I have many albums on my computer. I used to be able to identify or sort them easily by genre with Windows media player. What now with Windows 10? How has this been improved?
View 1 RepliesI have my albums organised on OneDrive yet when I go into Microsoft Photos on my Surface Pro 3 (Windows 10) its showing none of my albums at all under the 'albums' tab. Tried signing out and back into app. Nothing working. Strange thing is on my Lumina 930 (Windows 10 Preview latest build) my albums are showing under albums in photo app. All my albums are in the cloud so baffled why it shows on phone but not on my surface.

View 3 RepliesI have a desktop PC (see specs) that is persistently giving two different notification sounds but not showing a banner in the notification area to tell me what is warning/notifying me of. I think I have determined what events are being triggered by changing each notification sound in turn to a distinctive chime that is not used elsewhere. The two events concerned are "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect". Strangely I seem to receive many more disconnect notifications than connects.
The sounds spoil my enjoyment when listening to music or watching movies etc. Obviously I can switch the sounds off by selecting "none" as the sound to play with these events but, just as obviously, I would like to know what is constantly connecting and/or disconnecting.
I am connected to a home network but I'm connected via ethernet cable and am not attaching or detaching any other equipment when the sounds occur. I'm a bit worried that I'm being scanned over the internet but I'm connected via a cable modem/router. Is there any way to show the reason for these notifications?
BTW, I'm using Windows Defender and Firewall together with the paid version of Malwarebytes.
I have and iPhone and I have lots of albums downloaded to my Windows 10 running PC. As far as I can tell, the only way to transfer music from my PC to my iPhone is through iTunes. Now I am not going to be upset if there this is the only way and I'll just have to only listen to this music on my computer, but I wanted to ask if downloading iTunes on Windows 10 is a good idea, and if it will mess with my music (mainly MP3s) and my music player (Foobar2000).

View 1 RepliesI have 3 recovery partitions.Recently, I created a recovery drive, installation media and Image Backup + rescue media using Macrium Reflect onto a external hard drive and FD's.
I cannot identify the creation date of these partitions.I would like to delete unnecessary recovery partitions on my C: drive.I can safely delete the partition having 7.20GB?Or is this MS factory backup Partition?
My single ssd has the partitions shown in the attached file. This notebook was converted to win 10 from 8.1. I want to merge C: and D: into one volume. However to do that it appears that I need to have them adjacent. I tried to move the two offending small partitions but can't. Better yet I would feel better about just deleting them . Is there a way to tell what is in them? I don't care about recovering to win 8.1.

How do I see pictures that I take with my surface, on my phone through the photos app/one drive? I don't seem to see anyway to have pictures automatically save to one drive or to be auto upload to one drive on Windows 10.
Also, What determines what albums are shown under "albums" on windows 10m? I have a lot of picture albums stored on one drive but the only two folders that show up are camera roll and saved pictures.
If I scroll to the "folders" section of the app, I can navigate through photos app to the folder I want... But this is annoying.. the album should just show up under albums. How do I get that?
I recently tried using rainmaker to customize my desktop but decided I didn't want to use it and uninstalled it. Now my desktop icons wont auto sort to the bottom row no matter what I set my res to Unless my display scaling is at 100% (I prefer 125%).

View 1 RepliesJust upgraded my daughter's Compaq CQ-71 laptop to Windows 10. I had used my Microsoft account (email) to set up the initial account on the machine and this of course pulled over my profile picture etc. However, this question is about subsequent accounts created on the machine.
I had created a local account for my daughter while still on Windows 7 but now the machine is on Windows 10, how can I add a Microsoft account email to my daughter's login details so that her profile is shared between machines?
On Start menu, Photo Gallery (most used) came up and all photo albums, documents were in that folder. Now it's gone for some reason. How do I get the albums corralled into Photo Gallery again?
View 2 RepliesEvery disk and/ or folder when I tick sort by name-ascending the damn thing reverts to date modified descending if I leave said disk or folder and return. I tried "Enable_Auto_Arrange_in_File_Explorer.bat" and "Reset_Folder_View_Settings_of_All_Folders_to_Default.bat" courtesy of Brink to no avail.
Is there a way to get file explorer back to default sort (by name-ascending) for all disks, folders and sub-folders at once?
It was all fine last week and I've no recollection of playing with any settings.
The dopey thing defaults to sort by file size so you can't find anything! how to set the default to sort by name?
View 2 RepliesI like to sort some of my folders by date and for some reason I can't understand, when I open an image with WPV, it gets sorted by name instead of date (the folder remains the same, it's just the WPV that screws everything). If I wanted to see whatever I have inside the folder by name, I would just sort it by name for god's sake.

There was something called HobComment that worked on XP but there does not appear to be a Win10 X64 version.
2. Is it possible to have File Manager ignore definite and indefinite articles (the, a, an) when sorting by name?
