View 2 RepliesI woke up this morning and turned on my laptop from sleep mode and it went straight to my desktop not to a screen to ask to input my password like usually. Is this normal or some mix up?
View 2 RepliesI am unable to turn off pw protection or to lengthen the timeout settings for my display. I have spent much time pondering what I am missing but now i have tried every sleep/power save/security setting known to man and microsoft and dell and I can not turn this feature off nor can I lengthen the duration of idle time allowed prior to screen powered down.

Since this is a Home Computer and only I use it, it's a waste of time.
How can I remove the requirement for a password every time I turn on the computer ?
I tried the "netplwiz" route and unchecked the box, did not work.
My Surface Pro 3 keeps asking for a password after waking from sleep. Even though I set the netplwiz-thingie to no password required (which works, it doesnt ask for a password when booting) and set the Require sign in in account settings to 'never'. So what am I doing wrong? Really dont want to unlock it every time.

View 5 RepliesI have a Surface Pro3 which came with win10 installed (unlike my other SP3 which I upgraded to W10). I just decided to customize my start menu a bit with some live tiles re-arrangement.
Problem: I can't seem to pin or unpin apps to the tiles section of the start menu. When I right-click (or touch-hold) and select "pin to start" it shows as pinned (in that the option then becomes to unpin) but the tile never shows up with the other tiles.
Likewise, I can't remove any tiles that are already there.
The situation is I can't add any item to the "start list', which is the list on the left of the start icons. As far as I've read, it's supposed to be as easy as dragging an icon, but it can't be done I get an "x" when I reach the destination at the left.Strange also, is that in my context menu there is no option named "start list", which posters point as an option to add a program icon to the list. Also, right clicking on an item on start list does not show me the "remove from this list option".
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to remove what I suppose are some sort of system items, Mail, Alarms & Clock, Calculator etc. from the "All Apps" menu. Can't do it. They don't appear in the Windows/Start folder either.
I'm never going to use some of these "apps", which I assume is the new hip way of saying "programs". How can I delete?
I beta tested Windows 10 several months back, previous to the version I tested, if you removed all the pined tiles from the start menu, it would look more like the conventional start menu. However in the few version I tested, even if you unpinned all the tiles, the start menu was still 1/2 the screen, the tile area was just blank..
I have a free upgrade from Windows 7, but If they didn't go back to allowing you to remove tiles from the start menu and get more of a traditional start menu, I'm sticking with Windows 7..
Also, if I did upgrade to Windows 10, can you go back to windows 7, either by Uninstalling the upgrade and/or be reinstalling Windows 7? or does it convert and remove your Windows 7 license key there by deleting your ability to go back to Windows 7?
When I first installed W10, after I entered my password it would proceed to boot up without having to press Enter. For some reason it no longer does so. I have crawled through all the Settings pages but have not found how to make that work again.
View 4 RepliesAll of the previous versions of Windows that I ever set up, you were able to set auto-start with no password. Inow have Windows 10 and can't for the life of me find a way to do this. Is it not available option now in Win 10 ?
View 6 RepliesUpgraded Windows 10. Left computer overnight. Blue windows start screen with password entry. Cant type password. In the lower right corner there is a wifi, clock and shut down button. mouse pointer does nothing. I can do a hard shut down with on/off button but still comes back with the same display.

View 1 RepliesHow Do I remove "Name group" from the top of my tiles section on the top of my start menu.

After installing Windows 10? It works great, but will not turn off. I close it and it is still running and I can't get it to start back up until I remove the battery and plug it in.
View 1 RepliesI have had windows 10 on my pc now for a month or so, and decided to set up a windows account.. but I didn't read the example and I used an in valid email domain. Instead of using one of the 3 domains... @Hotmail.com,@outlook.com or @live.com.. I used @windows.com...?? therefore I couldn't get the verifying email with the 7 digit access code.....
So now when I turn my pc on the window screen comes up with the user ######@windows.com and ask me for the password.....which doesn't exist because the email address wasn't verified....and now I'm locked out of my pc.....I got online with windows tech and they said I need to reinstall windows 10....
I have tried using a media creation tool they suggested but my pc wont boot up from cd drive (it is set to boot from this first)...cd runs but doesn't install....I don't get screen asking me to press any key to boot from cd drive.......and I have played with setting in my bios......
Anyway to make start button list all my applications without having to to click all apps and remove the abc categories?
