How To Roll Back To 8.1
Jul 19, 2015I did a system restore and I lost activation (Im on build 10130). Is there any way to roll back to 8.1 and wait for official update? I can't update to newer builds either, WU shows no new updates.

Sep 26, 2015I upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. after a month, my system crashed due to inaccessible_boot_device issue. I tried everything, but had to go for a fresh install of windows 10. then came the issue of activation. No matter what i did, it wasnt getting activated. So, now the customer care at HP has asked me to install Windows 8.1 again. and then upgrade.
My question is, should I install Windows 8.1 Single Language itself, as it was my original OS, or can I go for Windows 8.1 Pro. Will Pro dvd have the option of Single Language in it? Media creation tool is not working for me, that is why I'm trying to download Pro via torrent and then install Single Language.
Installation :: Can Only Roll Back To Last Build
Aug 4, 2015I'm trying to roll back to the OEM Win 7 on this machine. On the setting page "Updates & security" the options under "recovery" did NOT include rolling back to Win 7. The only choice was to roll back to the previous build. I thought perhaps I would have to work my way back to 7 build, by build. I started out with 10041, then 10130, then 10240. I clicked the "Back to previous build, hoping. Well, it went back to 10130 no problem. However, that is it. Going the Setting, Updates& Security route within this roll back of 10130 there is no way to keep going back to finally get back to Win 7.

Is there a way I can roll back to before I did this, since I still have the Windows.old file with all my things in, Do I just Copy and replace my files with the things from Windows.old to the new one or is there a way to roll back completely?
installing all my stuff again is not worth for a temporary fix.
8.1 Roll Back Option Gone - USB ISO Boot Not Possible?
Aug 22, 2015So, i absolutely hate windows 10 and MS for making it, so i am more than happy to go back to Windows 8.1. Only problem is, that i cannot.
Roll back option in recovery is gone and i haven't gone for 30 days. So, naturally i went for my trusty old 8.1 ISO that i made, only thing here now is that doesn't work either. I get this: "setup has failed to determine supported install choices" ... So..... What can i do?

Aug 17, 2015I have been running Windows 10 Pro on my HP desktop for overa week with no problems. Over theweekend Windows attempted installing an upgrade; not sure when, but during theupgrade process I received a Critical Process Died BSOD with no error code. All system restarts result in the same error, and I havebeen unable to use Repair, Recovery Mode, or Safe mode to isolate theproblem.
The only usable option seems tobe to do a System Restore where I have the choice of losing all installed apps,or losing both all installed apps and files. Is there any way to roll back to the Windows 8.1 that isstill located in the Windows.old folder from the command prompt?
Windows Apps Not Opening After Roll Back To Previous Build
Dec 21, 2015After experiencing difficulties with the last windows update I decided to roll back to previous working build (10240). Now some of Windows 10's apps are not functioning. If I open e.g. Calculator, Photos or Store, the app's window will flash on the screen for a second or two before closing.
The effected apps also take a different appearance in the Apps & Features section of the settings with the "move" and "uninstall" buttons greyed out and the names being less user friendly, I've attached a screenshot below. Is there are way to get them restored?

Jul 20, 2015I just noticed something odd tonight when browsing through my photos in Windows 10 10240. Almost all the pictures from my camera roll are blurry / low res when viewing in the new photos app. I compared them side by side on my other PC right next to it running 8.1 pro and it is night and day. The same pictures appear crisp and clean in the traditional windows photo viewer. I know that i have two different monitors with different resolutions but i never noticed a problem before when i had 8.1 on the pc that now has windows 10.
I think this is a real problem with the app in windows 10 because a) when i zoom into those photos that are blurry they become clear when zoomed in enough and b) it is very noticeable, something that i never picked up before when i was on 8.1. Now when i view wallpapers or downloaded images from the internet they seem to be clear so it doesnt really make much sense why it is just my camera roll pictures from my Lumia 929.

After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. Feb 10, 2016In my attempt to add security to my Lenovo Laptop Z50, and after having updated successfully to W10 from 8.1 last Autumn, I thought I'd install Panda for additional protection, not realising W10 Defender would close down. It has indeed done so, and now when I locate the Windows Defender icon via the search (bottom left of Window), and click on it, the message, 'This application has been turned off and is not monitoring your application'. Panda security is installed, but in fact, I have been happy (and felt confident) with Windows Defender, so after further thought I would like to revert back to Windows Defender, and un-install Panda.
What can I do to be able to get Windows Defender to open again?

Aug 23, 2015What is the deal with windows and contrast? For many years windows has been lowering the contrast to the point that now with windows ten it is often impossible to see. The box I'm typing this in is basically invisible. The scroll bars are gone and I have to find them by waving my mouse around until I cross it. The selected link in my side bar is reduced to a then slightly grey line that simply cannot be located. This is just silly.
Is there any setting that can get some contrast back? And I don't mean the text contrast. I can read text fine. It is the controls, gadgets and highlighting that needs to be fixed.
Unable To Get Back To Windows 7
Mar 16, 2016I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 today. I had deleted some of the apps needed to get pictures from my phone, so thought I would use the reset option to get back to the original state when the upgrade had conpleted, not realizing it would delete all my programmes as these were termed 'apps'. I now don't have the option in 'recovery' to go back to Windows 7, nor the option in 'advanced start up' to reset to factory settings.
I want to get back to Windows 7 so I can use the system image and my back up, both on external HD, to reinstall all my programmes but can't think how I can do this.
