I'm about to buy the HP Star Wars - Special Edition (15-an050ca) Notebook. It's running Win10 home edition.
My question is: Is there a way for me to remove the Star Wars content safely while it's new. I just don't want the SW stuff to clutter up my computer.
Whenever I exit Star Wars: The Old Republic, my computer crashes, and I get a BSOD with the win32kbase.sys error. I've tried exiting directly from the game, from the start screen, and even force closing through the task manager. It crashes every time without fail. It doesn't crash at all while playing the game, even playing for 4 hours. Just when I exit the game.
I've switched my AV from Bitdefender to Norton, to see if that is the problem. I've uninstalled the Nvidia drivers (with the uninstall tool), then reinstalled the newest. It still crashes.I have to hold the power button to get it off the BSOD, then restart. None of my other games have caused this (that I've encountered).
i've used win 8, and 8.1 since day 1, and have fallen inlove with the zippiness and productivity enhancing start screen. the start menu to me is taking 35 steps back to the 90s. now that i have 10, i want that back, is there an extension or 3rd party vendor who has come up with that?

i want horizontal scrolling, not vertical. its more intuitive. second, i want to scroll with my mouse arrow, not the scroll wheel, i have my mouse set on fastest curser, and i could get to the end of my start screen apps in a quarter of a second, now i have to scroll, and scroll, and scroll, and now my finger is tired. third, the 3-app-wide app-group rule is just asinine. it makes you have to scroll even more because of that in and of itself. 4th, (purely aesthetics) how do i get rid of the taskbar when on the startscreen? it looks dumb.
since I upgraded my daughter has been unable to login to Movie Star Planet. when she logs in it just hangs and sits there and never loads.

I am a person who selects everything in a blink of an eye so in one seconds, right after i click on start button I already have my mouse cursor on the tile I want to click and click it to open the thing I want to open, takes me 1 maybe 1,5 second to do this task. There is an issue with start menu in w10 over here. There is some weird lag or cursor alligement issue for about 1-2 seconds after you open start menu. When you hover over for example Downloads tile, and your mouse cursor is exactly at the downloads tile, instead one tile above the tile you are hovering is hovered and if i press it that tile will open. So if i hover over Downloads, Documents will hover, and if I click, it will open documents. If I hover over Games tile, it will hover Downloads and if I quickly click like i do usually, it will open Downloads folder instead.
The only workaround for this is to either not move my mouse cursor and wait 5-10 seconds for the cursor placement to hover over the right thing (so when im hovering over Games, it will hover over games after those 5 seconds) or if I am constantly moving my mouse cursor around Games tile, then it will hover over that tile 2 seconds later after my mouse cursor has landed on that tile so I can finally click on it and open what I wanted. It is happening every time I open the start menu: Press start button > Hover over tile I want to open > need to move my mouse curcor around that tile for 1,5 ~ 2 seconds, or not move my cursor and wait 5 seconds for windows to actually select that tile > then I can click it, start menu will close, my thing will open > after I need to use start menu again I have to go through the same thing again...
After installing Windows 10? It works great, but will not turn off. I close it and it is still running and I can't get it to start back up until I remove the battery and plug it in.
View 1 RepliesOk basically I've been thinking about getting a Android / Windows box for my live TV streaming but I've been told that RAM is key and they don't seem to put more than 2gb in boxes so what I now want to do is run a HDMI from my laptop (with 12gb ram) to my TV. My question is can I set Windows up to only project the streaming playing to the TV and leave me to use my laptop for other tasks?

I need to search the term in all .doc files, how is that syntaxed in the Win-Explorer search. Seems its nothing like it was in previous win8 version.
I have windows 10 on my new system and when I insert my SD card it wont show its content. I plugged my camera directly into the computer and still not showing up. I go into windows manager and I can see my SD card in there but when I right click I cannot assign a drive letter. Everything is grayed out. My USB flash drives are all showing up and all additional hard drives. The SD cards I saw are FAT32 format from the camera. When I put them in my laptop and another desktop the pictures show up.

