Indexing Options Missing
Aug 2, 2015I've got a problem with my Windows 10 Pro build 10240 because Indexing Options is missing in Control Panel. I also tried opening "control.exe srchadmin.dll" in run but it won't appear.

Indexing Options Keeps Reverting To Default
Aug 21, 2015I have been trying to set my Windows 10 Home 64-bit computer to index only the Start Menu but not anything else (such as IE Favourites, Documents). I know exactly where all my documents are; the only time I use search is something like, I press the Win key, and type in cmd, or ccleaner, etc. So I really only need Windows to index the start menu.
However, every time after reboot, if I go into Indexing Options they will just revert back to default.Is there a way I can make the changes stick?

Dec 27, 2015I don't use Windows search normally, but today had reason to look for Indexing Options in the CP. No sign. Yes, things are being indexed. Yes, the service is running.
So could I invoke Indexing Options some other way?
control.exe srchadmin.dll
- nothing.
Now when I looked for srchadmin.dll, I only found this in Windows.old. Really?
control.exe <path to windows.old...>srchadmin.dll opened indexing options.
is this dll missing a consequence of having done an in place upgrade install?
Missing Power Plan Options?
Nov 17, 2015Ugraded from windows 10 rtm to windows 10 th2 and lost the option to restore a power plan to its default settings, so when i edit a power plan, i cant reset it to the defaults, is this normal with th2??? The first screenshot is of the option being there, well what its supposed to be and the other two are of my setup, as you can see i change a setting to see if it would pop up to restore defaults and it just doesnt....

Sep 5, 2015I apparently have Fast Startup enabled after upgrading to Win10. I would like to turn it off so I am not automatically logged on when I power up. (We don't have the IDs password protected on this desktop PC.) There are very simple instructions given in a TenForums tutorial, but my Power Options don't match what is shown in the tutorial. In particular, under Shutdown Settings I have only Sleep and Lock - no "Turn on fast startup"; no "Hibernate". Since this is a desktop there is also no "On battery" options, but that is obviously not a concern. But is the option of turning on and off Hibernate available only on laptops?

Feb 6, 2016I have an HP Laptop. I have the Insyde H20 bios. My bios menu does not have the option of overclocking CPU ( even though my CPU does to 3.9Ghz ( i7-3940XM Extreme Edition))
My bios menu does not have he option of increased video sharing (Video Memory).
My bios menu does not allow my ram to run at higher ram speeds.
My bios's version is HP's F3.A
Are there any UNLOCKED HP or ANY bios menus with that have these options for the insyde h20 bios?
Pin / Unpin Options Missing On Right Click Menu
Aug 23, 2015I've upgraded from Windows 8.1 (x64) and I wanted to change my start menu tiles since I had a start menu as opposed to the start screen. Naturally, I tried right-clicking the tiles that were present and unpinning them from the start menu, but the option doesn't show up! If I try and right-click shortcuts, executable files, or menu items for programs the option to pin the item to the start menu doesn't show up.
I can pin things to my taskbar easily, but I can't pin it to start at all! I'm currently running Windows 10 Build 10240 on a 64-bit Intel i7-4500U (Dual-Core) @ 2Ghz with 8GB RAM and Intel Integrated GPU.
None Of The Sign In Screen Options - Power Options Are Enabled
Oct 23, 2015Have been running Windows 10 on a Packard Bell laptop since August and suddenly the login screen password box is disabled on start up. None of the sign in screen options (power options, language, etc.) are enabled. I can't get to any safe mode boot options either so at the moment I'm stuck.

Mar 5, 2016I've got a lot of PDF's in my User directory, which according to the Indexing service has been indexed (and it says it's done and has indexed thousands of files). PDF's are set to search file properties only. When I search for any of the PDF's by name though I don't find them. I've tried rebuilding the index and no luck. According to the Indexing settings (default) it is indexing the users folder.

I realized it initially when I would press start and begin to type a program's name in order to run it, as I was doing with Windows 7, but it would not find any results and would prompt me to Google the program. I found it strange but didn't think much of it.
Once I started looking into the issue, I noticed when I go to Indexing Options it says "Indexing is not running." When trying to rebuild indexing, it gives the message about how it will take a while, and then does nothing. So I decided to look into Windows Search.
Windows Search is not and will not run. First: If I go to services.msc and try to start the Windows Search service, it tells me that "The Windows Search service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
So I tried through an elevated cmd prompt: "net start wsearch" gives me error 15:
"C:WINDOWSsystem32>net start wsearch
The Windows Search service is starting..
The Windows Search service could not be started.
A system error has occurred.
System error 15 has occurred.
The system cannot find the drive specified."
Finally, and perhaps the strangest thing, one post told me to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows Search SetupCompletedSuccessfully and change the value to 0. However, the only thing in the registry under Windows Search is a Preferences folder. There are no keys there. So to me it looks as though Windows Search does not currently exist on my computer.
So of course I run sfc /scannow. Unfortunately, it tells me:
C:WINDOWSsystem32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windirLogsCBSCBS.log. For example C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Jan 5, 2016After upgrading to TH2 I had an issue with windows search. The service wouldn't start at all.
I managed to run the Windows Search service.
I had to delete the Key RebuildIndex and change value of key SetupCompletedSuccessfully to 1.
Now that the search service works I have another problem. The indexing is not working:
In Advanced options the Index Location is blank and the button Select New is grayed out.
When I run the troubleshooter I get : Incorrect permissions on Windows Search directories -- Not fixed
The owner of folders C:Program DataMicrosoftSearch and C:Program DataMicrosoftSearchData is SYSTEM.
Administrator and my user name are added with Full Control.
What could be the problem?
Recovery Options Gone

What I get:
I just discover that my recovery options have disappeared, leaving me with the only option to Turn Off my PC instead of the usual "Reset your PC or see advanced options". I enclove two snapshots: One with the expected screen, the other one with the actual screen I got each time I invoque the Windows 10 recovery.
I have no clue whatsoever about how to fix that. My recovery partition is present as well as the EFI partition. Except for this problem my PC is working fine.

Aug 29, 2015I have all the setting I can find that when I close lid to laptop it does nothing when plugged in. I have it set to do not sleep unless I tell it too period. Yes went through 'all' settings. So it will run scans, maintenance etc during night but like lid closed. But when I get up and open lid it wants me to sign back in and scan say it couldn't run.
