JPG Icons To Show Image Thumbnails Instead Of Generic Icons
Sep 8, 2015Since updating to Windows 10, whenever I open file folders to view jpgs, the files' thumbnails are a generic blue mountain icon instead of thumbnails of the images themselves. How do I get the icons to go back to being thumbnail images again? Is there a command or menu option that will change this for all jpgs in my folders rather than having to change one by one?

Oct 24, 2015I'm trying to create some custom buttons for my PC using Rainmeter, and part of what I need is high resolution/quality icons from the programs I use. I notice that for quite a few programs, since I've set my icons to large, come up very nicely on my desktop, but I can't seem to find them of the same quality on the Internet. So, how can I take whatever file it is that creates this icon, and convert it into a high resolution jpeg or png file so I can edit it?

Mar 2, 2016I noticed today that the usual arrow at the bottom left of desktop shortcuts has been replaced by the user icon of two figures[URL]. When I go into security properties, there are two user groups that I don't see in other files. One called INTERACTIVE, and the other called Account Unknown(S-1-5-21-4180935659-2234933324-3389827175-1000). Upon doing some research, it was said these unknown accounts can pop up when an account was deleted. I only created one account on this computer since I built it, my main account. I scanned with Malware Bytes, which came up clean. I am currently scanning with Bitdefender as well. Trying to delete the user results in a message describing how I can not remove it as it is inheriting permissions from it's parent, and that I would have to disable the inheritance feature in order to remove it.

Nov 21, 2015I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.

I created system image backup file at least once a week. I did one yesterday, and today I needed to run it to restore my system. To my horror, I cannot find way to run it. I ran system image backup restore multiple times. I know how to do it...... until today. Today, by the time I clicked Troubleshoot option, there is no Advanced Options to choose from. Instead it sent me to Startup Settings option where I could go to safe mode etc,
I ended up running a system restore. Good thing I do create restore point religiously. But, after system restore, I still have the same problem.......... cannot restore image by using system image backup.
adding............... I went to my other laptop running Win 10 Pro, I had no trouble running system image restore.
Installation :: User Account Profiles Replaced With MS Account - Now Can Get Into Accounts
Aug 14, 2015I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10 my dell insperion computer. the original conversion to windows 10 seemed to go OK for a few days. The about 2 days ago, I created a MS user account to access some of the MS store apps. Now the original Windows 7/10 user accounts - local accounts i guess - 3 of them - that we signed in with have been replaced with 1 account - I believe to be the Microsoft account (different name and password).
When we sign in with that MS account and get in to the computer, we have a pop up box that says "Critical Error - Start Menu and Cortana aren't working. We'll try ti fix it the next time you sign in." We can't do anything but select the pop-up box option of "sign out now". When we sign in again, it is the same thing.
I'm not sure if this is 1 problem or 2 different ones.
1. How do I get back my initial local user accounts, so I can access all of my programs and files?
2. How do I fix the Critical error?

Mar 5, 2016Why doesn't Windows provide the location of the spotlight lock screen image? I really wish they would. Any one else see an image and wonder the physical location of the image?

Jan 24, 2016Whenever I try to create a system image or run recimg I get error 12289 and the backup fails. System protection is turned on and maximum space used is set to 20%. I have no third party backup software installed and this is a real not virtual machine.

Sep 25, 2015I have a couple Macrium Reflect back-up images I made before upgrading to 10. At this point I am fully committed to 10. Are there any reasons to keep the Win 7 images? They are stored on an external HD which has lots of free space but I like to get rid of stuff I do not need just to keep my life simple and uncluttered.

Aug 20, 2015I created a system image on a Seagate external hard drive using Windows 10 Home, and I created a restore disc for booting with an external BUFFALO DVD drive connected to a USB port. I went into the UEFI and set my BUFFALO drive as the first drive to be used for booting at power up or reset. When I restarted the computer, a message appeared saying "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". I pressed a key. After a few minutes, the following screen appeared:
I used the down-arrow key to select US and hit enter. Then the following screen appeared:
I used the down-arrow key to select "Choose Device" and hit enter. Then the following screen appeared:
This screen gave me only two options: (1) Boot with the BUFFALO optical drive, and (2) Boot with the Solid State Drive which the HP Spectre x360 has (instead of a real hard drive). When I used the down arrow to select the BUFFALO optical drive, the screen that asks for the desired keyboard layout reappeared. When I selected US and hit enter, the screen that asks for a booting option reappeared. When I selected "Choose Device" and hit enter, the screen that gave me the option to boot with either my BUFFALO optical drive or the Solid State Drive reappeared. I found I could keep going around in circles like this, without ever having an opportunity to restore the computer with a system image I had created earlier.
Preview Image Not In Context Menu
Aug 2, 2015After updating to Windows 10, I find that the Preview button in the context menu is no longer visible as it once was in 8(.1). Is there a way to re-enable this? I mainly open my image files using something like Paint.Net and I also need to view previews of images when I program as well.
