View 1 RepliesUntil yesterday everything was working fine. This night I shutdown my computer and this morning, when I started it up, I noticed the icons of my dekstop in the default location and with the default dimensions.
I repositioned them , I changed icon dimensions again but if I sign out/sign in , restart , shutdown/startup the computer , all my desktop icons go back to default position and default dimension.
I upgraded my Asus X205TA to Windows 10. However I wanted get a clean install so I went into recovery and chose to reset the PC and clean all apps, files, etc.
Whenever I try this it fails then gives me a blue screen with options. Only booting back to Win10 only works.
Is there a way I can get my win10 key and install from a win 10 download?
I did go back to Windows Download tool and had it create a USB stick. Can I use this to do a clean install?
I don't want to move on unless I know I can get Win 10 installed on this again. I know once I erase everythign my there is no option to go back to Win 8.1.
When the program. 1st starts my mouse won't work so I. cannot click on the logo, when it reaches the password page, it won't let me sign in? Wrong password it saids.

View 3 RepliesHave just upgraded this afternoon and now can't get beyond the request for a password on my lap top. The password I have always used is apparently "incorrect". I can't reset either as I am being told I need a USB flash drive which I don't have. Why is this happening and what can I do to get into my lap top?

My computer is using my microsoft account password on startup
How do I get back in control of my password?
Microsoft just forced me to change my Win10 password, I could not get around it, i couldn't change it back "you cannot use a password previously used" . I was pretty livid and I don't want to forever have to come up with new passwords I've never used before. Can i stop this, or freeze my current password? Is there any way not bend over for MS and say of course sir, however you like sir. I just want to keep my password the same.

View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. I didn't realize it was going to mess with my log in credentials just to get into my PC. Well, I'm locked out of my PC. I can't log on, it just tells me when I enter in the PIN and the Password that "Your device is offline, please enter old password." I do that and it rejects it.
I can't get internet access because I live on a college campus and the way they have it set up is you have to be logged into your computer before you can access the network.
I tried "resetting my PC" and chose the option to delete all the data but no idea if that will work yet.
I also tried reinstalling windows 7 from the CD, but I can't seem to get it to do that since I can't log in and get any kind of interface. I tried using the boot menu to boot from the CD (it's a retail version of windows 7.) but that doesn't work.
What do I do here? Is my computer bricked? This is ridiculous.
I'm using Administrator account on my PC, when I click on "Create a password reset disk" nothing happens, what's the issue? or again it's Windows 10 thing!!
View 9 RepliesI recently downloaded windows 10 onto my ACER laptop, however when I turn my laptop on and sign in, my screen keeps turning on and off over and over again, I've tried turning it off and restarting it. I'm not sure what's going on.
View 1 RepliesI had recently clean installed Windows 10 on my laptop. Before doing that, all my drivers were working well except for WiFi - a problem since build 10158. Currently I am on build 10240.
When I plug usb sticks into the USB 3.0 ports on my laptop, they don't connect. It's not like the 'not recognised' problem. It simply shows no sign of connection like blinking its LED or any response from the OS. On the other hand, when I connect my Lumia phone in the same ports, it warns me of Slow Charging.
And when I plug it into the 2.0 port, it gets connected. Why is this happening? All of my device drivers are up to date. I believe its not a hardware issue because my laptop has two such ports and both of them have the same problem.
Long story short, I have had Windows 10 on my laptop ever since the second I could upgrade it. Last week my laptop got infected with a virus and would not boot up. I tried everything and the only solution that would work was to reset it to factory condition which brought my laptop back to windows 8.1. I no longer see any notifications popping up telling me I can upgrade to Windows 10. Is there another way I can upgrade or am I stuck with Windows 8.1 for good?
View 3 RepliesI tried to reset Windows 10 after having problems with Drive C ,after going through some of the procedures a notice came up saying it couldn't reset. Now nothing comes up on the screen only the Samsung name flicks on & off. I have pressed the F4 key to no avail.
View 1 RepliesSo I upgraded to windows 10 but I wanted a clean install of it so i figured a factory reset would do it thinking it would have windows 10. But that was stupid now I have windows 8.1 with no windows 10 icon so my question is will the icon come back so I can upgrade back to windows 10 or am I stuck with the older version?
View 5 RepliesAfter resetting my laptop (specs below) from within Windows 10, it cannot boot anymore. It just displays the hp logo and after that it's a black screen with my mouse pointer, indicating that something is loading (the spinning circle). But how long I wait doesn't matter, because it doesn't boot ever. I have tried booting in safe mode, and that worked. But I'm not able to figure out how to boot normally.
my specs: HP Envy 15-j190nb
Intel i7 M 4700MQ
Intel HD 4600 graphics + nVidia gforce 840m
12 gigs ram
Yesterday I used the "Get Windows 10" option on my Windows 8.1 HP Envy-15 laptop. The process seemed to work fine and I managed to login and use the new OS fine. However, I decided that while I was installing a new OS that I might aswell clean the system back to the Windows 10 factory settings. To do so I used the Windows 10 reset option within settings. It didn't seem to be finished when I went to bed so I left it on overnight (for a grand total of around 15 hours of reset), but when I awoke it was still at the 30% I left it at it.
I decided to reboot it and this went into a Windows 10 screen which I promptly hit the "Exit and retun to Windows" on, however this did not work and now whenever I boot the system it shows the HP logo, then a black screen then back to the HP logo in a loop.
I've created a Windows 10 USB and tried to run that on the laptop but I can't seem to get into the BIOS settings either after trying the usual ESC, F12, F8.
Cleaning the keyboard whilst the computer was in the loop bought the BIOS up for a second and then it disappeared again and I can't seem to get it back as I do not know what buttons I pressed.
Upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 today, but it didn't ask me about whether or not I wanted to keep anything or not.. it just automatically kept my files.. but I wanted it to wipe everything clean with this install. So I'm on Windows 10 now and I want to do a factory reset, and I've gone to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.. But clicking the "Get Started" button does absolutely nothing. I've tried doing the Advanced Startup > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC too.. but it doesn't ask me how much I want to keep, or do anything actually, that just goes to a black screen and resets my laptop.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. After experiencing some problems I thought the laptop might run faster if I simply reset it. I picked the option to remove all personal files since everything is backed up anyway. After resetting my PC boots up, goes to a blue screen where it says it can't start up with the error "INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE" then restarts and does this process again.
My laptop has pretty good specs so it should have been running faster than it was and I am now stuck as to what to do.
I have a small laptop running Windows 8 that I'd like to give to a friend after I install Windows 10. If I do a factory reset to remove all my stuff, will it retain Windows 10 or will it revert back to 8?
