View 2 RepliesI recently bought a toshiba satellite c-55 laptop, as soon as i got it i upgraded to windows ten. i do not know if the usb ports worked before my upgrade, but they do not work now. i tried to download drivers but nothing has worked.
I know i have power to the usb's because my usb hub lights up when i plug it in. the device manager says the usb's are working but they are not. Is there a way to see if it is a hardware problem?
I have 3 flash drives that, for some reason, no longer function regardless of which USB port they are attached to. They display as if they are ready but indicate "not responding" as soon as I try to access them. I see message "not migrating" under Events in their properties. This is a problem that has just arisen. I've been running Windows 10 since official release.

View 1 Repliesfew days ago I installed Windows 10 pro from Windows 7 ultimate. Since installation of Windows 10 my keyboard and mouse remain powered after shut down PC(lights on). I have never had this issue before on W7.
View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading to windows 10, my mobo USBs will all disable... Why is this happening and how do I fix it? this makes my wifi mouse and keyboard stop working...
View 1 RepliesExternal usb sticks or drives list twice in the file-manager.
Tried the advice in this text. It lasted only until my last update. Then it was back to dual entries again.
Would like a permanent solution. Maybe a .reg?
So I got a new asus M5a97 for a new socket and whatnot and now when I shut down there are 2 issues (title bar not long enough for both). The first is whenever you shut it down it leaves all usb ports powered.
The second is that every second time you try to boot it goes to the asus screen where there's meant to be the little circle made of dots spinning and no circle appears nothing happens. Hardware all seems fine so not sure what needs changing.
I can't open Windows photo app, calendar, mail and movies &Tv.
View 1 RepliesAfter a Windows 10 update, suddenly no Metro apps work at all besides Microsoft Edge. Not even the store. When I open any of them (besides Edge), it shows the splash screen for a second, then it closes. I also tried the PowerShell command that people have been throwing around here and that didn't work, either.
View 4 RepliesFollowing the November Update about six important apps such as People and Windows Store itself have failed. Their tiles have gone blank, they do not respond when clicked, nor do their entries in all apps -- if they are there. Store cannot be found anywhere and I cannot download / reinstall from the online Store.
I have used the Add-Appx Package command from within FixWin 10, and directly, in Windows Power Shell, without success.
(for some reason I cannot paste it here) .
However, Power Shell does report on each of the failed apps with a brief statement of why it cannot re-install / re-register them.
All was well till 2 days ago, when I no longer had icons or Cortana. Tried to recover these using "powershell" Was only able to recover some icons, but not all. Can access some of my apps indirectly, but have lost many. Do not even have access to the app store anymore.
View 3 RepliesAll apps redirect me to the windows store stating that my trial period has expired and windows store simply wont open. i upgraded from windows 7....
View 1 RepliesI noticed a folder named" Windows.migrated" and I deleted in error thinking it wasn't necessary anymore. This was after i upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 to 10. Unfortunately it caused ALL my store apps including the default ones to be deleted. I'm a bit lost of what to do now. I don't have a restore point to access.
View 3 RepliesI just switched to the new mail app mostly because i want calendar, contacts and email shared across multiple computers and devices. Calendar and contacts seems to be shared fine but I have a cableone.net email and a gmail account. My new mail downloads fine but older mail and none of my folders in outside accounts show up. I have played with the sync settings...started at one week and moved out from there but old mail and folders do not download.
View 2 RepliesMy computer is crashing constantly, and its gotten to a point where its just very hard to use. It sometimes crashes 3 or 4 times a day, with crashes including blue screens, random restarts, complete power offs, and a combination of blue screen and mid blue screen it turns off. I've manually removed software, used malware scanners, cleared data, but nothing so far has worked.
My computer is the CyberPower GUA880, with the single modification of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card.
My most common BSOD is CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
Even if I mark an album, say, 'my documents' as a "documents" type folder in my onedrive online settings, these photos will still be included in my 'photos' tab stream. that and, any photo ever that's on my PC will show up- not just photos in my "my photos" folder on my PC. it's really annoying, i'm getting gamesave pictures, wallpapers, screenshots, and all kinds of random crap that aren't supposed to be part of my camera roll stream all over my one drive... why is it doing this?
