I accidentally upgraded from 7 to 10 on my desktop computer, and now I no longer have a start button, nor the ability to find any recognizable function like control panel, to enable me to uninstall.

I tried shutting off and restarting. I have tried system restore and that did not complete successfully. Now I tried go back to previous build and it has said "restarting" for 30 minutes....
View 1 RepliesEverytime my friend starts up her laptop, it tells her that the desktop is unavailable. The windows button is also unavailable and the only way to start programs, is by going to Task manger -> File -> Run new task - > Browse - And then find the right location.
I tried to use a SFC /scannow, but I'm not experienced enough to analyze the results.

When I try to uninstall Windows 10 "Photos" App (which takes over to open all photos and makes difficult opening photos with another app) it will not uninstall. (The "Uninstall" button is disabled.)
View 3 Repliesi try to left-click on the windows start button, nothing happens. the other half of the time, the appropriate menu of apps comes up. the right-click part of the start button ALWAYS works. is there a way to fix the start button so it always works? OR is there a way i can bring up the menu from the right-click menu--perhaps a command prompt....

What the heck is going on and how do I fix it? I've got apps that don't appear on my desktop which I am completely unable to use now.
For what it's worth, I can right-click the Start button since my latest reboot but I can't left-click it. (On the previous reboot, I couldn't right- or left-click it.)

The Tray icons and Windows start button stop working at random times, when this happens nothing shows up when i click the icons. know a fix for this issue?
View 9 RepliesI installed W10 over Win7 Ultimate a few days ago. There are many 'quirks', most just take getting familiar with the new OS, one though, is more than just a 'quirk', and is just getting out of hand.
Whether using an offline app or online website, the cursor arbitrarily goes to the START button and opens that annoying multi-window. It happens at random, sometimes I can actually stay where I am for a full five minutes before the cursor takes off again. Similarly, while browsing, it will open a window (usually an ad of some sort or a site selling something), without prompting. I am sure this has something to do with 'FREE' W10, but surely there is a setting to disable this annoying quirk. This cursor thing has to be fixed soon as it will be a deal-breaker with W10.
Also, on some websites, I cannot write text into forms, or on some forums the same (not this one, fortunately) I have to open Notepad, write my text and copy and paste it into where it needs to go. Tried browser cache clearing, to no avail.
One last item, the task bar is not accessible when a browser is open. This occurs with Chrome (default) Edge and MSIE. I have to minimize the browser to access the task bar.
I have four computers running Win10. On two of them the windows "Start" button on the task bar doesn't work. So I can't get to Settings or Apps. I can right click on the Start button and get the "right-click menu". All of the other task bar buttons work.
What's going on with this? It used to work. For a while it didn't work on my laptop, now that is working but on two other desktop computers it doesn't work. All computers have same Win10 version and latest updates (although hardware differs some between them).
Can I add the "Settings" and "All Apps" shortcut I would normally get left-clicking on the Start button to the Start button's "right-click menu"?
I have my Windows 10 for around 3 days now, the thing is, in the second day after my computer froze when i was playing counter strike, everything in the task bar but my shortcuts stopped working, they dont open anymore, but when i click it, the cursor blue loading circle shows up but nothing happens.
View 1 RepliesI just did a clean install on W10 and change my bios to UEFI (which it supports.) I'm having this intermittent problem with the Windows "Start" Button in the lower left. It just stops working - left clicking doesn't do anything, although right-clicking does. I just have the basics installed now.
Also, my Windows "Start" key on my keyboard stops working as well. I checked on a keyboard checker and the key itself is fine. I have to log out/back in to get it to work again.
my remote desktop connection has suddenly stopped working on windows 10.
1) how does one uninstall and reinstall it in windows 10? I've searched on google but can't find a solution (that works) anywhere.
2) are there any (free) alternatives to windows' own remote desktop connection?

I've done some troubleshooting and I have ruled out my ISP, cable modem, and router, leaving the issue to be something within the computer (Dell laptop - Inspiron 7537).The wired connection works fineWhen I run Windows Network Diagnosis, it tells me that the Windows Wireless Service is not running (see attached pdf report).

So I've finally managed to install Windows 10 Pro x64 although with Windows 7 left over in dual boot. It created a "Windows.old" folder in the C: drive and Windows 7 doesn't boot anymore. How do I uninstall Windows 7 from my PC and will it affect any files?

View 5 RepliesThis problem is on a desktop computer (HP Pavilion). When I click the start button, the start menu does not display. Pressing the Windows key on the keyboard also does not take me to the start menu.
I can access the right-click menu on the start button and most of the items on the right-click menu respond correctly when clicked (a few don't. No response from "Search" and "Desktop"). I installed Windows 10 over a month ago and have had no problems until now. Everything was working fine yesterday and to the best of my knowledge I have changed no settings since then.
When I click "Taskview" there is no "Add New Desktop" button.

View 1 RepliesIf there a way to make the button to peak at the desktop (to the right of the notification area) bigger? It seems like it's about 1/2 the size (or less?) than it was in Windows 7. Is there a way to make that bigger again? I've currently got a "Show Desktop" button on the taskbar, but I'd rather just use the one by the notification area.
