I am not a fan of Cortana because of the privacy concerns and I prefer Braina assistant. I have already disabled Cortana on my laptop by following this tutorial : [URL]. How can I remove Cortana completely from my laptop?
I can neither uninstall nor disable Cortana. If I end task in task manager it turns itself right back on.
It is not listed in the programs folder. I have even tried disabling services associated with Cortana and they come right back on.
I really do not want this thing. Sometimes I find it running using 50% cpu. What is it doing. I do not have the resources to waste on a program I do not want or need.
I've been trying to uninstall google chrome for a while but each time I try to do, I get a message that says " Please close all google chrome windows (including those in Windows 8 mode) and try again"...
I don't even know what that means, what does it mean by windows 8 mode and how can I uninstall the program?
is it possible to uninstall the first installed OS (Windows 8.1) in the SSD that has also win 10 installed into the second partition without losing data in win 10? If not from windows tools maybe using some software? Currently this is how my SSD is:
Disk0: [System Reserved:350Mt][D:233Gt][C:231Gt][Recovery:450Mt] D being windows 8.1
I was wanting to do the same (remove the very annoying OneDrive) and while searching around the net I came across this. Note the very first post with the Batch file to remove the OneDrive from your Windows 10 install. I do not take credit for it,
I know how to uninstall programs and such, however, I have a theme that is called AlienwareRed, and I can't find where the uninstall is for it. This theme changed all the icons etc.
I've changed the theme to a different one, but the icons are still the ones from AlienwareRed, so I'd like to uninstall it.
I can't seem to uninstall avg safeguard toolbar. When I try, Internet Explorer pops up telling me to uninstall the extension from chrome. I don't have that extension in Chrome. How to uninstall this malware?
Windows 10 OS using NVidia graphics and Realtek sound. This morning after a windows update ran , I have no sound. Troubleshooting shows that a solution maybe to reinstall 2 drivers from Realtek and NVidia. I tried the Auto fix solution but problem persists. On the Device Manager it is showing an orange warning triangle on both drivers, saying reinstall. Code 18. As I said the Auto update install does not rectify the problemCan I safely uninstall the drivers ? And then how do I reinstall them ?
The normal uninstall of old drivers in Device Manager isn't working. I am trying to update my Intel 7260AC Wi-Fi adapter to the latest Windows 10 drivers (18.12 from Intel's website). They won't install. The .exe runs but the drivers don't change and the new drivers aren't even listed in device manager to select. I can only select between two older driver versions that were once used under Win 8.1 (I upgraded).
When I try to uninstall the device, the check box to uninstall software isn't available. The device will uninstall but simply comes back with one of those two drivers. Is there another way to permanently remove them (e.g. where does Windows store driver software including registry entries). I would like to simply get rid of anything and try to get 18.12 drivers to install...I'm thinking they are somehow conflicting and preventing the install.
I've tried uninstalling through Windows and Ccleaner and it looks like it's uninstalled but when I open the uninstall utility (both Windows and Ccleaner) up again Paragon HFS Explorer is back on the list. There are no folders or files for it anywhere in my program files but it magically appears under installed programs.
This is a problem since when I try to install the new version it says it's already installed. So the old version is not there or working and I can't can't install a new version either since Windows thinks the old version is there still for some reason.
Many of the Universal Apps cannot be uninstalled because the button is inactive (grayed out). This might be 'by design' for the Technical Preview since Microsoft wants users to test the Apps.
The preferred method is to use the uninstall button when it is active. The list below provides a way to uninstall an App when the button is NOT active.
Launch an elevated PowerShell (Right click - Run as Administrator ...)
Copy the command for the App you want to remove from the list below and paste it into the PowerShell window
Example:
To remove the Calculator App, copy the entire line under the App name
I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 10, but it told me I need to uninstall Buffalo TurboPC EX Series. I looked in the uninstall a program screen, and couldn't find it. Is there a way to uninstall it?
ok, got a buddy in the uk who upgraded to 10, now he wants to remove microsoft office 03 as its barely compatible with 10 and he wants to grab a more recent version of office. small problem. he cant figure out how to uninstall it. the usual suspects for enabling an uninstall dont appear to show the program. I've directed him to tutorial Apps - Uninstall in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums and suggested option 4. he's currently told me both hdd's and the ssd all have a folder called microsoft office. he's unsure whats what.
edit: for clarification, the SSD is the drive that has the operating system installed to it. one hdd holds installed games, the other gets everything else.
I installed a software two days ago. Now I wish to uninstall it completely and want my PC to be in the state as it was before installing it. A simple uninstall may leave some of the backdoor components installed by this software. Unfortunately, Windows 10 has System Restore off by default which I forgot, so can't use the System Restore.
How do you delete a program that wont uninstall? Normal uninstall just hangs, deleting the program folder and running ccleaner to clear the registry still has it showing up.
I had installed remote mouse on my computer but then decided it wasn't something I wanted so I uninstalled it in the control panel, when I restarted my computer the program wasn't in the uninstall list in the control panel but kept starting on the boot up of the computer and still remains in the notification area and pops up. How do I delete this permanently off my system?
Right Click in programs view not showing, uninstall or run as administrator. Have tried sfc /scannow, and chkdsk and system restore and it is still not showing.
I have a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded 8.1 and used that since 2013. I am now using Windows 10 and it has been it good transition until the last update. I keep getting messages about dell backup and recovery not being compatible with this version of Windows (Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.11). I would just like to unstall the Dell application since I do not need it. I have a backup of my system should I need it in the future.
Apparently, I have yet another problem with Windows 10. I noticed today on my laptop that that when I right click on an application from the start menu there are options such as Pin to Start, Pin to Taskbar, Uninstall, Run as Administrator and Open File Location. However, when I right click on an application on my desktop PC, the only option I have available is Pin to Start.
