View 1 RepliesHow do you disable the monitor brightness beening changed on its own when the "Enable adaptive brightness" is set OFF?
for some reason I'm not seeing the Adjust my screen brightness automatically option in the Display tab of the SETTINGS app.
How can one reduce the volume (without effecting the volume of other sounds) of the sound playing when messages occur like this one at the bottom right side?
Using the sound mixer (or whatever it is called) does not work, the "Systemsounds" slider (set to "0") does not effect the volume of that messages:
I have a desktop computer, it was working fine almost a year and now from a few days I am having a serious issue and that is when using my computer (generally or during gaming) it displays an error i.e PAGE_FAULT_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. The screen turns pink and the edges are green (that's probably because of the resolution as I use 3840x2160 so the error kinds of destorts) but that's not the real issue, the main problem is the error itself.
My Computer specifications :
Intel i7 4790
Asus Maximus VII Formula ROG
Kingston 8GBx2 DD3 Ram (Simple ones, not the gaming ones)
1TBx2 Seagate HDD
Asus GeForce Titan X
Corsair CX850M.
I am using Internet explorer 11 with Windows 10 pro 64 bit.
I am referring to the controls in the upper right corner of the webpage window (the minus sign, the overlapping squares and the "X" symbols). The minus sign and the X do what they are supposed to do. The overlapping squares symbol is completely inert when it is clicked. Thus all I have is a full screen or no screen at all. I thought this was a browser issue, but I got the same dead overlapping squares when I used a third party browser. So I am thinking this is an operating system problem, perhaps the new Universal Windows Platform. I have been using Windows 10 since August. This inability to reduce a page window size started three days ago. Could have been an update or perhaps something I did.
Any popup like games, app reduce sound close to 0, I set it and it when something like a program opening or a game pop up, message almost silences the sound.
View 1 RepliesFor instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.
Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.
How to indent Footnote text (between the raised number and the body text) automatically?
I have word 2013, and I would like to insert an indentation 1.5 between the raised number and the text in footnotes (see figure 1)
Figure 1
1xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
2xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When I go to "Footnote Text" style, and then paragraph to do the indentation, it moves the number and the text to the right (see figure 2). But I do not want this.
Figure 2
1xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx3xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If I use the hanging option, it only indents the texts below the first line (see figure 3)
Figure 3
1xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have gone to "Footnote Reference" style, but the "paragraph" tab is locked. I cannot enter. How to unlock it? Alternatively, how can I get the results I want (figure 1)....
How can I reduce or increase size of icons on desktop.
View 8 RepliesMy Windows 10 system tray looks like [URL] .. for both large or small taskbar icons. The spacing between systray icons are larger than in previous versions of Windows.
Nearly everyone's screenshots of W10 have systrays that are more like [URL] .
How do I go about changing this? I normally use a vertical taskbar and this [URL] .
My DPI's at 100%, and the presence of Cortana and the Task View button don't seem to matter.
daily Windows Defender asks to scan my computer and nags the hell out of me about it. How can I reduce this to say once a week instead?
View 4 RepliesI can't adjust my brightness on my laptop with either the hotkeys (F11 + F12), or with the display menu in settings.
Yesterday it worked before i got to bed, then i shut it down and this morning i started it up and the brightness won't change anymore.
I hate how I have to continuously press the brightness 50 times to get it to where I want it. Is there a way I can change it to go up or down in fives? Or can I at least change it so I can hold the button down and it will keep going until I release it?
View 5 RepliesSo all I want to know now is simply whether or not you have a brightness slider bar in your control panel. Please click your start menu, then click "Settings" and go to the first option, "Display". Please look for a brightness slider at the bottom of the screen. If there is none there, then go to "Advanced display settings".
If there is still no brightness control, finally, go back to your desktop and go down to the task bar, and look for the "Action centre" icon in the System tray area (looks like a speech bubble), click this and then Click "Expand" to shot all the charms. There might be a square in the bottom of this area that enables you to change the brightness of the screen.
I was looking in the M $ site, and saw that to solve the brightness of the stop needed to uninstall the display driver and then install again, but still does not work, nor tighten FN + F2 or F3, so when I go in configurations, does not lower the brightness or drag with the mouse! And besides, all configurations that I had before are gone before I shut the PC tray and he just hibernated, now it shuts down, then again I went in config and yet nothing changes!

View 5 RepliesI downloaded new Windows 10 and maked new update + downloaded new AMD driver and now I cant add brightness. It happened after i tryed to launch AMD catalyst. Screen was black for 2 seconds and after that I could not add brightness....
View 1 RepliesI have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and since then whenever I am launching a multimedia app like VLC, Paint.net etc., the brightness gets increased to 100%. I don't want so high brightness and it's so annoying to reduce it everytime. How to disable this, I want my brightness fixed at 85%. Also note that my Adaptive Brightness is turned off as I have already checked.

View 8 RepliesI find the white of the win 10 windows just easy to bright, especially late are night. I don't wanna reduce my monitors brightness cos i have to up it again after to pay my xbox.is there a brightness setting?
View 9 RepliesI have NO brightness slider bar! My screen is blindingly bright and I have the monitor brightness turned all the way down!
I have looked in control panel and there is nothing there. Just a big glaringly bright white space as you can see above.
All graphics and monitor drivers are up to date. Remember, this is not a laptop, so I don't have any shortcut keys.
There is no slider bar in display setting/advanced display setting either. It's just not there. There is also no icon for brightness in the action centre tab.

Sometimes when i start up in win10 get a black screen, if i pull out charging lead desktop comes up, if plug back in get black screen, so pull out and on desktop go into display with left mouse button, display slider works is working in reverse so set it to darkest which puts screen on brightest, then plug charger in most times this works, Another way that works sometimes is leave charger in use function key and dim button (rh arrow) and screen sometimes shows desktop.
View 9 RepliesI have recently encountered weird problems with Windows 10, such as not being able to adjust the brightness (upon booting up, the brightness is either 0% or 100%), and sudden lag spikes that affect FPS by dropping it to 0 for 1-2 seconds, every 3 seconds. I have recently updated AMD Radeon drivers, and Windows 10 has also updated itself (which has always messed up everything) Also, now when the screen goes black (sleep mode), it always requires me to log in back to my Windows account, and it didn't do that before Windows updated itself.
The lag that I'm experiencing, is NOT connection-based lag, so my internet connection and everything works perfectly. It just the FPS that drops suddenly. It just freezes everything for a moment. It also doesn't require me playing a game or anything; just being on the desktop, having nothing open, will still make the lag spikes occur. My processor runs on the desktop around 8-24%, and when the lag spikes occur, it doesn't change at all. So nothing's draining the processor, I guess. Also the memory and all the others stay on the same level.I am using a HP Laptop that's not that efficient, but I have always been able to play games like Minecraft with decent settings on 60FPS.
I am still getting used to Win 10 on a tablet and one annoyance (system design flaw) that I would like to change is the 25% increment screen brightness in the action centre button (swipe left). 0% is way too dim and 25% is too bright in a dark room. I know I can control screen brightness better through desktop settings but that is far from convenient on a tablet. Any hack to change the increments to say 10%? I searched the registry for "brightness" and came up with a couple possible entries (one below). But then it also kind of looked like the increment may be controlled by the dll?

Also might mention that I am aware of the keyboard shortcuts but they don't work with the on screen keyboard.
Every time I go to the display colour calibration, I come across a problem when I want to change the brightness. I pass the Gamma section, but when I come to the brightness and contrast part, I cannot adjust them. Under the picture it says that I should use controls on the display, but there are none. I tried using the mouse scroll and the up and down arrows, but nothing seems to work.