It also appears that there is no longer a OneDrive App that you Can download for the store. Is this correct or am I just missing it? So my only option to access my 30GB of OneDrive data is the browser???
View 3 RepliesI've been having this problem with the Mail app. The app is able to receive new emails but when you click on a new email to show the contents on the right side, it's blank. This is all true for new emails but for the old emails before the issue occurred the contents are shown properly.
I tried also sending email twice and it was stuck in outbox and there was an error sending my email.
E.g. the locally stored e-mail and/or the contact lists?
I don't particularly like Mail, so I have decided to use Outlook.com to send and receive/consolidate all my e-mail accounts as I did for years. (As soon as MS gets its act together so the "old" and the "new/Preview" versions will talk to each other or converts all the "old" accounts to the "new/Preview" version. For now, I have to use one base "old" account and one base "new" account. I have been told privately that it may be a year before that disaster is resolved).
So far, I have removed the linked accounts, and then disabled Mail by using a local account for Windows 10. Does that remove all the previously stored mail?
I guess I can even remove Mail completely as described on the forum but it doesn't seem necessary. If what I have already done doesn't remove the content, does that remove it?
In Windows 7 every user inherited content of "Public" user folders such as Images/Music/Video.Now I don't see "Public" content in my user folders anymore. What could be done to unlock this functionality?
View 2 RepliesI use OneDrive on 3 Devices. The each show their own data that I uploaded to OneDrive. I don't use the sync feature and upload only files that I want to save on OneDrive. I want OneDrive to show files from all 3 devices so that when I sign onto any one device I see the files from the other devices. How do I set this up please?
View 9 RepliesI have a problem with pop up dialog boxes on Windows 10 not displaying the content fully. Its rather frustrating as I can not see most of the text or the buttons to click on. I have changed my resolutions to different ones and also display size but the problem still persists. It only seems to do this with pop up dialog boxes, such as software installation boxes. My display is a 48" Samsung 4K TV rung HDMI from a Nvidia GTX 980Ti GPU.
View 1 RepliesSince upgrading, when I go to file explorer I have duplicates of everything, e.g., several desk tops, several My PCs, several libraries. It's hard to judge how many because inside each on are duplicate icons. So every folder I have appears multiple times. I counted at least 4 for each of my HD's (internal and external) all my USB drives (which shouldn't even show up unless they are in use), etc.
I've included a screen shot but it's a little confusing since there are so many duplications, I couldn't show them in one shot. If you look you will that the first image goes down to Library > Network. The remaining icons are on the second page (though the second page also includes stuff from the first). Just start with Network on the second page.
I have followed the advice a number of times by going to Internet Options> Security tab>scroll down to display mixed content> enable, apply, and reboot.

I receive texts containing media content and cannot open them. is there an additional app required to do this or is this an issue with mobile 10? how do I open the media contents, I am able to receive texts and respond to them, just cannot open the ones that have media content, all I get is an illustration that says download, when I tap that nothing happens.

What I noticed in one of them is that in Edge Settings under "Sync your content" the switch is set to off and an instruction and link to set on the Windows Sync Settings (!!!) - something I have already done!

Presumably the same network & server setup would stream stored movies, home vid, etc to any of the HDTV's.

Do I set it as default from the setup utility? I don't really want to re-install windows 10 on the hdd the only files I have on the ssd is mostly drivers but documents and music I want to carry over
View 1 RepliesExperiencing problem with the modern apps, where the content of the app is bigger than the actual app window, so it is impossible to use it, because the controls (buttons, input fields, scrollbars are not visible)?
Resizing of the app does not work, as the content is still bigger (its wrongly resizing with the window). Even maximized app is still unusable.
It occurs mainly in the Skype, Mail, People or Calendar apps. As you can see on the Skype screenshot, as soon as app starts it shifts the skype logo to the right, and the whole content is shifted as well.
You can also see the shift bellow, as the Options menu is partially hidden as well.
Skype is impossible to use, because the text input field on bottom is not visible.
Both the Windows 10 laptop and the Windows Vista laptop have discovery on and file and printer sharing on. The printer is connected to the Windows Vista laptop. The Windows Vista laptop can see the files within the Windows 10 laptop. The Windows 10 laptop can see the Windows Vista computer but as soon as it tries to see inside it gives an error about "spelling of the name, etc." If using the diagnosis tool it says "One or more network protocols are missing from this computer". "Resolving problems as administrator" does not solve anything.

Other things are going smoothly till now.

My wife has a laptop running Windows 7, connects to the internet using the same WiFi modem and prints using the printer on my laptop.
I downloaded Windows 10 on to my Windows 7 laptop and all of a sudden my wife can't print anymore. Microsoft, you've done it again. How I hate this!
I fooled around with HomeGroup settings on the Windows 10 laptop and the system attributes on my wife's laptop and now I can see her computer on my Windows 10 system. But I cannot see the printer on my system from her laptop.
I tried to click on my compueter from her laptop and I get a request for username and password. I don't know what username and password to use. I gather from reading the forum that I should put the name of my laptop in the username but I don't know where to look for the password.
