Dec 31, 2015I have a Lenovo P580 laptop. The screen wire got shorted out, so I just always connected it to a TV and never really had a problem. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1. After getting that issue with the start menu and cortana not working, I tried the make another profile, etc stuff from the internet. I changed my laptop to always load into safe mode using command prompt... NOW, every time it loads up, it loads into safe mode... only problem is I can't see it or do anything because the output for my tv doesn't work.
So... I bought a new wire for the laptop screen... nothing. Bought a new screen... nothing. So I assume the motherboard is damaged... The HDMI and VGA ports worked up till I set it to boot into safe mode...
Is there anything I can do? short of replacing the motherboard?
Boot Up Stop With A Black Screen Showing ACER And Nothing Happens
Feb 26, 2016Installed win 10 with no problems and it has been running successfully for a good while. Recently I have had some booting problems, not all the time but every so often the boot sits there with a black screen showing ACER and nothing happens. If you sit long enough it will boot with no other problems. I tried looking at the boot section and switched it to normal as it was on something else which I cannot remember.

Feb 1, 2016I can be typing a message and all of a sudden the size will start changing from 100% to 125% and sometimes all the way up to 175% before it stops. It does flip back and forth at times. It does all this on it's own without even a thought of increasing or decreasing on my part. It has gone down on it's own to a size that is impossible to see let alone read. This is very irritating for me as it happens randomly and often. There does not seem to be any way to set it and save it as we have always had the option to do that before. I am using Windows 10 Home on a brand new HP. AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics. 2.20 GHZ 8.00 GB RAM 64-bit OS, x64-based processor. I don't know any other specifics about the system. Like I said this happens randomly and very often. It just now happened. Went from 100% down to 55% while I was typing and not trying to change the display zoom size at all. There are no files I can upload to show this....

Sep 3, 2015Ok so I'm not sure when it happened but I was still on windows 8.1 at the time. I'm now on Windows 10 and I can still not zoom with the touchpad on my Laptop
Now its not the end of the world as if I use a mouse I am still able to zoom. but this has been bugging me and I have looked online and cant find anything.
I have opened mouse properties and then gone onto device setting and clicked setting and there is no option for zooming where is should be.
I have Synaptics TouchPad V8.1 on PS/2Port.
I think this is the latest version. I cant seem to find anything else.

Sep 5, 2015Default web page zoom in the Edge browser suddenly became 250% instead of 200% which was perfectly fine for my Surface pro 3. All web pages look overzoomed now, can't use browser normally this way, so every time I follow a link or open a site I have to go to the menu and change the zoom back to 200%. And I didn't find a setting anywhere to set the default zoom of the browser.
IE displays page with 200% zoom still (which is my Windows display scaling) and works fine.
I have a feeling that that change happened after the last system update.

Mar 5, 2016our boss here has a Surface Pro 4 and mentioned his Pinch and Zoom on the touch screen isn't working any longer. He used to be able to open an Outlook message and he could pinch and zoom successfully using the touch screen. I know sometimes you actually do pinch and zoom on the touch pad. Is this even possible? The setting on the touch pad control panel is enabled and we are able to pinch and zoom on the pad but only in a browser, not within Outlook.

Sep 24, 2015Sometimes, when I shut down or restart Windows 10 64-bit, just before the screen turns black it makes the critical stop sound effect. It does not effect anything, the whole shut down process is like 3 seconds, which I really like in Win 10.
Nevertheless it bugs me a bit, I also had this sometimes in Win 7. I'm not running any programs while shutting down, it would notify me if I did.

I am getting really annoyed! in Mouse and touchpad settings I don't want pinch and zoom enabled! So I disable it only to find out when I restart the computer, it has enabled itself again. I hate it as I keep resizing my desktop icons because of pinch and zoom.
I saved a profile for my Mouse and Touchpad settings. But it still loads the default settings, that has pinch and zoom enabled. I have to Manually load my settings.

Nov 4, 2015They changed mouse scroll to scroll next/previous instead of zoom. I use a Logitech mouse with Setpoint installed and because of Setpoint smooth scroll, it scrolls through several photos on one scroll. Turning smooth scroll off, it doesn't always scroll next when the mousewheel "clicks". Another thing with my Logitech mouse is that I can't use the forward/backward buttons. They function as left click. Double click any and it zooms in. I can't change Setpoint settings per app because Photos isn't really a typical exe app like Notepad.
The last thing is that it seems to sharpen the photos even when I turned auto adjustments off. Compare Photos to Firefox and even Windows Photo Gallery and you'll see.So far, Windows Photo Gallery seems like a good alternative, except it doesn't play gifs (unless you click next frame really fast).
MSIServer Won't Stop

I have tried sc stop MSIServer from the command prompt as administrator and get error 1052 requested operation is not allowed. So how do I stop the service; the running instance is preventing anti virus from updating and other programs from installing.

Dec 14, 2015I'm on the latest Insider build. I don't want my PC to sleep nor the monitors to sleep nor the hard drives. Unlike most other issues with sleep and Win10, my problem isn't waking it up but keeping it awake.
Microsoft seem to have scattered the sleep options all over the place. I methodically worked my way round, starting in Settings where I can quite simply select no sleep for both the computer and the monitors. Simple? Nope. I found relevant settings in these places:
Right click desktop and choose display settings
Also from display settings choose advance power settings
Control Panel Power Settings
Change Plan settings
Maybe these are all links to the same settings but in any event whichever route I take, the PC still sleeps or the monitors still turn off or both. Or the screen saver kicks in.
I wonder if the UEFI bios is over-riding Windows? God knows but how can I keep my PC awake overnight

Nov 26, 2015At the urging of the popups from MS urging me to upgrade to Windows 10 ads I ran the compatibility test the results of which assured me that my computer was compatible with Windows 10. I then upgraded and started using Windows 10. I had all sorts of problems after that. I contacted the manufacturer of my system (DELL) and they told me that they were not supporting my system with drivers for Windows 10 and that I needed to pay a fee to their tech support for restoring my system back to Windows 7 for a stiff charge. The DELL tech spent hours using Remote Assist and the telephone to restore Windows 7. After restoring Windows 7 I had lost a lot of important documents and spent hours solving all sorts of remaining problems. I now have Windows 7 back and running well but I am constantly subjected to those annoying pop ups urging me to download and install the Windows 10 upgrade. How do I get rid of those?