View 1 RepliesI am having some trouble getting the default store apps to work. As for the store itself, it used to briefly show the splash then crash. Now it is just an unknown file type that doesn't do anything when clicked. I have tried some of the more common fixes, like the powershell re-register scripts, but none work, all returning errors of one kind or another. At this point, would it just be easier to "Reset this PC", or is there another fix I may not have tried?
View 8 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro. My computer is a desktop, cpu is amd tri core and I have 6Gb of memory. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 my dvd drives have not worked, they worked fine with Windows 7, I have searched the internet for answers, found 2 that I tried but they didn't work.
The first one I tried was to reinstall the drivers, I uninstalled the drivers for both dvd drives and then restated my computer, the last one I tried was a script change to the registry, where you go into regedit and then into HKEY_Local_MachineSystemCurrentControlSetServicesatapi, then you create a folder called Controller0, then you left click and click on NEW and type in, 'EnumDevice1' as 'RegDWORD' and then modify to binary 1 hex, exit regedit and restart your computer.
I also found a script file that I think was suppose to do the same thing if you were uncomfortable editing the registry manually, I down loaded the file double clicked on it and then restarted my computer. They still do not work properly. I am just about to go back to Windows 7, if I can get them to work I'll stay with windows 10. I have reached my wit's end and don't know what to do next
I am on an iMac using Bootcamp & I have just upgraded from Win 7 to 10. Working GREAT! My only problem is Win 10 cannot read my 2 x WD 3Tb USB hard drives.
Error message" The parameter is incorrect". In Disk management it says the drives are active but RAW. I have tried the same two drives on another Win 10 & Win 7 machine & they are showing as NTFS & can be read, so no fault with the drives. I have tried changing the drive names etc but no change. So why does one machine refuse to read these?
I cannot find any solution apart from reformatting the drives which I do not want to do.
I just built and finished my new rig, but I need to install Windows 10. I have a 1 terabyte HDD and a 256 gigabyte SSD. I want to install Windows 10 onto the SSD, how can I do this?
View 1 RepliesSo i just built a new pc, I have a 1tb hdd in the post but I have my Samsung 950 ssd installed. When i bought it on ebay, i asked for it to be completely reset. I get past the product key, I made a usb with rufus to install from, but when I choose custom Install, it asks for the drive to use and there are none available. I went to get drivers for the 950 on a separate ssd but none of them worked when i hit "load drivers"
View 1 RepliesI'm currently using Windows 10 and have a 1TB hard disk. It has been divided into 4 parts. One for OS, another for it's drivers, and the rest 2 primary partitions for media storage.
Now, I need to install Ubuntu as well and I'm not sure how to go about it. I have a few queries like: Is it possible to merge the two extra drives together and in turn creating a partition for Ubuntu. Is that even possible. Should the new partition for Ubuntu be logical or primary, and the reason for choosing the same.
Ok, I know when doing a clean install or 1st time installation to disconnect the 2nd internal drive.
I have been testing Win10 on my laptop that only has one drive, but my desktop has an SSD OS drive and a 2TB spinner for the Libraries , File History and Macrium Reflect images. I have only started using 2 drives(before this I had never done it) at the end of last year and never had to upgrade or reinstall Win 8.1 update.
Question: When I run the upgrade to Win10, through Windows Update(whenever it comes down to me), Do I/Should I disconnect the 2nd internal(and redirect everything after), or can I just leave it connected, with no ill effects?
I have a Windows 7 PC with 3 DVD drives. Imgburn shows them as connected to 3 different SATA busses: [2:0:0], [3:0:0], and [4:0:0].
After upgrading to Windows 10, all of them ended up on the same bus, [2:0:0], like this:
Why did that change? I tried connecting them on different SATA plugs, but they are always shown on that [2:0:0] bus. The thing is, I really need them to be on different busses, because of a particular requirement of a legacy application I use.
I have 2 computers (asus and acer) that came with Windows 7 Home. The product keys are on the side of the computers. The hard drives have been wiped and are blank. How can I update to Windows 10? My guess is I have to download and install Windows 7 with the keys on the computer and then update, but where can I download a copy of Windows 7 from?
