run it and it just gave message that it is not applicable to this issue. That is reset, get apps, restore, and such. Seems all that is left is to reset computer?
View 7 RepliesI'm having the same issue that has been reported by other member's here in the forum. When I try and open the windows store on my taskbar, it pops on the screen for one second then goes away. Also, when I open my start menu it shows ( ! ) marks on several of my app's, when I go into the settings area under application's..I'm shown that many of my app's are disabled. I've tried a 'fix' that was suggested by going into the registry, but that didn't correct the issue. I've already had to re-install windows 10 pro. at least once. Now when I go into the settings area under recovery, it now longer offers me the choice to go back to my previous o.s. ( Windows 8.1 Pro. ), it just show go back to a previous 'build' instead.
View 3 RepliesI have some issues with the metro apps in Win 10. They don't open, and have unusual names. This actually started a couple days ago when my taskbar and start menu wouldn't open. While browsing the web, I saw exact same issue get told to enter a powershell command and he replied saying it fixed it. The command in particular was:
Code:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
Long story short, It did anything but fix it, and gave it messed up names. I can click and click, but nothing shows up, even for a split second. I've tried to open an app from the .exe inside System32.
Looks like another annoyance (don't get me wrong, i'm not a 10 hater ) : when i do "open with" and select a portable app, nothing happens :/ Also if in the portable app i tick options such as "show context menu", this won't take effect. All that worked fine on 7.
I dunno for 8.1 but i guess it's same as 10? Anyways, is there a workaround? Can't live without that! Another thing : the great"types.exe" app that we all use(d) on 7 doesn't work here, is there an alternative or not yet? Perhaps it's just not possible at all to have such....
today i have updated from W7 to W10 on my Lenovo Z580. Now I can not open settings and Windows10 apps like Calendar, Edge,... (and calculator as well - "Explorer.exe element not found"). Tried Emerging Issue 67758 fix but it didnt find any issue.
View 5 RepliesI just installed the Windows 10 Preview on my Surface Pro 3 and immediately updated it to the 10130 build. Anytime that I try to open up the Mail and Calendar apps, both will pop up for 1 second and then immediately crash.
View 1 RepliesMy HP Ultrabook was upgraded to Windows 10 in September. I am able to browse internet, send/receive email and use Microsoft Office programs. Computer is rarely used (2 or 3 times per month). Last weekend I noticed that the built-in calculator app would not open (calendar and others behaved similarly). Called both Microsoft and HP support. Both suggested that the installation (upgrade) had corrupted my user account. Several internet search results also indicated creating a new user profile (copying data files from old to new account) might resolve all issues. Created new account yesterday but nothing changed. HP suggested that I must wait for major update in December. It's difficult to believe that Microsoft hasn't resolved these problems between July and now.
View 2 RepliesMy problem is that a number of my apps are greyed out, (14 at last count) and therefore return the "this app can't open" message. In trying to chase this down, I believe I've read that the problem is related to auto updates, and the lack of required licenses? I would probably rather revert to W7, but it's a number of months now since 10 was installed, so I believe that option is no longer available to me.

I can't open the Windows 10 Store on my relatively recent upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It did originally work, but the start menu currently looks like this (tooltip when hovering): I've followed the PowerShell advice at URL....but this didn't work with errors like:
Code:
Add-AppxPackage : Cannot find path 'C:ProgramFilesWindowsAppsMicrosoft.WindowsStore_2015.1013.14.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe

[code]....
The Mail App doesn't seem capable. It can't open .eml files either.
View 3 RepliesI disabled UAC and when I try to open Edge, Calculator, etc I get a window message that says that I cant open it with UAC disabled, I find it something very annoying that makes me think about going back to Windows 7, is there any around this?
In Windows 7 for example, I was able to open the calculator with UAC disabled.
When you choose photos and select 'open with' it gives a selection of apps. In the list I see the apps but one that looks odd is labelled %1 and has a generic app icon. It's almost as if it's some kind of old or broken program that doesn't exist. All the other programs like paint and photos are in the list as they should be but this is a rogue one.
View 9 RepliesI have a program called CutList. It's a program for figuring on how much lumber you need to do a project. It worked fine in Windows 8.1 but will not open in Windows 10. I ran the troubleshooting program but it did not resolve the problem. Just had this problem running in Windows 10.
