Aug 2, 2015I'm using Windows 10 Pro. I installed the OS from the ISO file. There is one little bug though.
In the lock screen settings, in "choose an app to show detailed status", the place where I can add the apps for which I want detailed status to be shown like email, calendar, it is not showing. Instead, its showing "none". It means I cannot add an app for whose notifications I want to see in the lock screen.
Also, in "choose apps to show quick status", the only app that is shown is 'People'. No other app is shown.

Jan 27, 2016I remember the feature on Windows 7 where you could choose "Hide icon and notifications" which would, well, hide both the icons and notifications.I know you can easily hide the icon for non-Modern/Metro programs by just dragging it to the area inside the ^ icon. I've done that for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but yet if it blocks something I still get a nagging notification saying it did so.
For the time being, I've just turned notifications off inside of MBAM as it gives that option... but not every program lets you do that. A lot just force the notifications on you. When I look in Settings, it says "no apps have requested notifications yet" because I assume that only applies to Metro/Modern apps. Other programs sort-of have their own way of doing it.
Or WILL they for sure show up in Settings if they use the "normal" Windows notification method? MBAM does its notifications differently from most, but I remember that in Windows 7 I COULD get rid of them just by choosing "hide icon and notifications" from the Windows options.

Sep 1, 2015So I now have windows 10 and I'm so fed-up with it. It all started with RST driver thing not working. I downloaded the latest driver, installed it and windows would not boot. It would go to the trouble shooting screen and I tried everything, got frustrated and did the PC reset that does not delete your personal files. But it did just that! All the previous apps that I had, all the years of saving my favorite links in folders inside of firefox is all gone. All my adobe apps, security apps etc.... I have tried system restore (recovery) and even that was turned off. I tried to revert back to win 7 but the system restore in that was turned off as well and I don not understand how or why it was that way...

Aug 10, 2015So, right after installing W10, I spent a bunch of time messing around with the new Start Menu. I wound up removing a bunch of items from my "Most Used Apps" list by right-clicking on them and selecting "Do not show in this list".
I've not got my Start Menu setup the way I'd like it, but those apps I removed from the "Most Used Apps" list, of course, aren't showing up.
Where or how to reset that "Most Used Apps" list?

Because I was a bit nervous using Win 10 for the first time, I said Hello Hello Hello in stead of the prescribed sentence. My microphone was set up on this clumsy basis. Now Cortana will only recognize the word Hello when I say it. How can I create another opportunity to adapt my microphone to Cortana by saying the prescribed sentence?

Jan 2, 2016I am set up to start up without having to log in. but every time I start the laptop after about 5-10 minutes I get a notification asking me to 'click here to enter your most recent credentials, your microsoft account needs you to sign in again. If I click as it asks it takes me to Settings - mail and accounts which reveal that I am signed in. It makes no difference to my mail account whether i click or not as I can access the mail app and the store and anything else that needs a Microsoft account without problem. I am assuming that an update a few weeks ago caused this. It has no effect on the machine and if I click the notification and get the settings page all I have to do is close the settings app and the notification goes away until the next time I start up.

Sep 9, 2015For me, the notifications on my desktop only show mails, system notifications and nothing else. No other app uses the notification system, while they could (for example skype, viber, games and so on).The notification system is another failing feature or we hope to be improved?
And secondly is the expand button, where you can press the little arrow and it will show you 50 more characters of the message/mail you got. it is obvious that this doesn't work, if you have used it you know: if it is an email, you want to read it all, or you want to mark it as read, or you want to reply, but you cannot do it through the expand button, so it is useless. On w10m you can answer an SMS from the notification bar after pressing the expand button, which is great! But why not any other app uses that feature? Is the expand button another failing feature or we hope to be improved and used by other apps??

How To Identify Notification Sounds
Oct 29, 2015I have a desktop PC (see specs) that is persistently giving two different notification sounds but not showing a banner in the notification area to tell me what is warning/notifying me of. I think I have determined what events are being triggered by changing each notification sound in turn to a distinctive chime that is not used elsewhere. The two events concerned are "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect". Strangely I seem to receive many more disconnect notifications than connects.
The sounds spoil my enjoyment when listening to music or watching movies etc. Obviously I can switch the sounds off by selecting "none" as the sound to play with these events but, just as obviously, I would like to know what is constantly connecting and/or disconnecting.
I am connected to a home network but I'm connected via ethernet cable and am not attaching or detaching any other equipment when the sounds occur. I'm a bit worried that I'm being scanned over the internet but I'm connected via a cable modem/router. Is there any way to show the reason for these notifications?
BTW, I'm using Windows Defender and Firewall together with the paid version of Malwarebytes.
Installation :: No Notification To Install
Dec 1, 2015I reserved Windows 10 upgrade in July. App shows that computer is compatible. It is near the end of Nov. and no notification to install. Should the Threshold 2 update allow me to install Windows 10? Everyone around me seems to have gotten the notice to install the upgrade but me.
